I love that your wife has bought you a ball of tine. I would be very chuffed with that, anything for growing is always appreciated

Everything is looking great in your greenhouses! I bet you’re glad of the extra space now the weather has turned so bad 👍. Wow, the flowers on those hyacinth beans are gorgeous.

Salaams Monty, have you tried Toofan F1 for desi green chillies for curries? Im trying them for the first time this year and I’m astonished how well they’ve done. I have 5 plants and have already picked over 500g of chilis from them and they’re still producing. Maybe it’s something you’d like to try next year. By far the most prolific green chilli variety I’ve ever grown. If you get ground water issues, I’d suggest raised beds. I had the same issue at the allotment and it’s now resolved. Slugs have destroyed my habanero varieties this year and I’m yet to see any of them set fruit. Even the over wintered ones are lame this year. My Emir F1 and Minnesota Midget melons are doing good. I’ve got about 5 fruit per plant grown vertically. Superb varieties to grow in your greenhouse. I also spent a little more money this year and got grafted scorpion aubergines to trial. They’ve grown into trees and I’m picking one 600g aubergine off each plant every 10 days or so, they’re absolutely massive. It’s never been like this and we’ve hardly had any warm weather since June. Definitely one to consider next year if you like your aubergines.

seeds aren't only getting dearer to buy but less reliable for germination. saving seed is the way forward, mate.......................brian

I buy most of my veg seeds from the local pound shop... They are 99p a packet, sometimes 99p for two packets... Germination seems grand. They are seeds by a company called De Ree.
I mostly use the baggie and loo paper germination method... Quicker germination, then plant out once there's roots and shoots. Works a treat. The plants grow a lot better as well.
