Prior to living abroad, it was not easily understood what and why foreigners would stand on the bridge and look at the scenery of the Belize river and all the activities therein. Firstly, looking at a body of water is a calming experience, especially a moving body, and now that I am able to draw contrast, having myself lived the greater part of my life abroad, I can truly see and appreciate what they are looking at.
It’s a strange thing to me that I’ve been to Belize 7 times and stayed on Neal Penn rd. and seems as if everything has changed. I’ll be visiting soon and I’m confused and excited to see your content. Your content make me realize it’s like I’m going to Bz for the first time 💯Fat boy canal side gone, and my homeboy Johnny Mas on Yabra gone, JL’s gone, but a new resilient Belize is still there. God bless Bz💯💯
As you mention night club, I had reflected on that prior to your saying so. Coming from Melting Pot early morning, the only thing you might encounter back in the '70s and early '80s is a balking dog jumping up at the fence as you are passing by. It is indeed disappointing not being able to walk the streets with no fear of being rob whether in the daytime or nighttime, or from even carjack, if someone chooses to trail you without your knowing so.
DARN!! Fisheries must have bought out Papi's, the man with that thick diabetes syrup, but back then no one was thinking about that, especially as a kid. Coming from market via North Front Street Papi's syrup was a treat!!
Your videos are very encouraging to Belizeans that don't have any interest in visiting Belize to want to do so. There seems so much advancement in Belize. However, I am under no delusion, the gap between the haves and the have-nots are very wide. The average or meddle-class Belizean can't walk into that Toyota Dealership and purchase a new Toyota, add to that the cost of fuel. Love the quality concrete streets. The grass is always overgrown, but there is not much that could be done about that, because of the tropical climate, unless each homeowner takes the responsibility to clean Infront of his or her home.
Who use to live dah dis house? The flags are a kind of a giveaway. The police both is no longer there. George Price was an interesting man. He used to walk the streets of Belize and say hello to all the older established Belizeans by their surname: Hello Ms. So-and-So, Hello Mr. So-and-So. In Belmopan he walked the pathway from his office to his little, tiny non-descript house and if there were any papers on his path as he walked home, he would pick it up and put it in his pocket. Yet he was a brilliant and eloquent man at home and on the international scene, eloquence yet to be seen and experienced from his successors. Watch how he surprised Reagan with a quote from George Washington. Also look at his level of comportment: ruclips.net/video/NvU0y7LkJQg/видео.htmlsi=Zt-etdlDorIVWUGo Full disclosure: I had no party affiliation and was one of the young people (teenager) anticipating advancement in Belize.
Remember in the early 80s getting ready for a tenth September day out at the parades. George Price was speaking on the radio. I stopped getting ready just to listen. I thought at that moment damn he speaks better than the American president. Not all his speeches were that inspiring. But that morning he was pitch perfect and hitting the right chords. You got to understand I came from a family that was staunchly against George Price and the PUP.
In your title, it should be Freetown Road, Creole Bwai, not Freetown Street. To earn the name Creole Bwai, you should not have made that error, because of the song: "Freetown [Road] Gyal no got no water fi wash e self... In any event, I heard you made the correction in your audio. That was my hood, New Road, Pitts Alley, BTC, etc., but that place is now foreign to me: NO BEC. There is a Toyota dealership and all. Belize now reminds me of the sights and experiences we use to have when we traveled to Chetumal in the '70s up to the mid '80s. GREAT JOB! KEEP GOING! YOU ARE UPDATING ME ON THE "OLD COUNTRY IN REAL TIME!" You are so right about that Belize heat. Did not like it!

Thanks so much for those kind words.
I didn't see the alleyway that takes you from North Front Street to New Road by Haydie Gomez and Bunny Barber Shop, aka Mr. B Barber Shop.
You forgot to point out the location of the historic "Riverside Hall" as you arrived at Victoria's Steet and approached Fisheries.
Do they still sell Christmas trees at Holy Redeemer playground?
I don't think so.
Mr price
That's right!
Hon.George Cadle Price house.
That would be Pickstock Street Between North Front Street and New Road
Absolutely! thanks for you comment.
