Respect to Jordie Barrett for giving youngsters a chance to take the game, great teammate!
I'm South African so not whinging about my team but that red card seems a tad absurd.
Maybe a problem with no right arm in tackle but I've only seen the hilites.
Was it the No2???........he went pretty low into the tackle.
I don't know........these players don't have seconds to react, they have milliseconds.
Someone should do a scientific analysis of the impossibility that players are supposed to exercise.
he wrapped his arms.
It's easy
Yellow card should be 🔟min long.
Orange card should be 2️⃣0️⃣min
AND if there is too much force in contact, then it should be a Red card consisting of 4️⃣0️⃣min only😂
@@SoIDecidedToTypeThis full reds should be for non rugby misconduct only.
Nah yellow 5 red 20 it still has an impact on the game but doest ruin it
General consensus is that it was a ridiculous call. The bunker said “no mitigation” which is insane. What else is he meant to do? He got low and made the attempt to wrap.
you must roll away with 7 guys on top of you
Yeah it’s a little hard ay man!? 😂 what a joke. Not saying anything but your comment does sound like a bad night out for a straight brother
There was only 2 guys and he did have a 1/10th of a second to get out of there.
How low is the tackler supposed to get lower in the first tackle without risking serious injury? NO mitigation is a JOKE

AND if there is too much force in contact, then it should be a Red card consisting of 4️⃣0️⃣min only😂
"No mitigation shall be applied to always illegal or intentional acts of foul play."
As it was a shoulder charge with no wrap, the player was never going to make a legal tackle. Therefore he does not get mitigation.
Chiefs supporter. Well played Canes. Hard cheese boys, twas not t'be. Looking bright for the ABs with this sorta quality play in depth.
Quality?,the chiefs defense is shocking, discipline terrible
Brilliant game of rugby, have to say.
Congrats Hurricanes on the win. There's been some talk about the ref through the game, but I want to thank the Waikato fans turning up and being part of a famous derby.
Is it the first time in NZ so far in the comp the stadium is full?
Ruben Love was brilliant under the high ball. Surely the next all black fullback
Not even the best fullback on the field mate, Stevenson clear
@@jacksonsmith4480 Stevenson sucks this year, he should have gotten a yellow card for his high tackle
I have no idea what’s happening never seen a rugby game in my life. But this is badass im a chiefs fan now
Last penalty for not rolling away, very questionable, the player has made the tackle, released the tackled player, kicking his legs on the ground, signalling to the ref that he cannot roll away, ball was somewhere under the ruck.
Very questionable penalty 😢😢
nah clean cut. kick your legs...nah its roll away...thats why the ref took THAT long. i agree he was stuck but had to make an effort
that's what you get for not making a dominant tackle
2 Canes players pinned the tackler. No way he could roll away. Ref is the witness of two canes players crime yet he penalised the victom...He chose the easy way out and tell everyone he got no feeling of the game....its sad
penalty may be questionable, but the Canes played 2 extra minutes with a man down for the red card cause the clock wasn't put back on and in the second half they had Naholo sent to the bin for God knows what
In the old days they would call that an unplayable ball and award a scrum to the attacking team. Now they go straight to a penalty. They’ve tried to speed up the game. Rugby is a complicated sport with tons of grey areas
The Hurricanes deserved that win well done !
How was the tackler supposed to move at that last breakdown? I get that the tackler has a responsibility to find himself on the right side of the ruck after making a tackle, but hard to see how 3 players of the attacking team are allowed to pin the tackler, not giving him a chance to move at all.
I get rugby is also about mastering the dark arts, but it's a pretty obvious loophole and pretty obvious to see when attacking teams milk the penalty. Just a comment. Don't harass me or question if I even know the rules of rugby. Or threaten my family and dog.
I'm coming for your dog!
Trapping players in had been a tactic for years, part of the game. When you make a shot ur meant to swing round asap. He shouldn’t have gone for the hit at that angle knowing he’d likely be trapped
Referee is closer to that then you or me, he knows the score
I hope your family and your dog have a lovely weekend sir
You are spot on, defo milking a pen to win….
What a crowd, what a game 👍
The Barret brothers has the best try scoring dive and slide of all. Change my mind
Zero arguments from me, like a damn backyard slip n slide!

Joe is most definitely the king of the diving try slide 😅
Refs just looking for penalties & cards..the sad thing now is World Tournaments are going to be decided by this lunacy, why pay a fortune to travel to games wherever and watch this constant dribble from Refs...theres no feel for a game, no one knows when the whistle goes whats happening...
Agreed...
YEP , this penalty situation is well otta control,..one team has 16 players icluding the ref ? ..the other team will always loose !
..mind you 3 points the difference ....was it at all possible to go the other way ? .

