2:23 you must have been flying at 25mW or standby mode (meaning you didn't hook up the TX and RX properly on the WS VTX or didn't set up your MSP display port tab in BF). A lot of the issues you explain honestly sound like user error. Not upgrading the firmware is an interesting topic. IF there is a FW deemed dangerous then yes, Caddx needs to be flashing a stable build before shipping. But you choosing not to do it is kinda on you. However the files are not hard at all to find with a google or youtube search. In fact, the placard that comes with the goggles literally have a QR code that directs you to Walksnail's download center... I will say the proprietary cable for the VTX is a bit ridiculous. It should be OTA or USB C. Also btw, the WS goggles do record OSD (tell me you've noticed the numerous .osd files on your SD card after flyinh??) but you have to overlay it with a 3rd party app. You can toggle the OSD on or off, again that's your own problem if the FW you're running is not up to date. You don't know how to close out of the menu on the goggles? Are you even trying or do you expect to be spoonfed? There are a handful of buttons, you didn't try clicking any of them? Remember the placard I mentioned earlier? Yeah, that has a diagram showing what each button does... Surely an educated assumption is that one of the buttons close the menu... Are you absolutely helpless? It's probably not online cause 99.9% of people figured it out themselves within 30 seconds. WS will display a red box around the image when your connection gets low -- it's possible that was improved upon with later FW updates that you ignored. You sound almost willfully ignorant and uneducated about the goggles it's actually astounding if I'm being honest. I would argue it's nearly irresponsible, which is ironic since you talk about safety and consult the FAA-like institutions for two countries. Were you wearing a blind fold when you unboxed your goggles? If I didn't know any better I'd think this video was a joke or a paid hit piece by competitors, sheesh... some really awful takes here.
@@MaiOnHigh So you don't fry your VTX on the bench or after a crash. The same thing as low power on disarm in BF for analog. That's not even really the main thing that bothered me, it's also very possible the lower FW was just not as stable, which if that's the case I agree that Caddx needs to ship with a stable FW. However, I edited my comment as I was watching because I just couldn't believe the things you were saying. The parts that astounded me was the willful ignorance and opting to power off and on your goggles to exit the menu, while calling out "how hard is it to have a QR code on a little card in the box" when there literally is, with a diagram of the back button in plain sight. Almost everything you said sounded uneducated about the product. Kind of unfair to Caddx, I hope you paid for those yourself and they didn't send them to you for free and get this video in return... You say you searched for a while for the FW files, I don't even know how that's possible. You didn't think to go to the manufacturers website? Or Google? There are legitimate criticisms for WS but none of what you said is applicable IMHO. I'm really not trying to be mean btw, but it just seems like you put little to no effort in educating yourself on how to use them, then make assumptions like black screens with digital FPV is just something you have to deal with. That is not the case at all. You clearly have influence in the community and your comments could turn people off from WS altogether and they're not really based in facts.
Man, look, she really don’t know what she was saying…one that can’t find from where download the firmware versions of ws, that means lot 😅 don’t waiste your time…
@@thomasdallapalma5034 It's just annoying and irresponsible. I would be pissed if I were caddx and sent the product for free and got this "testimonial" as a result. But yes, I agree with you.
The difference/delay between sound and vision is more affected by the time it takes the sound to reach your ears than anything. Sound travels at roughly 1 foot per mS so if you're 100 feet away the sound will be delayed by 1/10th of a second which is *way* more latency than you get through a digital FPV system. At 500ft, the latency (to your ears) is 500mS (half a second). I'm totally used to the huge delay between when I punch the throttle and I actually hear the props scream -- it is often an order of magnitude more than the video latency on even the worst FPV digital system.
