    To be honest "destroys" feels a bit unfair: K_A_S_T_O_R played a very good game.

    People are missing many things with this video. Carlsen is 3160 in blitz as opposed to his opponent's 2924. Secondly, before this game, Kastor (his opponent) was leading the match by 5 to 4.5, it was a tough match and not an easy win for Carlsen. A better title would have been "Carlsen edges ahead with the Catalan against a strong GM in blitz"

      If he takes the bishop, it's checkmate in 3. Q forks rook and king, king hides but knight moves into check and queen mates. Only way to stop would be sacrificing queen for knight.

    It is true and ridiculous that 2900 players are so easy for Magnus to beat. Of course a 2900 FIDE rated tournament player does not exist in human form. Such a player would not be easy for Magnus, who is rated in mid 2800s. But he’s about 3300 in blitz online.

    • @stefanmilanovic85

    • @stefanmilanovic85
      @stefanmilanovic85 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@ronbirnbaum1968 His official rating was not, but that is because he didn't play much, he didn't play at tournaments or he played played some of them, and in all he played 700+ games in his professional career at chess. That is the reason he wasn't rated as his real strength was, and that is 2950. I read somewhere that at some tough tournament he crushed everyone and that his playing strength was around that. He was just bad, he didn't win against others, he crushed them. Many of them stopped playing after him, like Larsen.

    • @stefanmilanovic85
      @stefanmilanovic85 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@Lamcuyp572L I am talking about that Fischer would crush Carlsen if he played today. Fischer was by far the most talented player ever. Carlsen is the best player of his generation, no question about it. But he was lucky because he didn't really have a real challenger throughout his career, the one who would question his concept and understanding of chess. Like Capablanca had Alekhine, Botvinnik had Bronstein and Tal, Karpov had Kasparov, you don't have a player of that calibre along with Carlsen, whose concept of chess is pretty shallow and positivistic. No real creativity in his play. Chess used to be much better in the days of open analysis. In 21.century, chess is totally computerized game, even Carlsen himself admitted that he watched AlphaZero play and picked up some new ideas. So what is the point of chess today? Learning moves from computer? There is no more space for creativity in modern chess. It's all either computer moves or theory. I just don't understand who finances chess and for what cause? Why does someone pay top GMs to play chess? For what?

Nc5 ideas to get the pawn back, leaving you with weak dark squares around your king, also the catalan bishop becomes active as its no longer staring at the b7-c6 pawns if you were to play c5 as black
