You bought this car to save on MPG and now you're putting 35 tires on it🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
lol to get better mpg than my other vehicles hahaha. It still will haha
Nope, I think 34s
Just removing those front clip pieces probably compromised 1mpg. Car makers put those ugly things on for a reason.
That was LITERALLY my first thought! LOL
just let the artist cook - im not here to see how many mpgs he can get.
Thought ur wife needed a good mpg suv. 😂
😂😂🤷
I thought he said the same thing 😂
Go down a size. Rather then cutting and parting out.
Yep. Will still be better than the 16 mpg the other vehicles get.
@@TRDJonnot really, especially when you factor in premium fuel, it'll probably pencil out very similarly. Then add in all the taxes and fees you paid for a new vehicle, in addition to the instant depreciation once you drove it off the lot, and you're paying more than just keeping the 16mpg vehicle.
Your wife " I don't hate it" cracked me up.
Lol hahahahha baby steps
33.5" with a 2" lift would give full flex and actual off road capable
Man the first time I saw the stock rims on the LC, I thought they were way too basic. But now that I see all these pics and vids with custom rims, the more the stock rims grow on me and seem like they just fit the classy look of the LC more. The most I’d do is keep the stock rims and swap for slightly beefier 33’s but that’s about it.
I’m getting same color, I just can’t decide on wheels, sometimes I hate the stock ones then other times I’m like they are not that bad!
Looks really good. Fits the LC's retro style. Just need a smaller size tire. Those are way too big. Lifting it will hurt MPG. She drives a lot using premium gas so a "shorter" tire will help fuel econ as well.
Rims are like shoes... another way to express our own personal style. If you like it, then rock it! Personally, i think it looks great. Dare to be different. =)
The black wheels look better, thanks for sharing Sir.
Always!
General rule of thumb: Adding unsprung weight creates 10lbs effect for every one pound added. ( +10lbs/tire x 4 = 40 (multiply x10 for unsprung weight) = same effect on power and fuel economy as driving around with 400 pounds dead weight in the vehicle. )
Dang that’s a lot!
Sorry, honestly these look worse
No worries at all dude! All preference
You have changed the drive ratio so much, it will shorten the life of all the components including the transmission
Gotta be a better 17” wheel tire combo that doesn’t rub
I think he needs to go down to 34" tires and do a 1" to 2" lift.
I like the silver mags! Nice throwback look. Those tires aired down are gonna rub like crazy!
I think so too!
285/75r18 probably wouldnt rub, theyre a bit taller, closer to 35, but theyre about half an inch narrower
Don't like those wheels at all. The stock look a lot better.
These tires look much better! I walked into a first edition the other day and I genuinely thought it was the 1958 because of those lame stock tires. Man even the FJ trail team edition got some BFG KOs
And the FJ TT had wayyyyyy better looking TRD Wheels too from what I remember. The wheel and tire choice in this was meh. The GX definitely got a thoughtful tire for the Overtrail
Wheels look pretty good. Way too much tire poke for my tastes, however. Different offset and going to a 285 wide, rather than these 295, would look perfect.
285/75R18 (34.8") would likely be a bit too tall, even though they are a bit narrower, so maybe the 285 with a 70% sidewall.
295/70R18 (34.3") vs 285/70R18 (33.7") is only 0.6" difference in height. And the slightly shorter and narrower tire, than the one in this vid, will be less headaches, but still have the oversized look and benefits, such as more sidewall and better rollover. This video convinced me that 285/70R18, with wheel offset the same as, or close to, stock, will be the go-to tire for the new Land Cruiser.
I have a 2024 Limited Edition Traildust and was thinking the same 285 70 18. Just trying to figure out the offset. Want to put on Method Titanium rims
Great vid. Wheels look great. I would have gone with 285/70 but they may still rub. I never understood why Toyota is so stingy on wheelwell space. Would it be so detrimental to the structural integrity of the car frame to afford each wheelwell 1" more space?? BTW, love seeing what the rig looks like without those silly front canards.
Thanks! I appreciate it!
