I don't know man. I have great battery life and honestly after I've tried S24 Ultra I still believe Pixel 8 Pro takes better photos. The colors are just more natural and shutter speed is top notch. Low light photos just gives more pleasant colors and not any yellow hue that I get with S24 Ultra in night mode in some scenarios.

Pixel is the only phone that keeps me away from going back to an iphone. By the way there is a third way to call the Assistant/Gemini is by swipe up from the left or right corner of the screen. You can enable or disable the swipe feature by going to Settings, then Display, and then Navigation Bar.

Been switching back and forth between the SG S24 Ultra and the P8P. Pixel keeps calling me back. It's just the "smartest" Android smartphone and it really has genuinely useful features for me. And the photography is effortless. Both take great photos but i feel like Pixel is best for the point and shoot. And the speech to text is SO much better than Samsung.

Had the 8 Pro in the BEAUTIFUL Bay Blue. Returned it after a week or two because it didn't seem to be worth the money and the UI/UX was sub par to me (coming from S21). Ended up trading in the S21 for the P8 Hazel because it was only $150 out of pocket. It was a steal, but I still didn't 'love' the phone. Ended up getting the S24U and am extremely happy. The only thing I miss from the P8 series in general was the Bay Blue, the haptics, and the animations. It's just too buggy and to 'meh' of an experience for me not to stick with what's tried and true with Samsung. Has nearly all the same features, and more that matter to me, out of the box. Using Good lock too has been phenomenal. I have 6 different side gestures and all the customization at my finger tips without having to download a new OS on Pixel.
Sad because I wanted a Pixel for nearly 6-8 years. This one left a bad taste in my mouth. Especially receiving 2 defective P8's in a row brand new. The feature set they're offering or promising for the quality and performance just isn't there for me. I'm not sure why people love it other than installing new OS's. To each their own.

I've had the Pixel 8 pro since it dropped and I'm pretty happy with it I don't experience any overheating issues thankfully and battery life has been pretty good granted it's not as good as my S24 Plus but still decent enough I unplug at 5:00am in the morning and by the time I'm ready to go to bed at around 10 pm I'm down to about 20% so that's good enough for me and the camera will let's just say it takes some of the best pictures out of all of my devices in my arsenal and I own budget mid-rangers and flagships thanks for the video keep up the good work

Everything you said is bang on.
My carrier had a very aggressive deal on the iPHone 15 Pro max. so I just bit the bullet and went over.
having the pixel 7 pro last summer there were times I couldn't even see the screen as it dimmed so much to manage the heat and I don't want ot repeat that going into this summer.
Battery life on my P8P has just been progressively getting worse for me. 7hours SOT turned to 6 turned to 5 turned to 4.5.

I had the option of getting this phone or the s24plus and i chose the s24 plus because the benchmark score was 3x higher which means its more future proof. Also more places offer repairs for when i need my batter replaced in 3yrs since ill have this phone for the next 5+years. I believe samsung saw into the future that smart phones are not changing much in the future so i assume theyll be investing their money into other resources by making the 24 series so future proof. It just seemed like the right time to go with samsung.

  • @Mark.Offtopic
    @Mark.Offtopic 7 месяцев назад +2

Very good summary, after 4 months I agree with pretty much everything you've said.
I wanted to love the P8P and gave it a chance, but there are far more downsides than upsides.
Main problems are microphone issue, people just can't hear me on calls, telling me it sounds like a very crackly line and USB port having a loose connection. Despite treating my phone like a baby.
Cameras are very capable, but it still oversharpens everything. Portraits have great colour generally, but make everyone look 10 years older by sharpening every pore and line on faces!
Screen honestly doesn't feel any brighter than my Pixel 5 which it replaced. Now it makes sense it's probably just dimming due to overheating when outside.
Taking photos outside during summer I found it hard to see at times it was that dim. Updating apps, backing up photos, it gets pretty hot.
Battery life is crap. If I sit indoors and watch RUclips it does well. But standby battery drain is bad 1-2% per hour overnight on WiFi. It can last a day of light to moderate usage but if I'm taking more photos and videos, it's unlikely to last.
Finally it's super slow to charge. Using an 18W pixel charger or 60W laptop charger it's just damn slow.
It's going back to Google and being replaced with a Xiaomi 14. To top it off, I'm no a fan of the design, curved edges are dated, shiny metal is dated, matte back is nice but slippery as heck and slides on a flat table even with the slightest lean.