There has to be something not right then, because when I was punching close to myself I first heard it, and then saw it. It is minimal (unless the lag appears) but I have noticed it 🤷🏻♀️ I may be just overreacting (like I said in the video) 😅
Have you switched to digital or have you atarted with it right away!? Do you have similar thoughts about the topic? 🤔 👀 Watch me next! "i tried FPV again... And... Wow" ruclips.net/video/giw73U_GNkM/видео.html
I have started on analog and went digital. But i still fly analog sometimes. But a blackout 5 meters from you… maybe it has something to do with you having patches on your goggles? And people been saying that stock antennas on avatar are crap. Maybe try a better ones?🤷♂️
I recently switched from analog to walksnail system. I was using VRX at the beginning but I've bought walksnail goggles a few days ago. Haven't decided to leave analog for good yet, but I'm thinking about it (BTW, I still have Orqa's from you) 😄 And about the walksnail - I haven't tried DJI myself, only once or twice as a spectator, but walksnail is pretty good, and what I like in it is that the delay is pretty consistent. Also - updates are necessary, the newer versions are much better (maybe except the last one). And actually you can see the osd on the recordings in the goggle (at least with some newer firmware), there is also a tool to overlay the osd and srt data on the recorded video.
Not supposed to use higher than a 5s battery. Some will handle 6s unofficially but there is too high of a chance of damaging goggles so 5s is the manufacture limit
HDZero pilot here - there is a flash recovery procedure if there is a problem. Latency, very very low, dont notice really. I never had issues with random loss of video, even with a broken antena on the vtx. The HDZero failure is gradual with pixellation before loss of picture, same as analogue. Neither system is perfect, HDZero boards are quite fragile unless you use the freestlyle one, and lets be honest, its not as good as DJI when compared side-by side, but its 1/2 the price also.
I changing to walksnail too , but now i got nazgul v3 analog , if you dont mind would you do the video soldering and other stuff to change the vtx module . i think it use blitz f7 board . thanks 👋
I haven't used walksnail honestly. I use DJI. I love it, I started with anolog on my first quad and I didn''t like it because I prefer better image quality over untra low latency. If walksnail, HDZero or any other future FPV manufacturer becomes a better alternative to DJI I will be all over it, but for now DJI is the most solid option when it comes to digital.
I have the VRX module on sky04L goggles and have seen the black screen also. I was blaming the HDMI cable or module on my goggles. using the HD0 cable now and havent seen the black screen since. Im curious, when you black screen, is your DVR still recording? mine recorded everything fine, no black screen, which is why I blamed the connection to the goggles.
It atops recording on the blackscreen and starts again once it's back. We actually solved it a little, which will make it to my full review. It's connected with goggle settings and something that I consider BORDERLINE IDIOTIC
@@MaiOnHigh or can attach it to your Orqa. As long as you have the HDMI cable. Guess this is a great time for more review content from you Lexi! Been too long
You are the perfect candidate for HDZero. And I feel some of your comments are kinda unfair. Everyone knows that the first thing you should do is update to the latest or same firmware. Also there is a page on top of the goggles when you unbox them that shows what all the buttons do. Including the back button.
I understand your point, but as I said in my argument - people just joining the hobby - have no idea all has to be updated, and where to find those updates 🤷🏻♀️ yes I am critical about it 😔
@@MaiOnHigh Honestly I don't want people getting into the hobby if they can't bother to spend 30 seconds to read at the placard that comes in the damn box. There is a QR code on the placard that comes in the box that brings you to the download center.
Also idk if this will help you but in dji goggles the temp control when your quads plugged in you can shut it off and it should allow you to record thru and thru unless your battery is unplugged, I know it’s a different system
I always had the same issue with digital systems and wondered if we could not come up with "analogue" back up? Like a fail safe mode? But first let me go through your other videos...
I personally wasn't that impressed with HDZero... But maybe because I hate the idea of extra mofule etc. Maybe I need the hdzero goggles 😂 (hdzero is on all my racing quads)
@@MaiOnHigh When I tried HDZero with the module, it was absolutely unusable for me because of the variable delay and overall glitching and inconsistency. But when I got my HDZero goggles last year, I absolutely fell in love with the system (especially with the Runcam90 camera) It made me into a much better pilot, and made me love flying more than I thought possible! Also, I use Avatar for long range and complex environments, and absolutely love it for that. Firmware is huge, as the system was in no way ready when released, but is honestly quite amazing right now. I fly HDZero 90% of the time, but Avatar definitely has its place in my tool chest.
ngl im more confident with analog breakup rn,; bom for me is liek scouting with analog to get some muscle memory when dealing with the ... slippiage of the stuttering packet loss orwhatever. also, whats stopping walksnake from producing hdzero goggles? heh rhetorical q
Why did you not go HDZero? I have done all three and well first impression of Walksnail is really bad and is because I got a bad vtx unit and first thing they ask is for me to buy new cables and cameras . I really like hdZero as it’s as easy as analog and has the lowest latency of all the systems and even lower than analog if you drop down to standard tv resolution. It does however still have one major issue, penetration. There are many things you can do to overcome this but, we are talking out of the box.
