I seriously cant thank you enough! You really made this so easy for me. First time Ive ever cleaned my fan coz it was making a really horrible noise and now it actually feels brand new again!!! I did end up using a little bit of soap though, it was shocking to see how much filth and dust that came off but even the air its blowing out now is stronger (even on its lowest setting). Thank you for being a real one!
First time I have fixed my fan without help getting help from my husband...thanks..👏👏
I can't thank you enough for this.. I cleaned my fan for the first time ever, all on my own😪... Pretty proud of myself😅... Thank you so much❤
Oh my gosh! This video was SO helpful! When you started to go into the motor cover, I thought "okay-now he's going too far." Until I saw what was in there!! Believe it or not, mine was worse! Yuk. Thank you So much for posting!!
Glad it helped!
@@fuzzy34r I was almost done with disassembling it but now I've been sitting here for 30 minutes figuring how to remove the oscillating. I have the same identical fan as yours but with the oscillating knob.
There's no screw and when I lift it up it just stays there. I can lift up the entire fan by holding on to the knob and the knob just stays there.
Thanks for saving me 30 dollars! I think what I took from your help the most was not how to actually go about disassembling, (because that's usually the easy part, you see a screw, unscrew it) but knowing that I can follow your lead without any risk. That's usually the most intimidating part of fixing something is for me, that unless I can watch someone else do it first, I'll be afraid to break something or zap myself by accident.
Thanks! Glad it helped!
Omg yes! Spot on! I have the same issue... if I see someone do it once i am comfort doing it by myself
For some dumb reason, I never thought about cleaning my standing fan. I had it on all the time, and it got extremely dirty and linty. To the point where I barely felt any air coming out. I am absolutely shocked at how much better my fan is working now that I gave it a super deep clean. It's crazy that I waited so long to do so becos the difference is incredible! Don't be a dummy like me 😂! Make sure all of your fans are cleaned, especially if you dont have aircon and going into summer!
Thank you for your comment! Glad the video was informative!
It's quiet, it really blows, it's elegant looking, ruclips.net/user/postUgkxmj9RYGCX25BElHkuWjHec-2_muyUGyCm remote is handy. Not too difficult to assemble (see below)The assembly instructions left out a few tips, IMHO (see photo for my tips)Oh, and be patient when you attach the cage halves together (last step). You might want to loosen the screw just a little bit before you start. It's awkward (don't drop it!), but you'll get it.
This video give me the courage to open up and clean my good old fan. I will do it tomorrow morning. SUBSCRIBED.
Thank you! Happy cleaning!
Thank you! After almost 3 years of usage my fan takes a while to gain speed... cleaning is long due... this video got rid of any hesitation I had towards unassembling the fan to clean the motor
That is fantastic. Cleaning your fan will go a long way prolonging its lifespan.
*I like how quiet it is, how well it works and **Fastly.Cool** , This was perfect to help air out a guest room and to use instead of AC when I only want one room kept cool. Works great!*
Thanks a lot, I just cleaned mine today and it's working like a champ.
Welcome. Sometimes, household devices just need some cleaning up to restore its performance.
Thank you for your video! It's informative. I just deep cleaned my stand fan now and currently putting the casing back. Thanks again!
Welcome! Glad it helped!
Thanks for this bro! I just cleaned my fan and it feel soo much faster because the debris has cleared out
Well done! A clean motor runs cooler and stresses the components less.
Wow I was struggling till I saw this video ,thank you!👍💯👏
Welcome! Glad to hear that it helped.
This worked great! Saved time and I even found my neighbor's pet hamster, "Mr Bigglesworth," ALIVE in my fan crud! Got him out and he's fine. Lost over a year ago. Safe.
How did the hamster survive an ENTIRE year inside all the fan dust??
My lasko standing fan has been making an obnoxious rattle/buzzing noise for months now, it gets better when I clean the blades. I’ve been wondering if I could take the housing off the motor and this video is helpful! Now I’m gonna go by some compressed hair and blast away all the lint and hair out of the motor and stuff
I never do deep clean 🥺 thanks for this info
This saved me a lot of money. Thank you.
Thats great! Glad it helped!
Thank you.You made it look so easy for me as a woman to do my fans
Welcome! It is easy when you know how to do it!
Thanks for the video, I had a squeaking fan and could not open beyond the blade. Found a rubber stopper that had a screw behind it. Cleaned and sprayed with WD40. Squeak gone.
Nice. Sometimes, all it needs is a little cleaning.
@Bud Monk : How is it working now? I see so many people in RUclips on another tutorial videos are against the use of WD40 as it will wash out the grease. They advise us to use this type of oil like the one shown in this video or the engine oil.
@@NANCYDREWCHANNEL So far working well only. I didn't know WD40 had that effect. Probably will use engine oil next time.
Thank you so much for this video, a real life saver 🥰
You are welcome! Glad it was useful!
Thank you so much! I'm a complete noob with these and tried to clean it without taking it apart but that didn't work haha
Amazing 🤩 I love it because I need to clean my fan 🌾
Glad to hear that!
Thank you so much for showing how to clean the fan. I didn’t know how to remove the back grill, and you show Ed how. I will try to do all this tomorrow. Is it necessary to oil the parts? Or just clean will do?
Oiling the bearings/bushings will help keep it smooth for and extend its lifespan.
thanks budy i just now wash my fan just now my fan was ditry and now is clean. 50 like for you.
Welcome! Glad it helped
Nice video. A-cleaning a go!
I take something apart I'm never getting it back together again. I've learned my lesson many times
Its realy helpful
Glad it helped
I don't touch the motor. But, after watching this, I may. Next year. I just cleaned my fans and put them away for the season.
