- Dave Mustaine of Megadeth sits down with Ricky Warwick of Thin Lizzy to talk about getting kicked out of Ireland in a bulletproof bus, having surgery after too much headbanging and how leaving Metallica changed the way Dave played forever. And that's all before they pick up their guitars.

Let’s all thank that kid who sold T-Shirts at that venue for helping create Holy Wars
And the little kid who said, fuck you Dave Mustaine
There should be a Dave Mustaine movie.
I wholeheartedly prefer Metallica to Megadeth musically but Dave's life story is so much more impactful. He is the ultimate underdog, that would be a sick idea for a movie. If it's given the proper attention it deserves
While not a Dave movie, the Behind The Music does feature a lot of the stuff you’d want in the movie. 😎
a real movie or montage/documentary?
Charlie Hunnam from Sons of Anarchy should play Dave, Paul Rudd should be Ellefson, Adam Sandler should be Marty Friedman and Raimy Mallek should be Nick Menza.
He does have a movie part where he s a villain
A lot of people bitch about Dave Mustaine's political stances but face it, the dude is political. His lyrics have always had that theme and people bitch about it all the time now. You don't have to agree with the dude but props to him for owning his views and sticking to them. Show integrity.
In a '90s interview, Mustaine said that Megadeth's biggest strength was integrity
God bless Dave Mustaine I fuckin love this guy
I can't say this enough but Dave has got to be one of the most coolest and most underrated for his personality. Everyone knows he's a badass on guitar and a great singer but a lot of people don't realize that he's really turned into a kind and spiritual guy. Cool to see how grounded he is.
Cool meaning rehab, dude fucked up every step of the way. Took 12 shows for him to realize he didn't have the board he wanted.
Paraglidermx
Dave has always taken the Douche bag route.
Paraglidermx
prove there is an antichrist? Dave lost his faith in humanity long ago.
bo0tsy1 he fucked up alot.but he's dealt with his anger issues.very cool guy.
Paraglidermx
Dave is a recovering narcotic user, who had he not been on junk, played for metallica. Sad fact, and I love megadeth.
I love how Dave totally chills out when he’s with people that he considers his equal. It’s so cool to see him getting loose and just truly shootin the shit!
Dave Mustaine is my idol !
LOL -- Dave... "I wish I could..." I didn't know he had a steel plate near his throat. I like how his voice has dropped and gotten grittier in recent times.
I'd love to hang out with Dave, the dude has the best stories!
"...went from playing guitar because I loved it to playing guitar because I was pissed." LOVE IT!
Dave has some great stories to talk about for sure.
Dave has been one of my heroes since I was 10 years old. Ricky Warwick is one of the best musicians to make Scotland/Northern Ireland proud. Fuckin' love these guys! Thin Lizzy, Megadeth and The Almighty forever!
Sam Carey damn straight!!, dave is a pure gent!, i had the honor of interviewing him 10yrs ago, all the horror stories about how he treats people were wrong, he was a great person to talk to, we spoke for 30mins, then they needed to soundcheck, shook his hand and said thanks, he said "we'l carry on talking after the show" and gave me a pass, that was one afternoon/night to remember. Its good also to see ricky is still giging, also a nice bloke!.
I absolutely love Dave Mustain
Lymanization MustainE :)
Saw the Megadeth, Almighty and Alice in Chains gig in Point Depot Dublin in 91 (although I thought I saw Alice in chains supporting Ozzy for some reason) . Megadeth were unbelievable. Marty Friedman was a such an inspiration to me as a teenager. Remember Ricky wearing anIreland rugby top too.
Man, I never thought I would see an interview with these guys together... Ricky Warmick is an underrated singer and composer, everyone should give a listen to Black Star Riders, which is his main project now. It would be nice seeing the touring with Megadeth. And Dave Mustaine... Well, he doesn't need presentations hahaha, I loved this video!
Dave Mustaine is a badass everybody knows that but I had a chance to meet him and he is super super super intelligent he's very friendly and grounded and down-to-earth one of my favorite people in the whole world
There is so much mutual respect in this conversation
Dave Mustaine is an amazing songwriter, musician, and guitar player. I have been a huge massive fan of Megadeth for over thirty years. I love the majority of their albums and I like some songs from the albums I like least. Their most recent album Dystopia is easily in my top five favorite Megadeth albums. In my opinion Dystopia is the best Megadeth album since Rust In Peace. I am really looking forward to their next album after Dave beats cancer.
The new album is amazing

Thin Lizzy, Metallica, Megadeth, The All Mighty, Black Star Riders... These guys right there are representing the 70% of my whole life fav musical influences. Great interview between 2 good mates,a pleasure to assit.
Keep'em comming Fuse!
Watching Dave talk...
It's weird to think of him as a normal person
The weird thing is realize how deep his voice became .
Baritone register ...
