Guys, realize that this is a realistic ending. All humans die. The missing soul lived way longer than she was supposed to, so she had to pass. It doesn't make sense for her to randomly become immortal. She is the Goblin's Bride, but the Goblin's Bride only has the job of pulling the sword. No one said she gets to be immortal. If Shin had returned to ashes and reincarnated later, Eun Tak wouldn't remember him even if he remembers her. It was only because he CHOSE to continue living his life as a Goblin that she regained it. Because of this, they can meet for lifetimes later. Also, remember how the Deity said he "may or may not left a door open for them (ShinTak)"? I think by that, he means that when EunTak's 4th and last life is over, the Goblin can choose to walk through the door to afterlife with her, like how the Reaper chose to walk with Sunny once his punishment was over.

yup. It's sad and empty to us because I know we all want a happy, fairytale ending. But although this ending is bittersweet, its happy in a realistic way. It just goes to show that you can't have everything the way you want it, but you can work around it, even if you have to put in a little extra work.
Yes, I remember the deity said that when he was using Deok Hwa's body. The door may open for both of them once Eun Tak's last life is over. The moral of this drama is you need to work hard to get your own happy ending. In the end, it's beautiful.

Both Gong Yoo and Kim Go Eun delivered this scene with a heart, they both deserved an amazing recognition Best Actor and Best Actress, I cant stop crying I don't know what to do anymore, I just felt it 😢
Some of you did not approve the ending, but i think it was brilliant. Sad.. but brilliant.. This is a story about a Goblin. Not actually his love story. His love story was just part of his punishment. His story is about his love to his sister, family, enemy, friend.. and of course his bride.. how to value our lives.. and how to let others value theirs lives.. i just love what Euntak said, "The person leave behind must live a fuller life. You may cry sometime, but you have to laugh a lot. That's the proper response to the love you were given." EunTak being a missing soul must end. And her death was not cruel. It was not a murder or bad luck but It was actually a SACRIFICE - a "SAD LOVE" as they say. In the end, everyone was happy including our Goblin. It was a happy ending indeed. Their story has such a beautiful ending that you cannot find one like it anywhere else. Even though i wept like a baby at the end, I could not have asked for a better ending. It wasnt a traditional "And they live happily ever after" kind of story.
excuse me but I didn't find any clue in this drama that indicates Shin would go with Euntak after her 4th life? Can you show me where you got that idea?
This theory still doesn't give me a closure of this drama. In the drama, though it doesn't state how long must Shin wait between Tak's every reincarnation, but I'm guessing 120yrs (100yrs for her to be reborn with previous life appearance, 20yrs more for her to grow up). That to me is a really long wait, and then the happiness they'll have once they reunite is still not a complete one. She will aged as normal person while Shin doesn't. I think in 900yrs as Goblin, Shin had already got used to this; but not Tak. I can imagine how Tak would feel when she aged while he doesn't. Also he'll have to go through 3 more time of heart-broken parting with his wife at the end of her every reincarnation. In episode 14, when the Almighty asked Shin to rest, he also said "forget everything" - so it meant when Shin rest in peace, he'll have to forget all of his memory. That really sucks since all the memories they spent together is what make this love story shines So in the end of this drama, Shin is still a great yet lonely guardian angel, which lives up to the title but makes fans' heart (like mine) ache like hell

I think it's a good ending. They all died and at the same time, they all lived. One can't be a goblin alone and the two, well, at least they get to live again. Cruel? Not really. They just made them all wait for a happy ending.

My guess is that the writer just wanted to focus on the fact that the Goblin is the great and lonely god who'd rather live than not see his love. He made a foolish choice but proves just how much his love is endless.
its okay and we think it is a happy ending because Eun-tak will keep on reincarnating and will keep her memories and she will still love Shin no matter how many times she will reincarnate and she will always remeber him everytime she is born again. It will be difficult but they will still love each other.

Kudos to both Gong Yoo and to Kim Go Eun...they played this scene so well,Gong Yoo was beyond fantastic here as u could clearly feel his deep deep sorrow...Eun Tak sacrifice in saving those kids rewarded her with reincarnation while keeping all her memories of her life(she refused to drink the tea of oblivion yet even so God permited her to remember either way) and the same appereance,her story coming full circle ending her journey as a missing soul while fate guided her to him again..This was one of KES deepest dramas she wrote,every word has it's meaning and why it's said and will have it's sense later on...
If you guys are crying in these scenes, think about your loved ones, your family, your soulmate. How much pain will you have if you can get to see them like this? Can you bear the sorrow to even step into the teahouse to see their last moment?