Nice. May your fans last a long time!
lol I'm excited to clean my fan, it doesn't feel like a fan anymore becuz it's a 100x dustier than that T_T. Thank you!
Thanks!
Thanks
Hi, will the fan casing rust after u wash it with water?
Thank you
Welcome!
1:14 was that easy to pull off? I think mine is clamped down or something; I can't just pull the front off to remove it. Know anything about that?
When you opened the motor housing, I was like “Eww, look at all that dust and dirt and filth. Ugh! It’s a wonder that fan still works at all. Probably doesn’t anymore. Yuck!” But then at 1:44, when you said “EWW!” That sealed it for me. I just busted out laughing out loud so hard my sides hurt. But you’re right, though. Eww! How in the world did that fan, especially the motor get so filthy?
Haha, glad it entertained you. The fan sucks in air to cool the motor, but it also inevitably gathers dust from the surroundings over time.
Why all the fast motion photography?
@@HuskyDog88 I reckon it will bore too many people if I don’t fast forward some of the slower scenes.
Could you use bike chain lubricant to oil your fan? (Its all I've got at the moment).
I have tried bicycle chain lubricant and it worked for me too.
I'm a fan! 😂
I had a pedestal fan that was running pretty much 24/7. About 4 months later it's started to squeak and get rather noisy. Then just stopped spinning. Would this cleaning method and oiling ensure it'll work again? Or no promises? After the cleaning and oil treatment I would suggest to everyone is turn it on and make sure it's spinning again before putting everything back together.
Interesting song
thanks!
Is the oiling compulsory?
We've got an older unit that has gotten weaker and weaker on its lowest speed. I clean the blades and cage frequently enough but have not taken apart the casing to get at the other bits yet. I wonder, might it be necessary to clean motor as well?
I don't clean the motor just like he did in the video but I'm afraid I might mess something up and I don't want my fan to be on fire (。ŏ﹏ŏ) but I only clean the outside of the motor, my fan is still working fine and the speed is fastest as ever (I clean them every months on holiday, I don't want to clean them during my school year so I took the advantage during free time, I just finished doing homework yesterday)
Was about to buy a new fan. Saved me like 30$
Glad it helped. All these small savings add up in the long run.
I'm assuming in this video you cleaned a working fan. Well my fan is completely dead, I removed the first couple of parts on my own (up until the part with screws) and cleaned out hair and dust, but it still doesn't work at all when I plug it in. Should I bother unscrewing the internal parts to clean or is it just dead at this point? I'm a real cheapskate and hate spending money if I don't have to, lol.
Thank u so much for this video. Very helpful for first timer like me 😊 icould’nt do it without your video. Credit to uncle fix it 😊🌈🫠
I can’t remove the blades for some reason, why is that?
I have a lasko pedestal fan with a metal front cover & plastic back cover. There are no clips to remove the cover just plastic pieces holding it in place. How can I remove the metal cover without breaking the plastic backing?
It's probably held together by pressure. Try putting a shoe string between a couple of the tines (about 3-4 in apart). Pull gently.
@@atlknight1 I’ll try that!
Funny I have a mistral but a smaller one
I was thinking, why remove the back? Then you opened it😱😱😱
Can you use any kind of oil?.Thx
light oils only! Fans attract dust and heavy sticky oils will quickly gunk up the mechanical parts.
my motor doesn't have a screw case it only has a plastic thing in the back help
You may have to search for other videos that feature your type of fan. Sorry!
i just searched for this cuz i havent been cleaning mine for 8 years
Is it ok if we replace the oil with WD40 spray?
Hmm… wd40 is a very light solvent. While it may improve the fan for a while, it will evaporate easily, leaving it dry again. Best to use oil instead.
What is the name of the tool used to remove the fan cover?
I can't believe we are the only two who are specifically searching this answer out. >
Screwdriver?
I tried it but the top part was not coming off l tried to clean it from outside but it's still not working.
Your fan may be slightly different. Some fans have a screw at the oscillation knob. Hope it helps.
The blade is unoriginal is from an older 2004 kdk fan
How much is capacitor for mistral fan ?
It really depends on where you are and whether you are buying online or from a physical shop.
Is the oil safe to use?
Yes, any light machine oil is suitable. In fact, for older fans, there is a small pad surrounding the shaft that is pre-filled with oil from the factory. The oil in the pad slowly dries out over time and would be great if it could be replenished.
Can i use wd40 instead of the singer oil?
Yes, but wd40 is very light. You may have to apply wd40 more often to keep it lubricated. Otherwise, any light machine oil will work.
@@fuzzy34r Ok kool. Thnx very much
Are the blades fixed at wrong side of fan?, or it doesnt matter which way...lol
For some reason I can't remove the bolt that connects the neck 😂
Mine Soo hard to open 😭
My fan motor heats up pretty fast , could you please help
Hi, if your fan motor is heating fast, you might want to try to turn the fan blades by hand (with the fan switched off) to see if it feels rough. If it is rough, chances are, the bearings are worn. The only way is to replace new bearings.
Hope it helps!
@@fuzzy34r thanks for your reply , I figured out the problem , the motor was too dirty form the inside and the bearings needs oil , so I cleaned the motor and oil the bearings and it's now working fine , thank you
@@fuzzy34r my pedestal fan stopped and I tried to manually spin the blades and it was sluggish/tight. So my guess is the bearings wore out over several months of 24/7 running.
Cleaning your fan with a bag
Should of shown you unplugged the fan first! As people are stupid! 😂
Thanks for the feedback!
