Donkey Kong Country Theme Restored to HD
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 3 авг 2018
- What you're hearing are the original samples used to create
the Opening Title Theme from Donkey Kong Country, combined with the music instruction data from the game, plus mixing and mastering magic for a perfect recreation of what a studio recording would have sounded like.
All remasters currently progressed:

Song composed by David Wise, restored by Jammin' Sam Miller
8 year old me would never imagine I'd be 30 listening to these DKC soundtracks to relax everyday
holy fuck get out of my head D:
Nah buddy
that's what they call a BANANA SLAMMA
Your lucky to have got to play this so early.I was 12,because I started with the N64 instead.

Every time I listen to this song I feel like I’m going to cry
that happens when your life as a child was so good that it does not compare with the life you have as an adult I feel the same.
Me too, lol even if I played it as a rom 😂 but I did play the actual gba versions tho
Something about this game and the days we lived while playing it were magical
That’s called nostalgia my friend
0:49 at this part is where I start to cry
Imagine how they must have been feeling it in the studio
They must have been like " Okay guys let’s create an absolute banger that people will remember for years but let’s not go too crazy.” Then everyone else was like “ Bet say no more.” That’s how we got this.
they're dancing like "oh my god this shit slaps af"
@@AggressivelyLoving my drunk ass busting down like donkey kong
There’s a “Making of…” video that was originally released on VHS to Nintendo Power subscribers at the time, and there’s a part where they talk about going all out on the music to go with the graphics
Bass boosted that shit for everyone to hear this masterpiece
Imagine making a fucking amazing ass beat with monkey sounds holy shit

Beat drops harder than most of the modern EDM songs

Facts 🤣
Quite literally. It drops as hard as Donkey Kong drops that boombox on Cranky's record player... then drops himself on Cranky's head!
Nice!
Lmao brooo 👊🏼😵
I simply CANNOT stop listening to this. The song has so many different elements in it and I love the sound of Diddy's taking damage sound in the background.
Devs implying will be losing diddy A LOT!
ruclips.net/video/66GtKS7y16s/видео.html
If you listen closely, right after the Diddy’s “OW” Donkey Kong follows with the “OOH” but its very low end and toned down. Might be hard to hear without studio monitors.
This song is lit bro
yeah im d accord with you
I cried when I heard this my dad showed me this game when he booted it up I felt like it was the old ages and I was growing up with it I miss the old times when I had my dad
Father loss? Same. I never had that game originally for SNES (only smw, all stars and yoshis island), anyways, I used to play smb3 with my dad, and it was the best thing I had after the schoolweek. Imagine it like so: I coming on a Friday out of the bus, walk home, eat something, do my hw and then get a bag of chips, some soda, my dad and the SNES and then we started. Sadly, he died 4-5 years ago...
@@botfella3654 it’s ok man I know how it feels I know it hard to get through but I know you will get through that
i know how that is i lost my dad to cancer when i was three its been 10 years now it never gets easier
My dad did the same he brought this super Nintendo system and this donkey Kong game and other extra games when me and my brother was kids back in those days great memories
@@mckenziemilord8675 Im glad you had a good father. Many of us (including myself) wish ours had died long ago. Its better to have no father than a really bad and horrible one...
The fact this was quickly referenced in the movie's OST (Drivin' Me Bananas) but was replaced by Take On Me (which I love) is so sad to me
Agreed; I hope they bring it back on streaming or disc
i agree, superstars was supposed to be replaced also and the composer (i think) fought for it
Oh no... No, no, no They, they couldn't have done this to me 😭
Not that Take on me is a bad song. It's actually really good. But it didn't fit the movie and I feel like if it played drivin' me bananas I would cry 😆

The passionate workload for Donkey Kong Country was intense. The rendering machines they used for the models would become so hot that they had to direct all their office fans at them to keep the units from overheating. This meant no cool air for the development team during the hot summer of 93’.
And it really shows. even today the game still looks fantastic and even newer Donkey Kong games like Donkey Kong country returns and tropical freeze have replicated the art style while improving it as well as the gameplay.
I've had this experience with my own computer trying a really complicated Blender render.
The fool thing raised the temperature in my apartment by like 5+ degrees.
@@sandakureva it must have been crazy with a computer that was probably 100x slower and less efficient making all of the models for dkc
Absolute madness, this is one reason why the donkey Kong team will go down in history