I really hated the extra big module on my goggles. Too many cables, too heavy, really struggled (that was before the hdzero goggles) Plus when I was flying it - it wasn't really lifechanging ... Walksnail is lifechanging now that it works to be fair 🤷🏻♀️😅 hdzero is ok for racing, but I went away from that after 6 years, and for freestyle/long range penetration is needed 😅
If my system just goes straight to black I'm never using it, a pretty picture doesn't make up for reliability. Also it's really nice after 10 years on analog never having to update it once.
Exactly! Thank you! Those updates... Sure... Nice... BUT! Either give me full instruction with a qr code and friendly easy setup, or just leave me alone 😂
I did a lot of research before I got walks nail system. I have only experienced the blackout issue once, when I was flying with two other people. But I realized that I was probably on a frequency they were using. The goggles when turned are are not only received but also transmitting. So interference can happen. I use channel 7 at home since it's in a range above wifi and typically free. But when I fly with my friends, I have to use channel 3 to not bump into their frequencies. Walksnail also has the OSD info saved in a different file...it's a bit of a pain to put things together but there are some good apps. Since starting with walksnail they've had two upgrades that have made things really better. They also listen to the community pretty nicely.
@@MaiOnHigh Yea, I think having a module kinda just makes the setup too bulky. I like the HDZ Goggles have been flying micros; but I guess you can do the same with WS too.
I run fw 31 still in 1080p mode and get great results but to be honest i wouldnt fly any digital drone eithout gps rescue. I find the 100fps mode to be less smooth and sometimes nuasiating to fly.
Hello 👋, this is a very convenient video because I'm just about to buy Walksnail sistem with all different VTX's available, since I have from tiny drones thru 5 and 7 inches to long range RC planes, in genral I like Walksnail Video quality but that black screen you showed there really terrifies me. In addition to updating the firmware, what other advice can you give me to use Walksnail? Thank you so much girl for this video 👏
Hi! It turned out that I had a faulty vtx! What I can say is "stay away from standby mode", "make sure your antennas are placed well" and "max power is the same as 500mw... It really doesn't go higher than that" 🤷🏻♀️
I started with BOTH... Analog AND DJI Digital. My digital drones get flown WAY more. Being able to SEE tiny branches, twigs, even wires and fences is a LOT easier with the higher resolution digital systems. Yes, video blackout is an issue with digital.... but snow is an issue with analog. Everything is a compromise, it's just a question of what YOU are willing to live with. Personally, if I lose video... it's just an immediate disarm if there's ANYONE around or if I was heading towards someone's property (like a car). I'd rather the drone hit the dirt than hit a person or their property... But thankfully, I haven't had an issue with video cuts at all with the DJI system (Caddx Vista units primarily) and the Goggles V2. I've enjoyed it so far... even moreso after hacking it and unlocking all the features DJI should have given us to begin with...
Absolutely agreed with the disarm procedure. From long range I also use "go up" and that's what I've done as it was my maiden flight and I knew there was no soul around. Still, it's a problem. As I said in the video. I am just an FPV grandma and I am complaining 👵😂
@@MaiOnHigh Oh yeah, I agree... I also make sure to yaw spin in case it's just my battery or frame or something causing the degraded signal by reflecting the signal away... Fortunately, this doesn't happen often with what I'm using. As for "grandma"... I'm older than you! ;) Never give up the "Spring Chicken" status! hah! Enjoy the sky time! :)
Never had a black screen with either DJI or Walksnail. I like Walksnail better because it works with tiny 1S whoops/picks and I'd rather update that system than DJi.