Rock it stock I say
4-6inch lift more offset 37s would be sick
295 is waaay too wide for this LC. Pizza cutters are better in almost every single way..
You guys live in Florida right? You don't even need those on there for 99% of your driving... I'd leave stock with maybe some Wildpeaks in stock size... If you move to Utah, definitely swap out. Waste of money there in FL
We have a lot of sand on our trails and beaches. So these tires will be super nice.
Not a waste of money if it makes them happy.
Offset calculations are pretty straight forward. No reason to be surprised that these poke (making you one of those that breaks other people's windshields) and that they don't fit. Those 34" (34.29" is 34 not 35) unsprung mass are going to do wonders on the aluminum knuckles...The silver wheels do look good on the Prado in that colour.
Black wheels are a "no go" for good looks, machined is definitely the best look. IMO.
Curious to see how the fuel economy changes with the new tires.
Jon they look fantastic I,m gonna do the exact same slightly smaller tyres so no lift needed I,m still waiting for my FE order to be confirmed here in the UK
The Manufacturer has these people who are really good at math etc. they designed the wheel size for many reasons, don’t change it. 🤪🤨🤔🧐
Well it don't look cool! hahah
Not crazy about the polished wheel and wide tire look. Tall and skinny is my preference. Battle ship gray steelies like the old 40’s.
Don't lift it, keeping as much stock as posible, just heat and mold the plastic bumper away from the tire or as last resort cut them some so they don't rub
Don't love those wheels at all. Black would look much better. You do you though. Congrats on the new LC
Thanks man!
Oh those bronze wheels were the absolute jam brother. 👌👌
I love that you immediately start modifying it 😂
Had to see how they would look!
I think those wheels in black would look good.
those shiny wheels look bigger than the LC (almost makes it looks like a Monster truck), the black ones (17in) with offroad tires are perfect!
Stock wheels with the new tires would look the best. Or you should try your 4Runner wheels
After this video, I’m convinced my wife will love the new Land Cruiser 😊😂
Interested to see the craziness this years SEMA show will bring to the new Cruiser and Runner
Ugh why must you do this! 😭 Everything is pointing to me getting one. Just don’t wanna force it you know.
Haahahahah I'm sorry!!!
any update on MPG with the new wheel & tire package?
🎉👍💖👍🎉The NEW 4RUNNER TRAILHUNTER WHEELS for the LAND CRUISER.
Been running those tires for a year and a half now, 275 55 20 on my 2017 toyota 4runner limited, road tripped in them and you would love them if your looking for a daily driver tire you definitely made the right choice, your wife would definitely appreciate them as well, and also the wheels look fire on the land cruiser, they really pop on with that color, it's not the same old boring black and the same look being done over and over again. Hope she enjoys. Oh and those wheels on there definitely gives it the 2024 80 series landcruiser vibe as well.
Having driven both the Land Cruiser and the Tundra, which one do you enjoy more Tundra vs Land Cruiser vs 4 runner? I have a ‘23 Tundra and I’m thinking about changing over to the LC or 4rnr.
The LC is probably the best to drive honestly. But for me the Tundra is more fuctional for what I do and need though
This is gonna tank the range since the new Land Cruiser (Prado) came with a much smaller 17.9 gal fuel tank than previous platforms. Kinda wish they kept at least a 23 gal tank from the GX470/GX460. The J250 is slightly longer and wider vehicle but saddled with a smaller fuel tank? The hybrid system in the J250 Land Cruiser (Prado) is set up to help with power in conjunction with the small turbo four engine, not fuel economy. My 3rd gen 4Runner also have a small 18 gal tank. My range tanked once I put on bigger off-road tires and a supercharger. I feel like your overlanding trips are gonna include a couple of extra jerry cans.
Looks cool! I would suggest using the same tire size as J80, with the same rim look. J80 size is 275/70/R18 and fits without any mods and does not affect odometer
Will look at that one!
Machine polished definately.
Black wheels are boring
Classic silver alloys 💯 I'm so sick of black wheels on everything.
Yea they are a bit done now I feel.
