They need to try to get Tanner Scott if nothing else. This team has needed a closer since 2022 and it was definitely a contributing factor in 23 and 24.
Let's face it. Dombrowski doesn't want to (or is not allowed to) go over the 4th luxury tax. That is why there haven't been any big signings in the past year. That's why there won't be any next year either.
There's loads of us Phillies fans in Canada Jim. I'm not "in" Montreal but I was an Expos fan from when I was a little kid (because of my Dad) until they left for Washington. After that I didn't have a team for a few years until Mr. Ruben Amaro Jr brought one Roy Halliday to Philly and that's when I became a Phillies fan who watches 150+ games per year. I live in a small town about an hour and a half east of Toronto. I've been a Flyers fan since 1986 (or whenever Ron Hextall's rookie campaign was) so I figured the Phillies would be a great team to cheer for since my Expos don't exist. My Dad did keep cheering for the Nats and he got to see them win the World Series the year before he died. Just in time. We saw 2 games at the big O. I got to see Pete Rose when he was managing the Reds. Montreal is about a 5 hour drive from here so we would have went more often if Montreal was as close as Toronto. We didn't like the Blue Jays because they always seemed to steal the Expos thunder as "Canada's team." lol. Happy Holidays boys. I really appreciate this podcast. Even though I love my hockey, I miss baseball and love hearing you boys bring us the good news with this show. I hope it continues for as long as you'd like. I'll be along for the ride. Thanks boys. 👋🙏🫡
I guess if Ranger is now a Scott Boras client, we can forget about Suarez signing a contract extension mid-season like Christopher Sanchez did last year
Two players They must keep are Crawford and Miller both 20 years old. Rojas was on the roster at 22. By next September both Crawford and Miller will be 21 or close to it. Why even think of trading them. Put them on our roster by September they will be very valuable to this team. Keep your prospects, it keeps your team young and gives those players the chance to learn under the likes of Harper, Turner, Realmuto, etc. Great experience for the rookies.
A non-zero chance. I think they're starting to gain some footing in the Japanese market. However, will this be the one that pays off? Hard to say. I think they do make a Japanese signing in the next 3 years though. Maybe they go after Murakami in a season or 2 in the event they let Bohm go, move Trea to OF then, and have Aidan at SS?
He’s was a really good defensive player but belongs at SS, not 2nd base. But his swing is all the way jacked up. It’s like he started playing too much golf and it messed his swing up.
He had a very good 2023 season, bWAR of 4.3. if he has a repeat of 2024 next year, then yeah, but I would hold off on the platoon talk. Apparently he battled an elbow injury last year
I don't understand all the panic in Philly. This team just had their best year of their current run in 2024. They took the NL East away from the Braves - they had 95 Wins, and the second best record in the NL - then they had a bad 5 GAME series. What's a better indicator - performance over 162 games or 5?? This is already one of the 2-3 best teams in the NL - why tinker and potentially ruin what you already have?? Do it again and keep the momentum into the postseason this time.
Don't wait for the young guy's Crawford Jr can be your catalyst if Rojas doesn't learn to hit. Its nice to have a lead of homerun but a 2 or 3 run homer is better. 600 at bats and only 30 walks is selfish.
Frankly hearing you guy's say that they wouldn't sign Santander or Hernandez because of losing draft picks makes my ears bleed! Bryce Harper's prime will not last forever the clock is ticking if they want to win a championship they are going to have to spend more money and if that's not a option we might as well start dismantling this team now.
This team is not good offensively !! No one scares the league other than Harper! So if you stick with this plan GO PITCHING HARD!! Burnes and Tanner Scott. Tajuan Walker killed this team n budget! The Phillies won't make the playoffs IMO. Window closed!
So far this off season has been PUTRID,after This Group essentially CHOKED these past 2 seasons. These $1 bin moves aren't going to amount to a Championship team.DD needs to get Bolder,EVERY single target dropped like dominos either signing or getting traded, while we pick up wing and a prayer solutions. In other words they're going cheap. So Im gonna say Tanner Scott..forgetaboutit we get Vespi😮 .That window is a peephole at this point
Our over rated Philly GM at the moment has nothing to show for his deals he made at the trade dead line no one wants his over priced signings if this. GM wants to stand pat with this team he should tell the truth that he is
I'm sorry you haven't learned anything. 1 stop swinging a 1st pitches your bat .058. 2 your never going to win if you don't have to closer. If your not babe ruth change your launch angle and bat .300 . Bohm change in to nice Bohm kids are watching. Ranger can be your everything man. Hit it the other way.
All this negativity about acquiring expensive talent is nonsense. If the player and team is willing, anything can get done. Imaginary scenario - a high priced FA wants 2yrs/$50m, it doesnt mean $25m a year. It can mean $10m in yr 1 and $40m in year 2 when Schwarber and Realmuto are off the books.. Anything is possible in a win-now mode if there is willingness
Ruin Tomorrow Jr who traded away 2010 Cliff Lee for a bunch of jabronis saying GMs value prospects too to highly is something else man
I love it when you guys break out some stories!!
Rojas went from AA to majors why not Crawford?

