Now imagine you absolutely *_hate_* this aspect of yourself and try not to. But you know if you *don't* do it, the compulsion will turn into turning around 30 times and quack like a duck and bark like a dog, so you do the 10 and quack, but nothing extraordinary happens - no satisfaction, so you feel half let down, but half grateful you didn't have to do it 30 times... Plus you feel that now that you've done it, you can move on, and that perhaps next time it won't be so bad, or that you'll get some satisfaction the *_next_* time. Only, you never truly get that satisfaction and so the cycle continues.