Not bad for an ending. You will meet again. At least now im not that bitter. Eun Tak has to die and be reborn again, and live happily ever after with the goblin. At least they live up to the title and still gave in to fan requests. I think the ending is pretty fair for both sides, tvn and the fans. I am glad there's a lot of happy moments between the goblin and his bride. There's a lot for me to remember and cherish. I love them both. ThNk you for such a wonderful drama TvN!

Bernadeth Ruiz Kim Go Eun definitely slayed this role so was the Goblin. They were tailored for their roles. I wouldn't have loved them this much if they fell short. Their chemistry hallmarks this drama. I would love to see them again together. The bromance also had me enjoying the show. All the cast did a very good job. I just wished i didnt feel the pain of the goblin when Eun Tak died. But i choose to see the ending in a positive way though i still didnt see ep 16 yet, ive seen clips but it already broke my heart but the ending had me hoping again for true love. I love Gong Yoo in Goblin just as i love him in coffee prince. My one wish is for Go Eun and Gong Yoo to just materialize my fantasy of true love in real life but maybe its just wishful thinking and i wont feel bad if it remained that way.

After watching the final episode in english sub, i could understand why the writer ended the story like this. It's a happy ending for me, both for the 2 couples. For anyone who is complaining the ending, watch the final episode first and see whether you are agree with me, if you already watched and still think this is not a happy ending..guess you just could not move on from the sweetness of the couples and the drama has took your life😄. Which i could understand...now just give your energy to ship on Gong yoo and Go eun in real life..❤️

I think it's not equal between 2 lost. When Shin lost Tak, he has time to grieve probably and eventually is able to deal with it. When Tak lost Shin, right after that, her memory of him was erased by the Almighty. She has been depressed for the whole 9 years without knowing the cause of her depression. Everytime it rains, she would cry and be heartbreak. So in the whole 9 years when he was gone, she couldn't deal with her lost at all. So I think being able to remember your loved one is a rewards after all,right?

Yes I'm so so happy with the ending, they'll marry each other again and live happily through her 4 lives, although Kim shin will have to wait, i believe he will, considering he waited what, 30 years before he found her? It's true love, and he'll wait for her. After her four lives are done, they'll both go into afterlife together. It's the goblins choice to stay alive, and when their time is done, they'll leave the world together. Fuck, it's such a beautiful love story.
My second favourite series after CLOY. Some of the heart warming scenes and the last episode had me in tears. I am attached to music and I felt joy in spiritual level.
He has cried about 900 years for all the deaths of the one he knows and perhaps this is the most painful one for him to bear- losing his wife. He already clear whatever he owes why did this again to him, really feeling unfair for him, he deserves a better life after all the sadness. I can accept the grim and sunny reincarnation at least both of them, just let Kim Shin and Eun Tak live together while waiting grim and sunny reincarnated and reunion with them, then this would be fair all the way to everyone.
Thomas Lik Same here. He only have his wife for about one day. To think he finally found happiness..then God gave him a cruel hand. And he had to wait so long for Eun Tak to be reincarnated. About 60 years. Wang Yeo and Sunny who died later seems to be reincarnated earlier than her.

In episode 14, when the Almighty asked Shin to rest, he also said "forget everything" - so it meant when Shin rest in peace, he'll have to forget all of his memory.
That really sucks since all the memories they spent together is what make this love story shines
So in the end of this drama, Shin is still a great yet lonely guardian angel, which lives up to the title but makes fans' heart (like mine) ache like hell

My guess is that the writer just wanted to focus on the fact that the Goblin is the great and lonely god who'd rather live than not see his love. He made a foolish choice but proves just how much his love is endless.
its okay and we think it is a happy ending because Eun-tak will keep on reincarnating and will keep her memories and she will still love Shin no matter how many times she will reincarnate and she will always remeber him everytime she is born again. It will be difficult but they will still love each other.

Kudos to both Gong Yoo and to Kim Go Eun...they played this scene so well,Gong Yoo was beyond fantastic here as u could clearly feel his deep deep sorrow...Eun Tak sacrifice in saving those kids rewarded her with reincarnation while keeping all her memories of her life(she refused to drink the tea of oblivion yet even so God permited her to remember either way) and the same appereance,her story coming full circle ending her journey as a missing soul while fate guided her to him again..This was one of KES deepest dramas she wrote,every word has it's meaning and why it's said and will have it's sense later on...

