My friend Anthony was kind enough to let me take his car out to take a test drive and make a care review. A huge thanks to him for driving to me and letting burn up some of his gas. I get a kick out of all the "V8 or it's junk" posts. My wife's 3.7 convertible is VERY respectable on the street. Above 3000 rpm that thing is fun!!! Is it a drag strip superstar? NO. But for a 30 mpg commuter, it's awesome. And for the record, I am a V8 guy. My last toy only ran 11s :)

Didn’t mustangs start out as a 4 cylinders? I drive an 03 v6 and i enjoy it every single day. So who cares what other people say or think at the end of the day it was your choice your money so just enjoy it!

My main thing is that like the title suggests people don't know what they're buying. It is heavier and has less torq so less power band than a 3v. I get people wanting to race my 3V a lot and it's a full build. Like no dude, not in traffic, that's not happening.

The only downside I have of my mustang is it doesn't have the fog lights like this one. I like that.
It doesn't take much mods for a 3.7 to be faster then a 4.6

I just bought me a 2012 mustang with a 3.7 liter V6 in it. I love my car. It's got a lot more horsepower than than the older mustangs with the V6's in them. I got to say, I'm very impressed by how much more power it has. I also love the look of the car. It's a all around good looking car with enough horsepower for me. This white mustang looks AWESOME!!!

Bro, you're so correct man. I amazed by how much more horsepower the 11's on up with 3.7 V6's have compared to the older models my brother. They get up pretty darn fast for a V6 bro. I love my Mustang. When I bought it, I wasn't looking for power. I was just buying my wife a car. But I did some research after I bought it and I seen the upgrades they had compared to the 2010's on down. Yes Sir. I'm amazed my brother.

I wish I would've just bought a 2015 cause I like the style of those. Especially the headlights. But that's ok. I'll settle for the 2012. Well I say my car, but my wife drives it more than me. Lol. What is crazy is there are a lot of modern cars (no hate on any car) that cost much more and come with less than or equal power (like the lower-end new Supra at 255hp for like $42k). Now a days v6 is becoming the new v8 in modern cars. I have a 2012 v6 and the last mod I plan in doing is a full upgraded suspension kit because I love the idea of my car handling like crazy. Most people do not car about this but I think it is pretty cool.
@@planetdee3587 agreed, I had the privilege to drive a 2012 dark blue mustang V6 and I tell you what the interior looks amazing and the power is there. Going from a Toyota to a Mustang like that was a significant power difference I loved it. They only wanted 7900 for it and it was in mint condition

I seen the 1320video sticker on the car so I looked it up. I eventually purchased this car from Anthony!!
My 2012 Convertible V6 has the Premium Package. I don't think that does anything for the engine, but I think it does have bigger tires. From time to time I will nail it from a dead stop. I turn the traction control off and drive it like a manual. You can drop it down to 1st and manually change the gears, even with the Automatic. It's fast. Very fast.
Looks like you did a lot of work on that. Great car! I have MPT tunes but the SCT tune seemed better. Mine's a 2014 with a similar CAI. Nice vid! :)
great review! but at the end of the day I would rather have v8, I have seen some nice v6's like this one but they just miss that torque that a v8 has
Thanks dude! Obviously V8's have their benefits over the smaller V6 but in some instances people have to get what they can and aren't always able to buy the bigger motor. I only say all of that because I used to own a V6 when I couldn't afford a V8 but now that I can I know how great they are! :)

Coming from a guy with an 06 3v, what isn't a 3v killer LOL. These 4.6s sound G R E A T, definitely one of the best sounding modern v8 mustang engines, but power? Definitely lacking, and takes a lot to get it up in NA, luckily like every other ford mustang v8 it responds well to boost, but even then it can't hold a lot until rods start going or drive-train starts hating you.