In 80's he was that high tenor voice ..
Youd think dave is GOS
Thats my half stack in the back! This was an awesome day!
Watched this twice in a row. Love hearing about gigs in the late 80s in Ireland.
Great vids, love the behind the scenes.
I gotta get me one of them hats. It will be my new fishin hat for this season. These vids are awesome. Dave is a legend! Thin Lizzy is awesome as well!
I found it a bit funny when he was talking about all these players that just sweep and how dull it can get over time, but his other guitarist, Chris Broderick can sound like a robot at times with how he plays lol.
Thays freakin RAD...playin the pickup too ... awesome you guys
Great interview, Dave Mustaine Rocks! 🎶🥁😎DC
need to do Ozzy Osbourne and Steve Harris
hahahhaah.
HAHAAHAHAHHAAHHA! I would love to see it mate!
This would be crazy hahahaha
That mumble singer doesnot deserve to sit with THE Bass Player of Metal.
Much respect to Dave Mustaine
everybody talking about his hat but around 6:50 he starts talking abut Phil Lynott and you can tell he's not a racist
cool interview with two cool cats!
Metallica, megadeath, sepultura, the almighty yep...that's my early 90s teen initiation into music right there.
Bruh... Both of you... For real... It's *Megadeth* not Megadeath
They all are 80s metal.
Dave is a very nice guy
Dave Mustaine for president!
EAST BELFAST! never thought that part of belfast would be mentioned on this or the troubles at all.
Mr. Mustain,
I know exactly what you're saying. I'd wrap my thumb around 35 years ago! I was made fun of back then, yet I was killing it.
I was in 9th grade and destroying everyone else, yet getting crap from other good guitar players for doing it.
Then I started looking at guitar players like Jerry Reed and others who did the same thing.
Great interview. I love Thin Lizzy too. Always have.
Great stuff my man. You guys have a great interview!
Sincerely;
Joseph Sharp
Joseph Sharp Hendrix and Blackmore did it as well
Wake Up Dead Dave's solo is still the most melodic bad ass solo ever
I saw them with Testament and Judas Priest on the Painkiller tour, then again with the Clash of titans both times awesome performances.
lucyferina damn Priest,Megadeth and Testament on the same night
Very cool. Ricky Warwick was great with Lizzy and Dave is King 👑🤘
AMAZING SHOW. PLEASE POST EVERY EPISODE SINCE 1PM TIMESLOT BLOWS. THANX
Plz do more of this stuff
Dave is the man \m/
I thank Dave for being one of my inspirations for leading me to Jesus Christ. He is brilliant and without a doubt one of the greatest musicians ever. I have been around evilness and it effected me at a young age, so I thank him for being that guy who isn’t afraid of his faith.
I’ve got photos from that gig at Newcastle city hall. Almighty, Alice in chains, and megadeth. Good times!
Anyone here have a tab for "leave this town" by thin lizzy?
Hard to find one, I figured most of it by ear but need the solo
12:16 LOL at that interpretation of the boys are back!! xD
Where in the fuck are the 2nd parts to all of these episodes?
All I got by clicking on the link was a bunch of spyware sites.
I thought mustaine still said that kind of stuff I've always liked it.
MetalThrashing To be honest if even today Dave said "hey I'm gonna split your head open" I'd shit a brick.
very cool
Dave.....lol we love Dave.
Great stuff! Too bad part 2 doesnt work.
its a link to their website, you can view part 2 from there.
This guys talking! Quality content
Love that hat
12:43 Did that really happen? I need to be more careful with my headbanging.
I ended up having to go to the ER one time from head banging.
He'll yeah that can happen! I'm a therapist who treats the cervical spine. Don't headbang! Don't put those kind of forces on your neck. Do somerhing else. Floss.....or do the Elaine from Seinfeld dance.....something
Dave Mustaine - you're the man! More metal! David Curtis
Gostaria muito de entender o q eles falam...Alguem faria a gentilesa de traduzir o video ou colocar um texto aqui pra mim?
this is a cool ass show.
_weenie voice_
The Boys are back! And in town!
Classic
HAHA watching this in DUBLIN Ireland laughing my ass off..Good man dave...
Please put part 2 on youtube..the website doesn't work on my ipad
Click open the description box on your RUclips app and press the hyperlink. You'll see the video and you can watch Metalhead to Head on your iPad!
It worked on mine
most metal thin lizzy song was thunder and lightning . If megadeth or metallica cover lizzy again it needs to be that song
fucking cool
Whens the mark heylmun one coming?
Anybody else here see that thumbnail, and for a split second thought, "Wow, a new Wayne's World"?!
thanks ricky!
there is a dude who lives next to me who went to that gig in irland and he said ever since that gig he hates megadeth
Why, what happened?
@@kamisa7362 Dave said "give Ireland back to the people"
@@konayuki8525 Ahh.. I see. Thank you.
