So many memories! Thank you. I had Tutti Frutti, Spiky Harold, so many of these. Loved Trailblazer.

"Squirm" my childhood favourite there, I was about 4 years old or a bit older when we had a Commodore 16 in our home, then years later a Commodore 128.. Nostalgia

C16 did have a lot of good games.
    A very underrated machine.

I like how a lot of the games were roughly grouped by similar gameplay. Also, I didn't realize how many decent scrolling shooters the Commodore 16 had. I would've thought it would have mostly Galaxian clones.

I was also surprised about that. Some other platforms that were more successful commercially, sorely lack some good scrolling shooters.

Great Vid! The only games I completed on my Commodore was Treasure Island and Ikarai Warriors. I think most games were made unbeatable though. Love Squirm to this day.

Rock Man, Mega Bolts and Tom Thumb very my favorites.
I remember Tube Runner being reviewed in a German magazine "Compute mit". It was top graphics at that time for the C16 :)

Three things that disturb me after re-watching:
I left in 1:32 It's not shoddy hit detection, I wanted to turn and go back on the trail I came on, but it's not possible.
5:12 It looks right at 50fps, but on the video, not.
    8:26 I didn't get what I was supposed to do :D

Yeah , it always had that air around it. The unfortunate little sibling. Compared to the C64 and looked at with pity.

tresure island was not avalable on the c16 it was a plus 4 exclusive i remmember a freind who couldnt use it because he had a commodoer 16

Hm, interesting, didn't notice. According to Plus/4 World, it's a 32K game, so not really Plus/4 specific either, more like RAM expansion.
As for games not working on just a C16, it's not always an indication, in case the games were pirated. Old cracks of C16 games were often done on Plus/4, and got a bit bigger in size than the retail original.

      In no particular(ly planned) order:
-Tom Thumb: of course! It has so much to offer, in just 16k!
-Auto Zone: simple, challenging, colorful, and has smooth scrolling
-Berks: it's like it turns the C16/+4 into an Atari 2600, and you don't even mind for it
-Airwolf II: few (low budget) games came close to capture the gameplay essence of Gradius, but this one does. If only it scrolled to the right...
-Reach for the Sky: button bashing fun
      Treasure Island: exploring is fun
-Kickstart: what sounds like a more fun activity than jumping on a trampoline and catching baloons in the air? Doing so while riding on a bike :D
-Project Nova: takes imagination, but travelling around in space is good
-XCellor8: not that much fun to play for long, but the look and feel inspires me
-Auriga: pew, pew, and rasterbar seizures
-Storm: it's more playable than it first looks
-Mr Angry Dude: lots of character, and good puzzles
      (64K ones)
-Csavargás a gombák birodalmában: it's almost like a grand RPG adventure, even tough all you really do is picking and identifying mushrooms
-Időlabirintus: an original concept and so many different minigames
      -Jerry's Quest: snappy and nice
-Dark Side (Tarzan's version): A C64 favourite with slightly higher framerate, and even the music came trough well
-Új Vadnyugat 2: text adventure with a unique setting and humorous writing
-Laser Squad: it feels so modern
-Majesty of Sprites: it's well done, even if it mostly lacks scrolling
-Hugohunt: for almost being like a Pac-Man clone, it's very creative

Couple of years passed and I am still not very used to this "comment-hearting" feature, I put here one now for consistency. Thank you for the kind words.

:D They are some of the best of the library!
I wish there were more of them, I love the design of your C16 games!

Klutzwutz Westwurtzly I was mainly affected by the trippy colours of the early Atari machines, which the C16 could also do. X-)

Glad I had a Speccy instead, these games lack depth, probably due to lack of memory.. (e.g. on Spectrum I loved Highway Encounter)

The gameplay is pretty simple but the graphics look a lot better than the spectrums.

This came out a long time after the spectrum , it was commodores attempt at a budget computer, I had one and also the one after it , the plus 4 , the speccy and the c64 were way more capable than these, but they were charming to a skint family , I mean 129.00 quid with a datasette ,joystick and 11 games , plus a book on how to program basic , this was a no brainier, it had some great games as well

Great video - very informative as ever and a good choice of games to show the system off! This system has been set up in emulation using a forthcoming frontend with my pack of 23 configured C16+4 games. Take a look at it here:

    100 totally unplayable garbage games.
I had a Plus4 in the late 80s. It was fun for making basic programs though.

I wasted a lot of time playing these "unplayable" games as a kid and have many happy memories of them.

They don't look any worse than most Atari 2600 and Intellivision games. Simplistic - yeah, but not garbage.

Some good games there, but some were sinful, Saboteur was particularly poor, worst C16 game of all time was surely Green Beret, it was absolutely awful.
