My first rule as a female solo traveler is TRUST YOUR GUTS. I 100% prefer to maybe miss out a wonderful opportunity (if the person is genuinely trying to be nice/helpful) than put myself in danger. Instinct is a powerful tool, don't forget to use it 🧡
It really takes courage to travel solo and definitely takes a lot of courage (and a lot of common sense) to walk through cities. I remember going to Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic and I had googled a restaurant after doing some walking around and on my way there, I was stopped by police and they told me to under no circumstances I should go to the restaurant I had picked because it was in a very dangerous part of the city...
@@emmaketeler they were very kind about it and even gave me a ride back to where I was coming from. They were basically like “nope, try again.” I then learned that the DR has a police force specifically for tourism and helping tourist.