As someone who is considering a 3.7 I wanna know from someone who has experienced multiple mustangs, does it satisfy performance wise. I had a 02 GT i loved and im curious if stock, does it feel just as fast, or would it require mods to even be at that level??
mike curtis I drive a 2014 V6 manual sometimes, its a family members car, and it feels powerful. It packs a good punch but is also comfortable to drive around town in. Id recommend it.
mike curtis I would honestly say this V6 will feel equally as fast as your older GT. It may be missing some torque but thats an easy fix with new gears. Plus the aftermarket has taken to this motor extremely well so there are plenty of performance parts out there for it.

+mike curtis The 3.7 can run rings around the 2V GTs pretty easily from a dig. From a pull they might feel nearly even stock but for $500 you can have 3.73s put in and it will really run rings around an '02 GT. These things are most comparable to the '05-'10 3V GT in performance.

It wasn't bad at all. My mustang has coilovers and the SR springs weren't near as rough.

moostang09 Definitely! I went from 14.0 sec quarter mile to a 13.3 quarter miles with 3.73 gears alone. Thats near stock 5.0 times. Nice review nonetheless!

That is a huge improvement! You are right that is close to stock 5.0 times. I have a buddy with a completely stock auto that runs 12.9-13.0 consistently. I imagine if he had tires he would cut a better 60 which would lower his et but we will see.
Anthony here, the car is getting 4.10s and a little bit of the juice very soon. Paired with a set of DarkStars this is going to give some 5.0s a run for their money!

I have 2011 which has 10 more stock hp then 12 and newer they tuned factory down but deff recommend tunning I have bama 93 race tune on my 97 and damn was it worth it I'm planning on getting same tune on the 11 I've beat plenty gts with 11 stock

I have a 2012 Ford Mustang MCA edition V6 with only 37k miles on it and the battery keeps going dead after a few days. Ford dealer installed a new battery and it still goes dead...This is happening to a lot of Ford cars and not just mustangs and Ford will not correct this problem...It was my dream car that turned into a piece of shit car! I have been a chevy man all my life....what a mistake buying a Ford.. (Found On Rez Dump!) Selling this piece of shit car and going back to a chev....WARNING stay away from Fords or you will find yourself stranded with a dead battery if it sits for a few days.

kingssuck06 I actually beat a lightly modded 3V in my bone stock 3.7 at the strip a few nights ago. Granted his ET was actually .05 seconds faster, but I got him on RT. I'm not saying the V6 is faster, it's not, but it sure as hell isn't slow in comparison to the 3V. If the V6 driver is better or if his car is modified a bit, it absolutely can beat 3Vs. It's worth noting that everyone who has a 3.7 could have bought a 3V but chose not to.

I never said a 3.7 was faster lol, I just said it was close enough that the 3.7 CAN beat a 3V. I've lost to a couple of 3Vs too, and I have no problem with that. They are close enough that it can come down to the drivers, though all other things equal, the 3V will win. I understand that many of you 3V guys could have bought a 3.7 but chose not to as well. I wasn't trying to imply that 3.7 owners have more money than you, just that people have different tastes. I hate the 05-09 interior, I do a lot of highway driving so getting 30 mpg was a big plus, and I prefer the 10-15 styling. But don't act like buying a V6 is just what you do when you can't afford a V8, because that's not true anymore. As soon as I sell my WRX, I'll be switching to an aluminum drive shaft and slapping on a procharger kit and full exhaust. Why wouldn't I just buy the 5.0? I like having something different and unique, and a force fed 3.7 fits the bill. There's no need to be disrespectful.
kingssuck06 I had two appts at two dealerships in one night... i had to pick, 2008 GT with bolt ons , 45000 miles for 14,000 or 2012 Mustang 3.7 stovk with 37,000 for 16,000. I drove straight to the dealer with the 3.7 and bought it. Have fun when water leaks onto your junction block through the cowl and screws up your electrical system. Also have fun paying more for gas, more for repairs, and have more fun being slower and getting less compliments than me. :)
