    What an outstanding example of a 98 year old man, inspiring the re-birth of this flying legend.

    My old airline (Ansett) did all overhauls in house. airframe, engines & propellers. From memory we did Hamilton Standard, Rotol & Aero Products props. I spent 3 months in the prop shop as a 2nd year apprentice.

    Don't get excited. They shelved it in 2018 due to its massive cost. It was put in storage in 2019. Such a shame. The PR would have been fabulous. It's looking doubtful that it will ever fly again but I'm curious how far to completion they got.

    Starliner is the most beautiful of the série L-049, L-649, L-749, L-1049 and L-1649... I love this plane sure.
    I am a owner of Connie but it's small as you can see on my RUclips channel. Very interesting to see how doing the four new spinners.. So it's a dream for me to work at workshop for the propellers. So beautifuls propellers.

    I can only imagine certain 'modern' improvements in the engine, such as ducts with better quality material, locking nuts in braces, and better plugs can improve the reliability of those engines tremendously.

    1959 I flew PNA from Seattle Tacoma to Anchorage Alaska on a Lockheed constellation big wide seats with linen head Placements! If I had a choice today I would prefer the Lockheed constellation over any Boeing or Airbus! Suit and tie and dresses requirement for boarding!

    And sadly they killed the effort to fly this bird when she was 95% complete and only 11 months from flying. She was better than new.

      Wow 95% and only 11 months..
      Could you share more details please about the latest workprogress..
      I feel more than iretated since I heard how they stoped, throwig Conie-parts in the garbage, putting the fuselage in a slty, moist portshed ... which is more than a shame. Today,s managemnt is disgusting..👎👎👎

      The aircraft was dismantled without the documentation required to resume the restoration. Apparently this was ordered by the Lufthansa management when they pulled the funding. At that point the air frame had a Lockheed-donated C-130 glass cockpit and was almost ready to go.

  • @googlename8066
    @googlename8066 4 года назад +6

    And as I understand Lufthansa pulled the plug on the restoration then proceeded to make it so nobody else could continue the work. 100 million from sponsors was spent plus all the hours by the technicians up to this point.
    For nothing.

      They also tossed all the spare parts that were stripped off another Connie. Basically making two planes non fly able.
