The main objective of enhancing historical image and sound recordings by digital signal processing is to improve the overall quality of recordings degraded by several distortions. Whether true signal restoration or merely signal enhancement can be achieved depends heavily on the quality of the historical image and sound material.
Image and audio restoration is an extremely time-consuming process that requires skilled audio and image engineers with specific experience in motion pictures, sound and music recording techniques as well as high-end hardware and software.

I enjoyed seeing Roddy McDowell and also Maurice Evans. I have never seen either of them in a Shakespeare performance. I only knew Maurice Evans from Bewitched, but somehow realized hewas more than an ordinary actor. It's wonderful to hear his voice in a setting in which it really belongs!

I fondly remember this production, I was 10 years old. I knew next to nothing about Shakespeare but something attracted this to me.

Roddy is a true trooper! His makeup and costume look extravagantly uncomfortable! Wonderful as always.

An exquisite looking production envisioned by the NYC Ballet's main set/costume designer of the times.
Who would have ever thought of casting Richard Burton as Caliban? And yet, he is perfect.
While Maurice Evans' Shakespearean delivery may make us wince a bit these days it is an accurate artifact of what American theater-goers "heard" as High Culture.
Just lovely to know there was a time when such efforts on US broadcast television were not such a rarity on any of its three major networks.

Love this! It's also great to see the marvelous Ronald Radd as Stephano. But what's with the gladiator outfit for Ferdinand?
