To my ears, the background vocals are more complex and fuller, but the biggest difference is that Tim’s voice has matured. It’s one of my favorites because it’s so sweet!
Maturity is the biggest difference. It was nice to revisit the original. And it's nice to see HF improve upon themselves -- never stagnant. Thanks for the double feature, Lyle.
This is such a beautiful original song from Tim. He is a wonderful songwriter. This song was originally on Tim's solo album before joining Home Free called "The Best That I Could Do". Nice to see it redone with Home Free. Love Adam's percussion!
I really like that there is harmony on the last verse now. And the background vocals are a bit more complex in areas. The addition of Chance has changed the mix, too.
I love hearing some of the older stuff from Home Free. I have quite the extensive playlist of the majority of their releases since the Sing Off on one specific playlist, and some specialty playlist (Favs, holiday, and upbeat, etc.). Hoping you react to their newest with Don McLean of “Vincent”! It’s beautifully done! Knowing that Austin will be leaving this year, I’m paying more attention and appreciating his presence and vocals even more! Thankfully, we’ll still be getting music from him after leaving Home Free.
Lyle, Thanks for the double header. I enjoyed it and I liked the 2nd video best. Tim's voice was stronger. This song would be difficult to make to many changes. Vincent is my New favorite. Rob is great and of course Don McLean is never changing his voice is still strong.
The previous lyric video sounds very watered down, so to speak, compared to the richness of this, Tim's marurity along with the more complex backing vocals. I'm still a sucker for Tim's stripped down version, performed at a radio station, along with Chris C (providing harmony and guitar). From 12+ years ago, still on YT.
It is clear in the original recording that Tim had to double-record the lead and the bass. Chris would have performed the bass in live shows but it was very much Tim in the recording. Chance is able to provide a clean bass line without doubling. This is one I hope that they continue to re-record as the lineup changes. It showcases a lot of what makes Home Free who they are, and it is an easy one to use to mark their changes and development.
I’d never heard this song before seeing this reaction a few weeks ago. I’ve been listening to both versions daily ever since. I like Tim’s arrangement in the new one better, especially when he goes higher in the last chorus. But I like the earlier one’s background vocals better with more harmonizing of the lyrics and less ooohs, and especially the call-and-response in the last chorus.

I love this so very much. You can hear how they've matured !!! The sound is so much fuller. Chance's bass is so scrumptious in the new version.
They've matured as performers both onstage and their voices. Love these guys. Can't wait to see what the future holds for each of them.

In my opinion, Chance fills in the bass so well. The background vocals are much more complex. Great reaction as usual.

The new one seems much fuller and richer to me. Maybe just better recording, but maybe some doubletracking? Love it.

Thanks Lyle ~ 🍟

Tim does such a great job on this lyric video.❤️❤️❤️❤️
I like this. Tim writes a good song. He sung it well too. Good one Lyle!😄😍
The background vocals are much more intricate in this remake. Outside of that, they did stay true to the original. Beautiful Tim Foust original.

The current recording is my favorite, but I will always appreciate these harmonies! #Love Home Free!
Tim is a good songwriter and I love his voice. The new verse of this song is very good to.❤❤❤❤❤❤
#HomeFree #TimFoust 🤟🤠🤟
I love these boys so much. 💕 Tim is an amazing country music songwriter. Austin too.
With the advent of Skull and Bones, I would add Chance to that list of writers.

I love this group! They have grown and matured a lot! They just get better and better!
❤❤❤
The original seems more tentative. In the new version the voices sound confident with each member having a recognizable sound.
I like the first video better because we get to see them, but I like Chance on bass in the newer one, it sounds so good.
The actual updated video is out now!
My favorite song that Tim has written to date!
