There actually was a dog fight involving a B-17 during WW2 on 16 June 1943 while on a mapping mission Old 666 under the command of at that time Capt. Jay Zeamer (retired as a Lt Col) came under nearly impossible odds when they were attacked by close to 50 Japanese fighters for well over an hour. The mission resulted in 2 of the aircrew receiving the Medal of Honor Zeamer being one of them after being hit by enemy fire and continuing to somehow keep "Lucy" in the air despite the injuries sustained and the other being 2nd Lt Joseph Sarnoski who while mortally wounded managed to not only crawl back to his mounted .50 cal located in the nose of the aircraft but also with his last breath took out a Japanese fighter that almost certainly would have brought down 666 had it completed its attack. for the crew that did not receive the MOH they would all receive the Distinguished service cross which in the Army is second only to the Medal of Honor.
12:55 fun fact the Consolidated B-24 Liberator aka the Flying Coffin was used in the Pacific as a dive bomber as well as a level bomber, one of its famous dive bombing campaigns was on Wake Island in the dead of night which had the famous Louis "Torrence Tornado" Zamperini as a Bombardier for one of those B-24s named "Superman"
I was a part of the bomber team, and I must say the Spain map was probably the most fun since it felt very slow paced and we had time to climb and get to the objectives. The intercept would have looked cool if I wasn't kamikazed by an AI jet (yes, i actually got kamikazed by an AI)

yo have made a fatal mistake, for you have used my favourite plane in a video. now you will suffer the consequences by learning way too much. the me 262 design started September 1939, a month after the first jet flew. the prototype was powered by a junkers-jumo piston engine because of trouble with the turbojets. when it flew under jet power, both the engines flamed out, the pilot managed to enable the piston engine to land the "jet". the Messerschmitt me 262's engines were **inhales* junkers-jumo 004 axial-flow compressor-type turbojets. they were very unreliable and only had a life of 25 hrs, mainly because of the cheap materials used in them. 10 likes for pt 2
Fun fact: when the Me-262 went into testing, they used a spitfire for the testing of the guns. With one short burst, the Me-262 cut the spitfire in half.

@@mighty_bomber5907 In real life Me-262's engines were quite fragile and prone to catching fire so any damage sustained from bomber gunners won't be just a minor inconvenience.
So there is this thing called test flight and if you go to the bottom left theres like a custom battle thingy but for you So i tried to do B-17 vs Me-262 and i got shredded by machine guns as soon i got close
"we managed to do it somehow" As if it was a fair fight. If I hosted this event I'd only allow one strike team of 2 maybe 3 me-262s max because they would annihilate any sloppy formations but struggle to make it out of tight ones. And the rest be BF-109s with only 2 20mms with the air burst rounds so that they can't just snipe from an unrealistic range. A group of B-17s going against a team of me-262s is just boring. It's just a slaughter. Not to mention probably pretty unfun for the B-17s since one 30mm round slices them in half in Warthunder. Maybe I'd even allow a few escort fighters for the B-17s or an American strike group of B-25s that have a separate mission and can carry out that mission however they want. Just something to mix it up. I've been apart of events like this and it's unfun on both sides.
