  • Riding my DIY 29kW 80v frame-up build Surron in the dirt, what she was made for. Bike is really in its element off-road.
After 500km, the most notable things:
Did 3 power settings, 12/19/29kW, and in lower-traction settings like this still-damp trail, 19kW is the max it feels safe to use
Battlecross tires provide incredible off-road grip
MT7 brakes seem more than adequate so far, no issues
Range is about 80km on a full charge (on road, 50-60 km/h)
At bottom 20% of battery, I do see a bit of voltage drop under load
On-road, the primary chain drive does have some whiny resonant frequencies which can get tiring after a long ride
If I did mainly/all street riding, would definitely have a belt primary, and of course street tires

range test on your custom battery please. I was thinking about making the one from your tutorial and ordering the parts of your website. amazing content wish i had this knowledge before spending the $4000 retail for a surron when they just came out to market.

Thanks so much! I will update in my description on main build video - after several rides, I'm getting about 80km on a full charge. Mixed on and off-road, on road averaging maybe 55 kph. I was actually expecting a little more range, but it does have full MX tires on it. If you used P45B cells, that would increase capacity/range by 10%.

What top speed are you getting?

Beautiful, are you still using that 3D printed battery case ? I was wondering how is it holding up on the jumps etc. Thanks

Thanks, yes it's holding up so far!
A very strong wind knocked bike off the stand yesterday, landed on its side. Checked, everything looks to be OK. Admittedly though, at 57, I'm not doing 70ft triples on it! 😂

@@CoolWatts Thats nice. I am planning to not do big jumps as well. I will definitely try printed case as well and save big money on premade metal one. I mean CHI battery is using just rubber and looks there is not that many issues.

    What's your range?

    • @CoolWatts

I'm getting 80km with 60/40 road/dirt. But that's with huge MX tires. I'm sure it'd be more with supermotos.

Where did you get an 80v battery and which controller do you use?

    • @CoolWatts

      Hi. Controller - X9000 V2. Battery I built myself:

its a 20s 72v nominal just sounds cooler to say 80v

    • @CoolWatts
      @CoolWatts  5 месяцев назад

@@EBIKEScott actually it's 22S 80v nominal, 92.4v fully charged (see my battery build), but thanks for the feedback 👍

@@CoolWatts oh nice! My bad when i saw the 76v from the video the cells were very low then roughly 3.45per cell. Nice build man!

@@EBIKEScott no prob - this was at the end of a long day of riding, was having so much fun, decided to make a quick video. Need to do next time fully-charged and set at the full 29kW!
