Good points but just to add to the hate point some people were more just constantly frustrated with him because his first touch in tight areas was generally awful for such a great player. On the flip side there haven’t been many players who can strike a ball as well as him
That's because the media made him to be better than he actually is. He's been on the decline since 26 when your peak years are supposed to be 25-28 after Cr7 and Tevez left he has been bang average scoring the odd wonder goal. He apart from Keane, is probably the closest to an ideal Fergie player. Had the same drive (/madness) to win games, matched with good talent. But what always stood out for me was the will, the desire a bit like Sir Alex himself.
I remember Rooney's first few seasons at Man United. He was incredible. He was the biggest star in the team with Ronaldo. I could see his goals on Match of the Day almost every weekend. MOTD back in mid-2000s was all about Rooney, Ronaldo, Henry, Vieira, Lampard, Robben, Gerrard.

Brilliant insight to playing against a team who will hurry off the ball, the crowd being an extra player. Really hope he works out as a manager. Fantastic brain.
Wayne Rooney is arguably the greatest Prem player of all time. Right behind Alan Shearer in goals and a lot of the time he took the backseat to Ronaldo and Van Persie when realistically he was very capable of going into business for himself successfully. What a team player for someone so talented.

Brilliant insight to playing against a team who will hurry off the ball, the crowd being an extra player. Really hope he works out as a manager. Fantastic brain.
Go on ROONEEEEEEEEEY WHAT A LEGEND " THE WHITE PELE " ALWAYS WILL BE A UNITED LEGEND
And scouse
Great to hear Wazza's take on that golden era between 2004 - 2009 .... Chelsea vs Man Utd back then at Stamford Bridge was an almighty clash.

His Goal against West Ham is still fresh in our minds,,, was it not 58 yards or sth?
As a Liverpool fan I must say Wayne rooney was the most committed player on the field against whomever he played and the most underrated
