I don't think blowing it up would be the best route. I think tweaking it is necessary. You blow it up and you're starting from scratch again and then, we all know what happens next, those traded players go to another team and excel there to shove it up the rear of the Leafs and the fans. I knew the moment they didn't secure a better goaltender at the deadline that they weren't going to be able to go far in the playoffs.

I think fans are more pissed off than surprised because the Leaf's just don't adapt or change, and as fans we want change now not later, and just want to see this team win.
Four finesse players, average defence and average goaltending has never been the template to playoff success. History proves it.
Nothing in their contracts says they have to perform! No incentives! Coaches have to perform.

Saying that Tavares was nowhere in the playoffs is delusional. Criticize him all you want about the captaincy and leadership, that's fair, but he plays hard every single game. He's more of a lead by example guy, something that's lost on the others. He played harder than any of the other 3 core in these 5 playoff games as far as I'm concerned. The only blame I'd give him is that he doesn't lead his team - I see no communication from that guy.

This team would have an ECF appearance at the very least if they had never signed Tavares. Any respectable captain would hold himself and guys like Marner accountable for no showing. It's also worth noting that Draisatl and McDavid are dead even at #1 among active players in playoff PPG at 1.62, they have played about 50 or so playoff games, they bring it even more than MacKinnon who's filthy in his own right.

Its so not likely but this isnt the first time Boston has lost after winning 3 and being up in the series. This is toronto so we all know the leafs will lose ultimately but that doesnt mean its over yet.Boston is very capable of losing this lead in the series. They have done it before

Well…….in my opinion…….the players deserve criticism for sure…….but I see it in a different light! This team is very poorly structured! Mariner should be a centreman……..he’s not a gritty winger…….but he’s great with the puck and smart…….for the life of me, I don’t know why they ever got Tavares…….they already had two top tier centreman on the team! Nylander is another one……great talent,great skater and smart…….but he’s not a winger! I blame management for this mess! Most GM’s will figure out a structure that they want to implement…….then go and get players to fill these particular roles! Leafs just took the best players and threw them onto a team that had no structure…….this mess is what you get! Matthew’s,Marner and Nylander are great players but unfortunately the team they play for has been built backwards! A team should be built from the goal on out……..the leafs are the opposite! Such a waste of talent!

mitch marner is a fantastic hockey player, and has a tough enough / stable enough mind to do everything a star can do in the nhl.
He is also a very young man, what 26 or idk. very young. He needs the normal things from his superiors that any young man needs. and he's not getting it with this true joke of a management team. ALL the problems he's having are those of management, in the same way that parents are. H'es a big boy, etc etc, i know all that. On another team, with a better mentorship, he's an unstoppable star in this league. That he's not is all the proof in the pudding you need. He is fine. I repeat, he will shine in this league, unless he stays under this management team.

Whatever toxic sludge is going on in that locker room, I feel bad for Bert and Domi getting dropped in the middle of a boy-band fight.. I think its so toxic there, that is why we seen Bert not being so much Bert most of this time here. Plus he is kind of a black sheep with the silver spoon group and mentality of the leafs.. I think the cancer in that room is part to blame for Sammy and most everyone playing like dump.. its like showing up for work at a place you dont want to be, just sucks the life and will out of you and when your "core" acts like they don't care, why should anyone else.. It's miserable to feel like you are fighting a losing battle every effing night.. I honestly think Marner is not the only toxic entity in that room as well...

The Leafs have been a clown show for the past 20 years. It is laughable to blame it on one or two people.
Blowing over $40M on the core four is a complete joke, as they are absolutely useless in the playoffs. All of them are afraid of the hard areas.
Ignoring goaltending in the offseason was a king blunder which bit the Leafs in the ass yet again. Samsonov is a backup goalie at best.

Leafs fan are delusional, they won a round last year for the first time in many years, nobody who knows hockey expect them to repeat that. They are not build for the playoffs. Canes, Rangers, Panthers would easily eliminate them.
So Nylander magically gets injured for 3 games, Matthews cuts out after 2 periods, nit the guy who scored the highlight reel goal is the problem. Got it
Especially Nylander who has been a no show since he signed his contract. He’s the one who should have been traded last summer. Playoff Willy is such a fraud. For every goal he scored last playoffs, his defensive play caused 2 goals against. If they go with Mathews and Nylander as their big 2 and somehow get rid of Marner then they’ll be a lottery team in 2 years.
Marner has had rhe same problems every playoffs. Attitude, Afraid to be hit, Giveaways, Stupid plays and temper tantrums. He gave the puck away befire scoring thar goal too just so happened to have ot come back to him. So yes, he is a problem and has been a problem

i'm a fan. i'm not the media. when it comes to players reacting to media, i'm on the players side. leafs media sucks. steve simmons is just one example. the media are basically what makes players not want to play here.