Paul Williams, been ruining games for years.
@@eyeofrage7025 Yep ,that's just one reason ! ..In my own opinion , the other thing ferkin -up the game is this BLOODY BULLOCKING BULLSHIT within 10 15 meters of the TRY Line !!!...two packs of over steriod-muscle bound HUGE CAJONES( BALLS ) goin macho macho against each other ..a bit like watching male goats headbutting each other.... & it's getting worse & worse ...mind you , I know some RUGBY fans like this pack pushing BS ...but RUGBY starts with RU , meaning RUN ? ...maybe it should be called PUGBY,..as in PU, ( PUSH ) ? ..it appears to be getting all american can of crap !.
Great match
Looking from across the ditch....Such a good game,
Sooooo many cards I love union but officials are slowly killing this game.
Hi from Brasil !!!
Immense canes, blues should be sweating come the final
The clock wasn’t even at 80 when the hooter went.
Ref uses the stadium clock afaik. The broadcast clock is independant.
I dunno, that last penalty was a bit iffy; player made an attempt to roll but with 3 100kg+ players on top of you.. not much else you can do
DMac was pretty quiet in both games against the' Canes. Didn't/couldn't really stamp his authority. Kinda feel like BC outplayed him in both games.
does anyone else get the sense mc millan has taken a different tack with the round robin this year.? they wouldn't go out there to loose, but they might go out their with specific instructions to not be able to do certain things..and instead try and win playing another way, which is practice for one part of the overall game plan. At the same time keeping the ace up the sleeve? dmac most definitely quiet in the canes games and the chiefs kicking a lot less. than usual in the last few games. loosing in a final last year after dominating all through the round robin must have some impact on his approach. maybe its just the canes put on too much pressure at break down - which they did. anyway canes also down some very good players, particularly aumua and lomax. chiefs lacking the grunt in the tight 5 this year.
Not sure how the tackler could have rolled away in that ruck! 😅 that's rugby! Nice tight game despite the new enforced rest rules for players. Compare that to brumbies and rebels..
This was a good game to watch
Xavier Numia 🔥
good bit of pace and shifted off the left and right foot. apparently he was a 12 in his highschool days then started eating too much kfc ( his own words )
Lots of players have gotten a penalty for not rolling away even when players were on top of them. It is pretty damn normal. But the ref was unfair for both sides. Stop saying he was in the Canes favour
its a bit confusing because the players manipulate the laws, ( as you would ) but in this case it was a dominant tackle and there was no chance he can roll away. however the ref agrees with you and even gave him a verbal warning. i think its a load of bollocks because the defensive player outplayed the attacking player fair and square. if he stayed laying on the tackled player without 300kilos worth of opposing players laying their dead weight on him the nana second he made the hit i would agree with you both also. bottom line the palyers playing cynically are the ones who got the penalty. ( and won the game ) in saying all that canes deserved the W too.
Helluva Game
Most enjoyable
THANK YOU KINDLY
All round…‼️

Yoh what a game
Very well played game by ALB. The small high iq plays on offence and defence 👌 intangibles
agree!
Bad reffing for that last penalty surely. The bloke was deliberately trapped in there by the Hurricanes players, no matter how much he tried to wriggle out. Especially at 17 all with a couple of minutes to go.
what an exciting match, unlucky boys you fulla's did us proud tho.
There can be only "One", The High flying, High Octane, High & Mighty Hurricanes continue to pillage & plunder their opponents homegrounds reaping the rewards of absolute Victory. While staring into the fears & tribulations of adversity, the Hurricanes as unstoppable as a, well hurricane. Will be the main draw card & top favourite to outright win the 2024 super rugby championship. ❤🎉
I’m sorry but what is the hurricane player suppose to do to tackle the chiefs player? The red was ridiculous.
I think they wanted him to be flush with the ground and wrap his little toes because then that wouldnt be dangerous. But lets not talk about a runner dropping his shoulder and head into a tackle to either shoulder charge the lowered head of the defender, or look for a free penalty. The dude was 6+ feet tall and somehow dropped to below 3 feet in that tackle, but it was the tacklers fault for not being even lower...😮💨
@@dratah4615 yup silly rules
He made no attempt to wrap his arms; if he had, there would have been mitigation and no red card.
@@dratah4615 AGREED! I blew up at that. There's no way he could've gone any lower without being prone. Both player were low. Nothing the #2 could do in that.
@@magpieasm5169 regardless of wrapping or not, the runner initiated the foul play. The tackler definitely did an islander shoulder tackler, that's a fair point. But had the runner not dipped as low as possible it would have been just a penalty for not wrapping no card on first offense if they hit their hips. At some point it becomes more dangerous to tacklers when they drop like that.
how was N8 supposed to roll away after the tackle?
I was at that game...
The siren going off while 10 seconds to play is a bit funny

These cards r rubbish that first one the ball carrier is horizontal head first very low the tackler was tackling correctly gotta start blaming ball carriers for these “head highs”
The fact that there was no wrap doesn’t matter then. Southern hemisphere rugby needs to accept the laws rather than complaining through ignorance
