There’s a loop of the salamanders chanting vulkan lives over and over again . If you listen to it long enough it sounds like they’re saying “f-ing Nids!” Also Magnus is described as having a bronze or ruddy Copper skin tone pre-demon hood
He was always "Magnus the Red" even pre-Heresy, and his artwork even without the demon lord wings and horns showed bright tomato-red skin and hair, so I'm pretty sure the Imperials would not have seen the need to give him "the Red" byname if he had merely had "ruddy" normal human skin colour, the same way Guilleman isn't "G the Blond".
Emps being confused about the Salamanders skin color could be a reference to the discrepancy between older and newer official artwork of the Salamanders. I don't think Games Workshop settled on one for certain, so some think the Salamanders have natural black skin, or that coal skin.
When they first appeared during the Armageddon campaign they had one squad and a captain painted. The sergeant was Caucasian and the captain was a brown but blonde aka reasonably normal coloration. Some years later they introduced the lore that they have jet black skin but the paintjob remained kinda normal skin tones, if darker. Games Workshop likes to change things a lot.
Space marines at the end are The First, they are the Dark Angels chapter. Chapter Grand Master Azrael, Grand Master Belial of Deathwing (1st Company) and Master Interrogator-Chaplain Asmodai. (There’s also Grand Master of the Ravenwing (2nd company) Sammael who’s not here, and these two wings are what remains of the Hexagrammaton that they had when they were Legion before the Codex) They are an incredibly shadowed chapter, full of secret orders and societies, having great distrust of the organs of the imperium. Only the alpha legion is more secretive. Loyal, but barely codex compliant, for the better. Favourite chapter.
Its funny, because when the Marines Malevolent Captain said that, he turned around and Tu'Shan had been standing RIGHT fucking THERE!! Sod the Ultramarines, Dark Angels are the best. Lol!
With those pictures of the ladies from the Congo, something that has always stood out to me is that once the skin hits a certain level of darkness it seems to look more like it’s... sculpted? Maybe that’s just a picture thing with the lighting, but I vaguely remember it being like that with the one or two fellows I met from that region... although their skin wasn’t as smooth as the ladies.
OK, I know this is already older than a year, but I'll have to correct you on one tiny thing - The Salamandars are definetely top tier bros, but they are not the only good guys in the galaxy. Because even in these grimdark times, a tiny fleet of yellow bois in power armor is crusading troughout the galaxy, to protect those that cannot fight for themselves. I would highly recommend doing some reading into that chapter, by the Manporer of Mankind, they deserve some kindness and attention. btw Alfabusa did a short one on them, the video is "The Fate of the Lamenters", don't know if you have already seen at it this point in time, since I'm still catching up to your TTS reactions. btw I Love your reactions, your editing is great and I love your small anecdotes! Hey man, a persons a person and not defined by their skin color so don’t worry about it. It’s your character that matters and your a pretty kick ass guy.
"Tu'Shan coming to blows with the First Captain of the Marines Malevolent" is a strange way of saying that Tu'Shan beat the everliving crap out of that Captain.
The Dark Angels, aka the 1st Legion, is one of the biggest parent chapters among the Adeptus Astartes. While they are technically a Chapter nowadays as per the Codex Astartes, they may have the biggest and mightiest force ever as every successor Chapter under their banner still maintains stong connections. They are practically a Space Marine Legion in all but name, with a lot of troops and weaponry to their name. Their biggest flaw lies in how desperate it's Inner Circle is to maintain their pedigree as one of the loyalists and they had their share of dissidents shortly after the Horus Heresy where Luther rebelled against the Dark Angels. These traitors are scattered all throughout time and space since their homeworld was destroyed and they were branded as the Fallen. Their goal is to capture every Fallen, torture them for repentance before they put them out of their misery.
I love the Salamanders. A) because they actually give a crap about civilians (human and Xenos), and B) they look like monsters (burnt black skin, glowing red eyes, use fire and have dragon motifs) but constantly prove they are humans in the end. Great stories by Nick Kyme if you are interested.
17:05 I think that they are talking changes in the cannon. Remember how he pointed out the original salamander armor pattern? I think that everything that kitten points out and the emperor on’t remember are things that have changed the cannonical version ever since w40k was released
“The yes, I mean no” answer by the emperor is because in his infinite wisdom he knows that the company that creates his universe depends on selling mini figures reliant on aesthetic it means that chapters that sell get new stuff. And they are reliant in our ancient primitive idea of cool to survive so yeah it kinda matters and doesn’t what a chapter looks like
Nice jaw drop there when Dorn showed himself. And i am still surprised that everyone assumes that he is dead just because they found his severed hand on a ship. Lets be fair, a human who looses a hand will have a bad time. But will survive if the bleeding is stopped in time. A space marine who looses a hand will simply be annoyed since one handed reloading is a bother. Aside from that the marine will be fine. And still everyone assumes that a frigging Primarch someone who makes a space marine look as frail as a regular human DIES from loosing a hand.... Even before the TTS started up i suspected that Dorn simply hid somewhere. Since that do follow the pattern with the loyalist Primarchs simply going somewhere to sulk while staying under the Imperiums radar. Also the dam Dark Angles do need to realize that EVERY legion had ther share of loyalists and traitors during the heresy. Making ther case not at all special. Well aside from that they had hid that fact about ther own traitors from the Imperium for over ten thousand years like a bunch of morons. Morons who kill anyone, including ther own if the learn about that SHAME before they are allowed to learn about it. RIP the two poor marines.
It must be nice to watch this for the first time with minimal understanding of all the Space Mariners. Dark Angels are one of my top 5 favorite Loyalist SM chapters.

I'm having flashbacks to Peter Pan. "What makes the red man reeeeed."
If this isn't a joke, wasn't his aim to be Egyptian-styled?
@@Halo1138 That's the theming of his legion and the world he ended up on, yes, but he wouldn't be the only primarch to not quite match the look of the culture he ended up representing. I mean, how many blond, blue-eyed giants would you expect to see in Ancient Rome?
@@brigidtheirish Depends. Early or Late Republic?
Joke aside, yeah, the Primarchs had a tendency to be a little fucked up when it comes to some of the details. Konrad Curze most definitely comes to mind.
EDIT: Actually now that I think about it, Konrad's case is strange. He's depicted as being incredibly pale, almost pure alabaster, but so were the people of his adopted homeworld? I'm not sure in his case how that happened honestly.
@@brigidtheirish Two apparently. if you include sanguinius.
Salamanders! Hells yeah!!!!
