  • This is an introduction of international teaching for those interested in living and teaching abroad. If you want to see the world, experience new cultures, and teach multilingual students, then this profession might be right for you.
    I will do my best to cover topics such as how to apply, how to get hired, what to look for in an int'l school, and how to move in future videos. If you have any feedback for how I can improve these videos (aside from terrible video quality), please let me know. :)

    Super! I am already in Germany but switching careers after nearly 50 years working with ships - just qualified with TEFL but looking at the local International School. This was super interesting!

      Great video I’m getting a history education major. Might change to English. But I am a duel citizen of Luxembourg and the us. So I’m hoping with my citizenship I can find a job at an international school in europe

    Hi, super curious: how do you maintain an active teacher certification in the USA while you are overseas? Can you maintain a job at an international school if your certification goes inactive?

    • @ahmedh9170

      I am answering your question in the hope that someone who comes across this video has the same question, lol. There are states for teacher license reciprocity.
      There are a couple of ways to maintain an active license in the States. You can transfer your license to states with less stringent recertification processes, like WA, IL, NJ, TX, and MA. These states may require professional development (PD) and a fee for recertification. The year of certification varies between these states. Some may only require a fee and no PD courses, and some may require a combination (research what best fits your needs). IL and NJ are the best states to transfer your teaching license when you are abroad because their recertification can last for a lifetime or 5+ years, and they are unlikely to require PD courses as long as you are teaching abroad or in another state.

    Why do these schools call themselves "international schools" when you said that mostly the teachers are from UK, US, NZ, Australia?

    • @guiyong
      @guiyong 2 года назад +1

      Teachers are mostly coming from these areas because the language used in class is English and the closest education system to the one used in these schools is the American/British one (which also means that the teaching certificate required to teach there is related to these countries education system as well). Also, some international schools do not accept local students but only accept foreign/international passport holders.

    Nonsense - "Problem with schools hiring non-whites," meaning not enough others. White, green, yellow, orange, brown has nothing to do with it. Merit does.
