    Totally agree with benefit of contrast therapy. Tore meniscus right knee with TKD sparring about 15 years ago and 4 years ago starting experiencing general swelling and discomfort same knee when running. Just a year ago did a number on knee just fast walking the Bolder Boulder. It has been a year to get to the point I can minimize triggering of pain and swelling. Besides exercises and stretching a big plus was hot therapy (whole body steam and sauna) and cold plunge. Also cold stream knees only after each shower. Can now get total knee extension, not hyper fixed which is a problem for me with hyper flexibility), and the stretch and liquid flow I can get in knees, supporting structures is a big PLUS. First time I’ve consistently had definition to my right knee for day after day! Highly recommend!

    Can contrast baths potentially help with arthritis? I typically think of them as helping with soft tissue issues but am asking just in case…

      More blood flow and everything that comes with it is good no doubt.

    in the study, I assume the control was no treatment hot or cold. Is there a comparison between contrast therapy and cold treatment that you know of?

    Coach E can you please do another video on this type of therapy with all the rage of sauna therapy and cold plunge incorporating any studies.
    Can not wait to try the hip hinge exercise as I continue to work the range of motion I’ve lost in ankles, knees, hips, trunk as well as strengthen my sleepy muscles. Gained weight and lost fitness taking care of Mom at the end of her life. Now ready to continue on my journey to fitness and love of movement hiking, running, swimming, and jumping off rocks in Colorado until I reach the point that just grounding in place (and taking off shoes/socks is a work out.)
    By the way, (if you see this) what’s your take on grounding?

      Hi and thanks for writing.
      The mechanism by which contrast therapy works is the same whether you are using sink water or the features you describe.
      Going barefoot whenever possible is great because it maintains the sensory apparatus in your feet.
      Let us know how the exercises go and if you have any more questions :)

      You can use this method or any area. It is ok to reverse the sequence. It is safe to do this multiple times per day.

    Is this best done using ice and heat packs or in the shower? I'm working on your elbow program these days and want to know if this is best done using hot/cold water or packs?

    • @PrecisionMovementCoach
      @PrecisionMovementCoach  Год назад +3

      Submersion is the best, running water is next best, and packs are least effective. However, whatever you have access to will be better than nothing :)