I went with 18" Tundra TRD PRO BBS wheels with stock Falcons, 285/65/18's for my white 1958. They look beautiful and no rubbing.
Thanks for your video. I feel that I made the right choice.
Thats what I am looking to do on this too.
@@ladwenjang Hey that’s exactly what I want What color and offset are they? I thinking of the 2857028
Well, the tires are too big; they're rubbing, you're removing trim pieces, and there's almost no roof rack clearance as you back out of the garage. Plus, too much positive offset; I don't want wheels/tires sticking out beyond the fenders. Also, what about speedometer/odometer inaccuracies with taller diameter tires?
I will say, I like the polished look better than the OE black wheels. I'm bored with black wheels.
I'm really surprised that no one has commented that a lift doesn't create clearance. Sure at static height there will be plenty of room but as the suspension compresses that clearance goes away and the tires will rub. Perfect example is turning onto a cut out in a parking lot or driveway.
Very true. But with 98% being normal height driving it would help out a bit.
I have to respectfully disagree, the smaller wheels look better for me. The 18s feel too big, gives it more of a pimp my ride vibe than a serious off-roader.
I get it, but I don’t. Do you just mod the car to get attention. I know they are for off-roading, but I think it’s a bit overkill 😂
I mod it to make it look the way I’d like it too versus all the others other there that will look the same.
That front bumper is made to come off in several pieces as needed … so you could have easily taken off bottom black bumper and had zero rubbing and it still look good
Hate black wheels so much. Any silver wheel is better. Stink bugging in the back. And rubbing is no bueno. Key take-away-way is silver all-the-way. If I go LC I’ll probably have the OEM wheel blasted or painted and rock with some K03 and i think I’d be fine. Not interested in 90 lbs per corner of wheel weight.
Overkill JON, everything is off now, speedo, shift points, far more wear and tear on steering box and front end parts, less gas mileage (for sure). Michelin/Cooper tires have some nice brands Jon that are quite running, those rims are not suited for that truck (personally speaking) they look way to busy and wrong in color. Just my personal views JON, I worked at a performance tire and rim shop for about 5 years in my early days. thanks for the updates just the same. :)
That Cruiser looks good with those tires! I excited to see how it would look with the Tundra TRD pro wheels.
You and me both!
I want that truck. Can't afford the 1st edition but I want the round head lights and power seats. Try to build a 1958 but it wouldn't give me options to add power seats and bigger screen and heated seats
Im curious - what do you like better so far, your 4runner or the landcruiser ? And why?
4R. Land Cruiser is better to drive but the 4R will stay longer
@@TRDJon good to know, I had deposit down for landcruiser, but changed my mind and bought 23 TRD off-road instead
Protection ring on those might look good and a slightly smaller tire
Factory looks 10 times better in my opinion
The new Land Cruiser looks REALLY good with bigger tires (and those silver wheels look great too) but it looks like you'd definitely need a lift... The second that suspension flexes while turning that rubbing is going to get real bad...
Polished on LC looks amazing! Really fits the style.
It really does man!
Bro the stock rims are better, if you want big tire just change the tire to one inch bigger, don't go big too much the handling wont be good and it will drink more fuel, 32 is good but if you want more rubber 33 will be fine, true that colour suits the car more goes with the roof
I’m not really a fan of the polished wheels but you are right with the roof color, even though I personally don’t like polished wheels these wheels look good on the cruiser because of the color combo with the roof
The machined silver definitely looks great with the heritage blue. If I had a heritage blue LC250, I would go vintage and go white wheel 😉.
Looks great with the machined wheel vs the black one. Your wife's gonna be riding in style
For sure dude!
Too much rubbing, that would bother me every time. I don’t think I would lift it before putting more miles on it. Stick with the stock until you find a better fit.
Hi! You can try on the bronze wheels and fix the video. Thank you very much 🙏🙏🙏
I have a wrangler and I don't like poke. I kept with 25m offset on 35s to keep them inside. These ones, they honestly look too big. I like the size of the smaller 17. I like the polished look though. And I do wonder if it were just lifted maybe 2", not as much as you had on the jack if that would help. But I personally would see if I could get a diff offset. The polished and paint color look great to me.