No producer or host noticed that buzzing noise? Lol. I’m 5 mins in and idk if I can take it the whole time, might have to bail on this one.
A fast lead-off guy and an outfielder, both with high OBPs and steals. Build a slump-proof team.
Bring back Hoffman!
I guess if Ranger is now a Scott Boras client, we can forget about Suarez signing a contract extension mid-season like Christopher Sanchez did last year
Stress relief is just what we fans need.

Todd very poor audio quality on your end this episode
They were a .500 team since the break/A’s series. They also wasted my hard earned money used on NLCS Game 7 tix. ;) FIX the problems.
Sign me up for Ruben's dream scenario of Bregman, Turner and Stott lol
Do the Phillies have a good shot to get the Japanese pitcher Sasaki ?
A non-zero chance. I think they're starting to gain some footing in the Japanese market. However, will this be the one that pays off? Hard to say. I think they do make a Japanese signing in the next 3 years though. Maybe they go after Murakami in a season or 2 in the event they let Bohm go, move Trea to OF then, and have Aidan at SS?
Its very simple. You get a legit championship window once a generation. It is the duty of the Phillies to maximize the window. End of discussion
What if Crawford looks great in Clearwater?
Would they consider him making the big club to start season?
@@irockphilly probably not. I would imagine he begins the season in Lehigh Valley.
i've been saying this all off season. Look at all the young SS in KC n Baltimore. PLAY THE YOUTH! No one on this team scares anyone besides Harper!
What's with the buzzing noise?
Stott huge? He wasn't all that and a bag of chips before this supposed elbow injury. He's a platoon player.
He’s was a really good defensive player but belongs at SS, not 2nd base. But his swing is all the way jacked up. It’s like he started playing too much golf and it messed his swing up.

PROFAR!!!

Yes, and then the playoffs came, they lost and holes got exposed. You can’t stand Pat with this roster while other competitors improve
@ only logical explanation
Agreed... however the Braves will be healthy this year. It's gonna be tight.
Totally agree. Tweak the Pen grab an outfielder that can play with both glove and bat.
@misterspookyman not right away. Strider and Acuña aren't expected back until sometime in May.
I would love profar because I wanna keep bohm. But if they gon trade him I would trade with the angels for ward and detmers

I agree 1000% with Ruben! Keep Bohm!!
💯 x 💯

Why would Angels pay all of Trout's salary? What about Turner for Trout and a prospect?
Looks like ownership has wised up to Dombrowski. He’s under financial arrest.

Still trying to ruin tomorrow, Ruben
The Cole Hamels trade was an embarresment, as was the Hunter Pence trade. Two all stars gone and nothing to show.
But remember one of the players they got for Hamels was Jorge Alfaro, and The Phillies used Alfaro in a trade package for JT Realmuto
They should move Harper back to the outfield and bring Hall up to play first base.
Hall is a free agent
Hall is not a major leaguer ! Try n trade n sign Vladdy G we need a bat that scares other teams. Harper is the only one.
Ranger hand injury
Bohm wrist injury
Stott
Elbow injury
Harper wrist elbow injuries
Turner hamstring injury
JT knee injury
Need I say more
No, they just all suck according to our fanbase, lol
Is someone running a foot massager?
Our over rated Philly GM at the moment has nothing to show for his deals he made at the trade dead line no one wants his over priced signings if this. GM wants to stand pat with this team he should tell the truth that he is
He has a National League Pennant to show for it. That's something.

So why are the Phil’s holding onto their prospects??? Unproven and rarely reliable 😂😂😂
Trade Harper to Yankees. You are wasting his prime…Phillies clearly gave up. Now with Soto $51M vs $25M for Bryce why will he even try anymore.
@@JC-baseball lmao. Stop it.
Dumbest comment ever
Teoscre!
