Angelina often has the moon and the stars in her songs so, to me, it is brilliant the way Rob Christie, the pianist, plays the song melody mainly in a two-note pattern that invokes the twinkling of stars and also helps to drive the song forward. I don't know if that is Angelina's doing, but I think it enhances the ethereal mood of the song. Great analysis, as always!

This was when she was 14 & her breath control was already amazing. The final belt in this, ended with 3 screams to her grandpa on the moon. Two years later at her concerts in Norway, she sang it again & she not only slowed it down, but this time the final belt ended with 9 primal screams to her grandpa. Then 2 years later at her recent Las Vegas concerts she did it with 10 screams, which is literally breathtaking (pun intended). My point is, her amazing breath control that you point out in this video, has even gotten better than amazing. Thanks Carl for another brilliant analysis of this beautiful song by AJ.

Carl, I greatly enjoyed your beautiful description of this sad yet hopeful song. Angelina's maternal grandfather passed in 2019 when she was 13 and she wrote "Million Miles" in the days after he passed. "Million Miles" was the first song released after Angelina signed with Republic Records in August 2020. It was the first song I ever cried to and I wept at first listen. Angelina's heartfelt song allowed me to finish the grieving process for 5 loved ones lost between 2017 and early 2020. "Million Miles" provided me with HOPE and a renewed energy to make the most of my life and make my lost loved ones proud.

Perhaps you’d like to know that during his last times with Angelina her grandpa told her to never have regrets and that he’d be on the moon looking down on all she does…They were very close ..he used to take her with him when he worked with the homeless in Oslo. Beautiful reaction 🙏

That last held run (10:50), she did a concert in Kurbadhagen in 2022 where she belted and held that longer (the band paused half way through it for effect), the bass player and drummer just looked at each other and shook their heads in appreciation.

Reacting to this version would be welcome due to its over-the-top emotion (it is almost Ike a reimagined version of her own song).