Not bad for an ending. You will meet again. At least now im not that bitter. Eun Tak has to die and be reborn again, and live happily ever after with the goblin. At least they live up to the title and still gave in to fan requests. I think the ending is pretty fair for both sides, tvn and the fans. I am glad there's a lot of happy moments between the goblin and his bride. There's a lot for me to remember and cherish. I love them both. ThNk you for such a wonderful drama TvN!
BAPlicious Your right, actually the ending is perfect. the goblin and euntak's love story will last for infinite number of lifetime since they know how life and death works. The down side is, the goblin will have to wait all over again and eun tak will die for how many times again.

BAPlicious yeah right...you know in the past I've never guessed that eun tak has to die..I definitely hate and avoided that idea,but it really happened. .I'm stucked here between sad and happy ending!but when I think about it though writer-nim is quite cruel,...but she has a point to wrapped up her story and end like that!..i have high hopes for the next great dramas from tvN and writer-nim kim eun sook ...but of course I'm looking forward for the next project of kim go eun!whoever his lead man would be, I'm sure she would shine.
Bernadeth Ruiz Kim Go Eun definitely slayed this role so was the Goblin. They were tailored for their roles. I wouldn't have loved them this much if they fell short. Their chemistry hallmarks this drama. I would love to see them again together. The bromance also had me enjoying the show. All the cast did a very good job. I just wished i didnt feel the pain of the goblin when Eun Tak died. But i choose to see the ending in a positive way though i still didnt see ep 16 yet, ive seen clips but it already broke my heart but the ending had me hoping again for true love. I love Gong Yoo in Goblin just as i love him in coffee prince. My one wish is for Go Eun and Gong Yoo to just materialize my fantasy of true love in real life but maybe its just wishful thinking and i wont feel bad if it remained that way.

After watching the final episode in english sub, i could understand why the writer ended the story like this. It's a happy ending for me, both for the 2 couples. For anyone who is complaining the ending, watch the final episode first and see whether you are agree with me, if you already watched and still think this is not a happy ending..guess you just could not move on from the sweetness of the couples and the drama has took your life😄. Which i could understand...now just give your energy to ship on Gong yoo and Go eun in real life..❤️

I love how, even though it was not out right said, that Eun Tak will go through her 4 lives and her and the Golin can go into the afterlife together. Their story has such a beautiful ending that you cannot find one like it anywhere else. Even though i wept like a baby at the end, I could not have asked for a better ending. It wasnt a traditional "And they live happily ever after" kind of story. It shows how love has no boundaries or limits and does not fade with time.

I noticed that director killed both Kim Shin and Euntak and got them back. They exchanged the feeling of losing each other. It's so sad yet so beautiful.

I think it's not equal between 2 lost. When Shin lost Tak, he has time to grieve probably and eventually is able to deal with it.
When Tak lost Shin, right after that, her memory of him was erased by the Almighty. She has been depressed for the whole 9 years without knowing the cause of her depression. Everytime it rains, she would cry and be heartbreak. So in the whole 9 years when he was gone, she couldn't deal with her lost at all.
So I think being able to remember your loved one is a rewards after all,right?

It was bittersweet ending actually but I'm happy to following this drama from the beginning. The cast, story and ost are perfectly matched. Yes I'm so so happy with the ending, they'll marry each other again and live happily through her 4 lives, although Kim shin will have to wait, i believe he will, considering he waited what, 30 years before he found her? It's true love, and he'll wait for her. After her four lives are done, they'll both go into afterlife together. It's the goblins choice to stay alive, and when their time is done, they'll leave the world together. Fuck, it's such a beautiful love story.

He already clear whatever he owes why did this again to him, really feeling unfair for him, he deserves a better life after all the sadness. I can accept the grim and sunny reincarnation at least both of them, just let Kim Shin and Eun Tak live together while waiting grim and sunny reincarnated and reunion with them, then this would be fair all the way to everyone.
Thomas Lik Same here. He only have his wife for about one day. To think he finally found happiness..then God gave him a cruel hand. And he had to wait so long for Eun Tak to be reincarnated. About 60 years. Wang Yeo and Sunny who died later seems to be reincarnated earlier than her.