I love the look of the polished rims. It looks sick. I hate black on black look. Almost always looks awful. Those rims match the L.C. perfect 👌
I like those rims and tire combo, don't need any lift, just push the plastic away from the tire
Sexy Cruiser👍🏻
I like em. Like how they kind of match the top too.
For sure. Thats what I was thinking too
@@TRDJon definitely better than the stock wheels
Maybe I'm more obsessive about planning out a build, but just throwing on 35"s without understanding how you're going to lift the vehicle is just foolish. Nothing good is going to come from it other than aesthetics, maybe that's all you care about. To each his own.
You're probably 18 months away from getting a proper lift kit for that rig -- if you do it right.
Looks super clean. The final wheel set up in a dark color would
lol awesome as well.
Perfect poke and wheel
Fill.
They look too big without lift
The recon grappler in 295x70r 18 are 63 lbs a tire, the k02 34x10.5 r 17 are 56 lbs per tire (per tire rack). The lighter weight, and the 10.5 for the better fit... just sayin'
It looks so good 💯 and more aggressive
I’d still go with 17s. The one you tested on there looks smaller because it’s black. 17 would work in silver and you could fix the rubbing issue
Silver
Polished wheels look nice, but I'm certain they would require more maintenance to look good all the time.
I'd go with a 34" 35's look too stuffed IMO
I guess by rounding down there are closer to 34
Wow, I’m usually not indecisive about wheel finish because black is the best, BUUUTTT, that white/blue works with the aluminum finish and I’m not sure I wouldn’t want white steelies on it. 😱
Would you be able to do a night video highlighting the interior and exterior lights?
I showed the head ligths on the delivery video. But I can do that again.
Ah thank you 🤙🏽
Looks amazing. Great choice
Thank you!
Random question but does the Land Cruiser LC trim come with Skid plates from the dealership that cover the engine, transmission, and transfer case?
Random question but does the Land Cruiser LC trim come with Skid plates from the dealership that cover the engine, transmission, and transfer case?
Machined wheels for sure…black can be cool but its so good the way it is. 1.5in lift to get rid of the rubbing and it’s perfect
Looks classy with the machined 18s and 35s. Im pretty sure you can relocate the fender liner further forward to clear. Check out Dissent Offroad's LC250. They stuffed 38s lol.
Thats just wild
Jon great video, beautiful LC, I like both combo's, smaller AT tires with those be perfect, personally have two sets for my old 2012FJ, use more aggressive set when doing any serious off roading. Have had a couple LC 80&100 miss both. like the 250 a lot! Look forward to additional coverage of it.
Thanks man!
Rims look soooo much better just drop a tire size. Having bigger everyday just cause only cots you money and wear on everything every day for what?
Waiting on our heritage blue FE to arrive this week too. I just want to put meatier tires on it and maybe a front level kit. I like the stock black wheels but want to put some hair on its chest. Just my opinion tho. It's your ride, do what floats your boat. 😊👍
In your garage I thought, why!?! But, dude, out in the sun those bad boys are SICK.
Sun allows it to POP for sure.
Has to be wheels with some machine silver in the finish, so machine silver highlights with matt black inlays.
Looks Terrible, sorry! On the Sequoia yes, on the Landy, NO! Keep it the way it was, please...
Thanks for your sharing. After watching your excellent video. I would lower the density in the wheel arches with the help of 285.70.18 tires. And you get a gift of about half an inch extra for belly height.
Great tip!
black matte wheels +25 offset with 2 inch max lift so you don't rub the bellows on the CV boots.
I dig the polished look with the blue/greyscape. Waiting on my LC (Meteor Shower) and picked up some of those TRD Pro wheels myself. Should be a good look, I hope!
Good choice!
Wow, the Land Cruiser looks so damn good with new shoes! I wouldn’t even care about mpg loss lol
If you really want to set it off, I would go with white wheels to match the roof
