  • Well today was a very straight forward day, as the main task was to hook-up and and do a full maintenance/check on our New Holland 3 point H6750 Disc Mower. With that said I briefly touch base on one of our older New Holland Sickle mowers which is sitting in the yard and ready for action. The weather is smartening up with rains coming upon us every so often, and with the warm weather this is a great recipe for hay growth! We have more rain forecasted later in the week. I am very optimistic towards this years hay crop as we have recently been lucky with mother nature cooperating with us. This years haying season just might have been saved by that million dollar rain we had received a couple weeks ago. So it is time to get the haying equipment ready to hit the field so we can roll up all that beautiful forage. The New Holland H6750 Disc mower got a full set of blades, Fresh Synthetic oil in all modules/gear box. I also pulled all the turtles off the mower and cut out any stuck debris which is wrapped around the modules/hubs. So come along as I show you how to do some basic maintenance on a New Holland Disc Mower. Cheers 🍻 everyone!

    Good job taking preventive measures with the disc mower. Like I always say, "You take care of the equipment & the equipment will take care of you". It's always good to have a back up mower when mowing hay. Even if it's a old sickle bar mower. Keep up the good work. Stay safe.

      crslyrn , Exactly, just bcuz its old doesn’t mean it doesn’t do the job. That old sickle mower has another 30 years left in it! 🤣 cheers 🍻 my friend.

Guess we will see what the weather tells me. We have to keep ahead of the grasshoppers once they start in on the Alfalfa we have no choice but to start chopping it down and haying!

    Great video! Do you have one looking at the belt and diagnosing it? I have same cutter and it started cutting out some today-assume slipping, so I quit and went home to research because I didn’t have tools with me. it smoked a little but I stopped cleaned it out and will pull shield off tomorrow to see about the belt but would love info on what it should look like… and the oil in the head I assume it’s just gear oil??thanks!!

    • @PrairieSunsetRanch
      @PrairieSunsetRanch  2 года назад +1

      Hi Mike. If you smoked/slipped the belt make sure to tighten it up nice and snug/tight from the top adjustment spring over top of the belt area. I have had to adjust mine frequently depending on how heavy of a crop it’s cutting. Also keep in mind that if you skipped/smoked the belt depending on how bad your belt could be glazed over and it simply won’t grip proper under load. I had that very scenario a year ago where I ended up changing the entire belt. I use a 80w-90 New Holland full synthetic gear oil. It’s fairly expensive but well worth it in my books as those oil baths are taking on a big task lubing up those separate pods. I hope this helps and let me know if you need further info. Cheers 🍻 Mike 👍

    Would either one of your mowers mow down over a ditch bank. The end of the bar drop down? Neither of our sickle mowers do and I wish they would.
