Yes! Was at a show last year with some friends, we were in the pit, and my friends reading glasses fell off in the pit. In a heart beat, a group of people surrounded the glasses to make sure they didn’t break. In the middle of the pit!

Metal mosh pits are different, everybody looks out for each other and some even take a duty of being "pit guard". If somebody goes down you'll always see a wall of people form around them to make sure they get up.