This brings back memories from my childhood. When I was a kid, my grandpa and I would play this, Super Marioworld, and a few other games on their old SNES and N64. These were some of my best memories of my grandfather. I was young, so I kinda sucked at video games, which means it would amaze me even more when we (mostly he) would beat either game. It’s been years now since my grandpa passed away, he was my father figure, and I didn’t really know how to deal with his death (he died when I was still kinda young, lung cancer). These games helped me cope, and they still bring back memories and feelings from the past.
this deserves more likes.

The harmony in the intro falling away to that central bassline with the funky mouth bongo on the backbeat is genuine musical genius.

This can make a grow man cry.
In a fact, it's kinda doing it.
When all hope is lost, the enemy has you pinned, all your comrades are being shot down one by one and there it is. On the top of that hill. The enemy stops shooting and they turn to stare at the silhouette of two objects. They look in disbelief and partly fear. You turn to look what they are looking at and you see it. You can barely make it out because the sun is staring at you from being the two silhouettes. But you put your hand over your eyes to take a closer look. A sudden rush of hope surges. The silhouette of a giant gorilla and a small monkey by his side. The Gorilla seems to be holding an object in its hands. “Could it be” you ask yourself. The figures walk closer and you see them clearly now. Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong. Donkey Kong puts down the object he is holding. A radio of course. He clicks a button and this theme starts playing. All of a sudden a bunch of monkey reinforcements walk up behind the two heroes. He looks at you and you nod and turn your head to the enemy. Donkey Kong and diddy Kong help you take on the evil army as they scramble to fight back. Now the tables have turned and you will get back your bananas. “For Donkey Kong Country” you scream as you charge the enemy with the monkeys on your side. Then you wake up and it turns out you fell asleep listening to the games theme song. Silly you.

Donkey Koong, where have you gone?
Donkey Kong, you have been seen
Donkey Kong, you cannot fail
Anthony Spitery I actually can hear these lyrics
I can imagine your lyrics as the first stanza(?) at the arcade bit, while the remix part will have the brentalfloss lyrics. If you're wondering about said lyrics, here's what it follows:

Changed his pal and changed his dame
But he came and changed the game
And the world was not the same

When you realize that old sounding sort of 8-bit cubic music you often think is designed to be retro is not at all a design feature and really just exists solely for the reason that data storage was incapable of storing normal sounding melodies in their original forms, but now we look back at it like a design choice.

In the context of opening up a brand new Super Nintendo, and inserting this game to play for the very first time. You set it in to then see an antiquated record start playing a familiar 8-bit music soundscape, to then drop the hardest beat you've ever heard. It was experiencing a new level of music that was now capable on this amazing console. At least that's what I imagine would've happened for someone...

0:19 I really like this part
I can feel the nostalgia flowing in my veins as I listen to this masterpiece.
Was this the earliest instance of this theme, or did it appear in any of the earlier arcade games?
This appears in the original Donkey Kong but without the country part
The 8-Bit portion at the beginning is ripped straight from the arcade
To answer your question in a more straightforward way than others have, no, this was not the earliest instance of this melody. It is the theme to the original Donkey Kong on NES, but rearranged and modernized (at the time) for Donkey Kong Country. It's part of the joke when you boot up the game, because the old man (Cranky Kong, suggested to be the original arcade Donkey Kong) is playing the song on a phonograph when the younger, hip kid (present day Donkey Kong) comes in with a boombox version instead.
This is simply inspired by the original arcade theme song. I personally feel it's different enough that this is the first time we heard this particular vastly different take on it. So your question is not very easy to answer, but I would personally say yes, this is the first time we heard this particular *nearly* original theme song.
I'll probably be the only one to ask this, but do the rareware logo next :joy:
