The trailer showed the whole movie. Thank you.
The Odyssey 2024.
Just another remake, including the now compulsory required quota of ethnic representation.
Nope, No Thanks.
Forget About "Modern Marvel" Forget About "Modern Star Wars" This is the type of movie I want to see.
Ah yes, the black Greeks, they were very common in 1200 BC.
@@toshiromoto12
Greeks have been present in Egypt since at least the 7th century BC and they were white.
There were no black Greeks, especially not in 1200BC.
The Armand Assante version was one of my favorite movies growing up. It's the quintessential Odysseys film to me. Hopefully this is just as good.
There were no black greeks 😪
Sometimes I wonder if africa had any cool stories at all. There's just old remakes with black dude's, kinda stupid
Odysseus's meeting with his beloved dog Argus will be heartwrenching.
African Greeks, modern audience.
Cleopatra was Greek.
@@IanH7489 yes she was, what she wasn't was black!
@@Michael-og8dt Thats not the point. The Greeks and Egyptians clearly had connections, so its not hard to believe they had black people in Greece.
@@Michael-og8dt All i was saying is she was Greek, so they obviously had connections.
@@Michael-og8dt They deleted it again even though i wrote the same thing on a different thread. Suck my balls youtube you dirt slimy bell ends. If you want me to be offensive you got it
I can't even remember the last time I saw a trailer that made me want to watch the movie. Good Job,
We wuz Greeks
Doth mine weary eyes deceive me? An accurate movie of the Odyssey at last? Weak words cannot express the happiness I feel at this moment!
Black Greeks??? 😅😂
O M EFFING G. Did not know about this.....cannot wait for this
Why do they always have to change the race of characters? I ost my interest at 0:32.
You know there are non-Greek characters in the Trojan Cycle, I mean characters non-Greek origin are often present. One of those included here is Philetius, who was a slave loyal to Oddyseus, so idk if its too much of a stretch
@@GuineaPigEveryday "You know there are non-Greek characters in the Trojan Cycle" . . . Yes, but I do not subscribe to racial identity politics, so I hate it when movies and TV shows make a big deal out of it and stretch it to advance their agenda. It ruins the aesthetics and the veracity of the art.
@@GuineaPigEverydayy por qué un esclavo tiene que ser negro? Eso es racista
definite watch
I grew up reading about Ulysses and his Odyssey. in High School I learned he was also Odysseus and of the Iliad.
I've been fascinated with Ancient Greece and the Spartans in particular.
There was a TV-mini series 10 years back with the same premise. It was crap. Sorry, but the trailer gave away enough to say it has quite the liberal take on the myth.
Great to see this classic updated and fleshed out with a real top-notch cast.
In 1:14 i saw modern ideology... sad :(
🙄
Cultural appropriation of European history...
No actually that's just a regular word in the English language
No one have a Mediterranean appearance.
OK Ralph I see you! This looks fantastic.
Didn't know they spoke british english in the ancient times
And if they spoke the language they did back then the best they could you'd be bitching about having to read subtitles..... 😑
@@Clearwood_ Shogun had subtitles and it was great
Yeah, and can you believe that upstart crow Shakespeare had ancient Romans also speaking english?
Really...? The same actor played a German officer in "Schindler' s list".What more would you want...? Kurt Yurgens should had played Amos Goth...? Or Maximillian Schell...? Well, they ran out of German actors. That' s a stupid argument you say there(Mind that James Coburn also played a German with full American accent and James Mason with British in "Cross of Iron".So many examples with actors that had played a different nationality.Just enjoy the movie...when it comes out).Jesus...
@@spyz1448 Callate lol
Always loved this story as a kid. Can't wait to see this
Didn't know that there were black Greeks, once again a possibly good movie is ruin by DEI & "Wokeness". So this is a pass.
Thanks for letting us know who the racist in the room is. For your future information before sticking your foot in your mouth again:
"Yes, people of African descent were present in ancient Greece, and their presence is documented in a variety of ways:
"Art"
"Africans are depicted in many surviving works of art, including coins, vases, masks, and jewelry. For example, some vase paintings depict Homeric Circe and some of Theseus' followers as African. "
"Trade"
"The Minoans, a Bronze Age civilization in Crete, established trade routes with Egypt."
"Language."
"The ancient Greeks called all Black Africans "Ethiopians," a term that comes from two Greek words meaning "burn" and "face"."
"Social status"
"People of color were given places of honor and appeared on ancient Greek coins."
"The presence of Africans in ancient Greece suggests that the society was more diverse than is often thought."
Do you have a problem with Charlton Heston playing Moses or Kevin Surbo playing Hercules too? How about Gerard Butler playing King Leonidus?
@@josephharmon4284 I replied to this earlier, but it is no longer showing. Must have been deleted by the commenter.
There were many black ancient Greeks. They are in paintings, works of art, plays, and even on coins.
@@marcd1981Indeed there were. Thank you for mentioning that. In this particular instance I was just curious to know if @chestersleezer8821 shared his sentiment across all fictional works, or only when the actors of fictional works aren't uniform.
@@josephharmon4284 No since they played individuals who were white or do you think they were black? So here is something how about we remake Zulu but make all the Zulu's White or Hispanic or do a movie about Malcolm X but cast a White Female to play him, would you be okay with either of these?
YES! This looks worth watching.
This is my favorite story in any story made by humans. I really hope they bring his legacy to glory with this film, but the main actor is a phenomenal man for the role.
I still remember the Wishbone episode about the odyssey, always loved the story since.