Yep seen them both now..
Dave you doing well.
Your hair looks good.
Thin Lizzy died when Phil Lynott died.
Honey Lambb agreed
Well, they are just keeping the Lizzy legacy alive paying tribute to the great Lynott. You can see the respect the guys still have for him for the fact they created Black Star Riders to release new music without all the Lizzy legacy behind, but it still being a big influence to them. Wherever he is, I'm sure Philo is proud of his lads
@@gabrieledomingosjardim5358 You said it!
Jake E Lee did the thumb thing as well, both over the neck and as a bar.
I've always got a voice in the back of my head that wonders how would megadeth sound if Mustaine would do growling, and whether it would be easier for him to sing.
Wonder how Cold Sweat would've sounded on Countdown...
It really is a shame that Dave can't sing high anymore. Many new songs would be great with that signature high squeal.
When the fuck was this guy EVER in Thin Lizzy??? The REAL Thin Lizzy???
he wasn't, but Gary Moore is dead so this guy will have to do.
Drop Lick The Iconic Thin Lizzy was Scott Gorham and Brian Robertson. Gary Moore kicked ass though!
kris faulkner My favourite Lizzy Lineup was Lynott, Gorham, Downey, Sykes, Wharton (or the Thunder and Lightning era Lizzy). Maybe I'm biased towards it cos the "life" Live Album from that Tour was the first Lizzy Album I ever got. I never got to see Lynott or that Lineup Live, but I did kinda get very close in a sense when they did the 10 Year Anniversary Show in 1996. It was that Lineup with Marco Mendoza on Bass, with Sykes doing the Singing.
Danny R The Lineup that he toured with not too long ago was great at introducing a good Live Lizzy Show to an Audience that never got to see the real thing Live. Ok so it was Scott Gorham, Brian Downey and Darren Wharton with Def Leppard's Vivian Campbell and Ricky Warwick, not the real thing but a good and respectful representation. Lynott always there in the Music.
kris faulkner Gary was Thin Lizzy's best guitar player imo. The guy is a monster.
battle flag of the south on the cap... very metal
dave may not be the best singer but he has a gifted sense for melody. with his limited voice that he has he makes up infectious melodies to go with his jawbreaking riffs. but his leads are also very melodic but fast as fuck like the lead bit he does from into the lungs of hell and its very hard to do that and still me very catchy
if mustaine stayed in metallica dnd cliff never died they would have gone on to be the beatles of metal. great songwriters together
katkal3 there’s no way that Dave would have stayed in the band anyway
metallica and megadeth are better than the beatles, the beatles is great too, but older
Yeah, but Megadeth is the Queen of metal, a less influential band, but the best of it's genre.
Dave plays 26 fret on pickup!
Yep he’s legendary and shredder
I'm eager about use a pedal board like Dave did it :D
dude...when he says "what's the cause?" he sounds just like dave mustaine.
BRING THE PAIN
Dave antagonizing Ireland is a hilarious story.
Wow, a bald Mustaine would truly look like Elmer Fudd.
BenRangel or Putin...
You wrote that 4 years ago???...you are a prophet!!!
Rick Warwick of Thin LIzzy , was he the Guitar Technician because I have no recollection of him on any of the albums or in Photos with Phil.
half the hair metal dudes were doing the thumb stretch thing back in the day. Jake E lee, George Lynch anyone?
"whats the cause?" lol
"Click for part 2", doesnt work. Nice job Fuse.
Dig the hat. A Rebel
MrBigden37 it’s a stupid hat
@@jonathansedano8042 your stupid!
Michael Horn if YOU’RE gonna try an insult someone at least check your grammar
@@jonathansedano8042 Well, IIll up it one, you're a stupid f%!#! and a pc pussy, how's that?
MrBigden37 Oooooo look at you using big boy words hope mommy and daddy don’t see this. 😂
I saw Megadeth at the Birmingham NEC on the Rust in Peace tour in 1991. He said, "Hello Birmingham! Do you know how I know it's Birmingham? I says so on my pedalboard! It also says Chris Watts Sucks!!!"
Vans off the wall!
We need Buckethead on this with someone lmao
Oh shit. You can play the pickup?! 🤯
YER FROM IRELAND....
Dave looks so healthy and young here. 5 years have passed and now he looks so old.
Dave clash of the titans was the last time you came to Baltimore
i swear, ricky warwick's voice sounds like Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare's Soap Mactavish's voice.
You mean Price?
21 people have disliked this. I'm glad I'm not one of them. \m/
It's funny how they put the number of albums sold for Megadeth and for the other guy's bands they didn't.
Now Megadeth has sold over 50 million albums...
6505+ in the back.. Nice...
looks like dave and Angus young are the same person in appearance, and both gods..
carot2003 eerily correct dude
