Yes HOAs are often a headache. Many board members have figured out how to skim money for their personal gain. $$$ Unfortunately, many people can only afford condo living and those maintenance fees are part of the package. 😢😢😢
I would never purchase a property with HOA. I cut cut mown grass. I don't need some idiots telling me how to upkeep or what I can do on my own property that I spent the years o blood and tears working for.

When I had one, we had to have the door painted specific colors, a brass kickplate on the door, sheer curtains at all windows, and we had to get permission of anything outside. And that was an easy one. I have friends that had people go around and check for brown spots in the lawn and take pictures over the back fence for a host of possible infractions.

As I have always said, if you don’t like an HOA, don’t live in one! I live in an HOA condo association, and I love it because it keeps ghetto people out of my neighborhood. My 1M home isn’t worth that to prospective buyers if my immediate neighbors property looks like a 💩🕳️ because they have elected to not maintain their property as per the outlined HOA guidelines. If you don’t like HOA’s then don’t buy in a community that have them. It’s that simple. 👍🏼✅ Perhaps people need to take a 3 hour course or something to understand what they’re getting into before buying in an HOA? If one doesn’t want any deed restrictions then one needs to buy a “fee simple” estate.
Florida has a big HOA problem because a lot of the folks that weasel their way into power are narcissists from the northeast cities-cities which are full of miserable and angry people, who then retire here and bring that behavior to our sunny beautiful State.

The HOA riles are important specifically with those communities with people don't know follow the rules, parking their cars whatever they want, and changing the exterior of the community loolking like a Christmas tree.
I don’t agree about the parking. Because then your neighbors’ guests or their kids’ friends will park on or in front of your property blocking your driveway and access. For non-gated communities, there will be intruders and trespassers parking and play off like they are a guest of one of your neighbors and potentially want to commit crime or the ones that want to fish in the community ponds.

Where I live there are houses bought as investments but no one actually lives in them. The grass and weeds are knee high in some of those places 😂