I managed to get myself a pixel 8 pro 256gb as new cons on ebay last month for £600!
I am very happy with the phone to be honest, couple of niggles, I wish the charging was fast ie at least 50-60w, I can't get used to the power button being on top of the volume rocker lol, I would like a double take to sleep, you can wake it with the double tap, but can't sleep it? Other than them slight niggles I am very happy with my pixel 8 pro 👍

As an older person pushing 65 I don't use it as much as the younger generations and I actually look out the window when on a bus/train! It's not that I'm not tech savvy or a technophobe, because I've been an IT tech for over 30 years but I prefer the bigger screen on my PC. Battery life is never a problem for me and I can go 3 days without needing to charge it just doing the occasional google search, sending messages and making phone calls etc. I bought the 8 Pro to replace my trusty 4XL and apart from the obviously better camera, there's not a lot of difference between the two. Do I regret it? No it's a great phone and the extended support was probably the main factor in choosing it, along with a very tempting Black Friday offer I couldn't resist ;o

The Update promised are in and the Pixels residual value is still dropping, a phones a phone and AI gimmicks will never change that because they are not main features.

The fact that it does not take the best photographs will be according to your opinion, because if you use the maximum resolution of all the sensors with UltraHDR and the Pro mode, the processing that Google does is the best that exists, and it is not the same as when you take the photos at 12 megapixels, beats any other phone in Ultra Wide Angle, in Main Camera and in Zoom, and also by far, even better than the one-inch sensors, and I know this because I have compared them directly and I have ended up returning all the Chinese phones with those sensors because the Pixel 8 Pro camera is better.
I don't understand why no one talks about Pro mode and UltraHDR, with the quality it offers, it is a forgotten topic that no RUclipsr bothers to compare, and it is a big mistake, because you are wasting a great resource that this device offers, in fact , all my photos are taken in UltraHDR.
And if we talk about video, which I always do with the main camera, and always with Video Boost, there is no other device that comes close in quality, but no one bothers to use this great resource either.
Why do you think Google offers these advances? To not use them? I don't know about you, but I have used them, I use them and I am going to continue using them, what doesn't make sense is not doing it.
I repeat, I have returned a Xiaomi 14 Ultra, an Oppo Find X7 Ultra, a Vivo X100 Pro and a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra because the results that the Pixel 8 Pro gives me are not given to me by any of these others, combined with the system experience operational, without blotware and with Google updates, I am not going to change it for anything, well yes, for the Pixel 9 Pro when it comes out, delivering this one to Google itself, and it will be a great price.
It is my opinion based on experience and my profession, which allows me to have any device and I choose Google.
PS: I can also install any GCam with an apk and the phone recognizes it as its own camera application and I can improve the sections I want, such as the selfie, and that does not happen on any other device, since they are not from Google and the GCam settings will never be the same.

  • @mikldude9376

I have a couple of iPhones, a galaxy and an 8 pro , I have to say it , I think the pixel is by and large over rated , the finger print sensor on my unit is highly hit and miss, Face ID in poor light is less than good and in darkness it is just useless, and it’s that bad between the two unlock modes I have enabled the pin pattern.
The camera in comparison to my other phones probably gets the photos right more often…. But not always , and low light in some circumstances it just sucks , for example I took 4 pics with my 8 pro of under my bike frame work which was poor light , but not darkness , I then took 4 of the identical shots with my iPhone 14 Pro Max .
All four pixel photos where a blurry mess which I couldn’t use and binned, my iPhone took a second longer to take each pic as it sorted out the exposure and gave me 4 excellent clear well exposed photos, so yeah , pixel camera, good sometimes…. Not always.
Battery seems ok , about on par with my heading for a year and a half old iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Performance of the pixel is generally pretty good I’d say.
Another little annoyance for me is the pixel keyboard operation, it sucks , I compare it to my Galaxy note keyboard or iPhone keyboard, and it just pisses me off.
Is it a good phone ? It does have some good points, but clearly there’s some areas that have room for improvement.
Going back to the finger print sensor’s mediocrity, my brother has a pixel 7 , and he reports the same very hit and miss nature of the finger print sensor on his phone, so yeah , maybe on the next model google might spring for the better ultrasound finger print sensor like the galaxy models have.

I recently put down my Pixel 8 Pro in place of a Xiaomi 14 Ultra and I've been amazed at what they've achieved in the camera department, however, the one thing I miss is that Pixel software experience. There's simply nothing like it. Here's to hoping Google pull their finger out in the camera department with this years Pixel devices.