I just like analog, it feels like I have an extra layer of info coming from the quad, certain types of breakup can indicate issues with the build and you have a gradual failure in most cases. Out of all the systems HDZ seems like the next move but it doesn't look like it will be soon for me. I really don't like the flashes of rainbow screen, it's like someone flying DJI is stomping on you but they arent lol
I wasn't that impressed with hdzero the last time I tried it and I hated the module on top of my goggles for it. 🤷🏻♀️ Maybe I need the goggles and another try there
thanks for the vid, im sure loads of others have said it, but something is way off on a lot of things, the quality looks really bad, standard antennas are crap, and are you running full power (800w-1200w) and high frame rate mode? thats best for latency. im running walksnail and dji and never get blackouts are 100% not ok or normal, 6s kwad yes, goggles def no. exit the menu by pressing the front round button without the red rec button, so not d-pad, not the rec - the only other one. latency isn't normal again loose the stock antennas on the goggles :)
Yeah it turned out that I had a faulty vtx 🤷🏻♀️😂 And I have to long press the button to get out of the menu - with a delay still. That's why I couldn't figure it out
@@MaiOnHigh phew :) and yeah i'm using the v1 vtx beacuse i broke 3 v2's on first flight, weirdly the v1 seems rock solid and bando proof! hopfully they make the v2 bit more sturdy - also super jealous of bali 😎
Yeah which is exactly why I am saying we have to buy from fpv manufacturers to support them in the process. DJI has unlimited capital for this 🤷🏻♀️ it's creating a monopoly on digital
100% agree, buy the tables are turning with this DJI ban uncertainty. DJI doesn’t really have a direct competitor. I have 2 DJI camera drones and looking at the Avata 2 for cinematic FPV, but this ban has me looking at other HD VTX systems and drones. Unfortunately, nothing stacks up in a 1:1 comparison to DJI.
Nice first impression video!!! It is very frustrating that nothing is 'working' right out of the box for almost all FPV related items. It seems like for whatever you get, you need to spend a day before the first use to properly use something and you can't jump in to it... Anyway, since you are usually a racer, why did you go with walksnail and not HDzero, which is targeted more towards race and low latency???
I have hdzero in all of my racing quads but I hated the module for goggles. Just too much stuff. And I wanted to see the magic beauty. While the hdzero doesn't "change my life" visually - walksnail totally did
Id say black outs are dangerous, focus mode does show when your out of range also, delay is nornal even with dji. Its called osd they also have a tool to put it into osd elements, but i dont like that.
@@MaiOnHigh ya I saw a video on how to add it on to videos using the tool I rather it would just be part of the video in meta data instead, but I think due to patents they had to make an osd to video imput tool.
You are so adorable(I hope you take no offense to that) It’s so nice having you back on the hobby side of things. I really enjoy your point of view on things. Best wishes!!
@@Daniel_SWE it's pretty I noticed the res difference on the 1080 settings, but I also noticed the latency and the blurring at the sides. If I fly fast I fly HDzero if cruising very slow WS lol 😅
@@z9ombi I wasn't expecting to hear that that there are so much a differens in latency. My head turns it into almost unflyable if your trying anything but basic cinematic flying?
HDzeri has way less latency but it doesn't look super great. Walksnail looks great but has more latency and other issues 😅 All in all - It was not as lifechanging as I thought to switch my racing quads to hdzero... But it's lifechanginf for walksnail when it goes to quality. If it makes sense 🤔 maybe a comparison video?
@@MaiOnHigh Yes it was, I've used a friends analog setup and I'm glad I skipped that era... Never used walksnail but from what I've read and the video clips you've shared I'm in no hurry to switch.
I purchased this system as my first fpv experience and love it. I’ve flown 100 packs and have never had a black out. Maybe I’ve been lucky .At 60 I found it relatively easy to update the system, I just watched a person updating it on you tube and followed along. BTW the most forward button on top of the goggles is the back button to exit out of the settings menu😀. Thanks for the review at first I to thought I’d made a mistake not going with DJi but the more I fly it and with each update they are working hard to make it better. Sd card in VTX would be nice though.
@@MaiOnHighI fully agree with you if it comes to the black screen, this definately must not hapen. However rest of your confusions are ridiculous. You have a separate button to move back in the menu. Remind yourself how it was when you started with the hobby 🫣
i would look at this the following way: if you regularly fly with a bunch of people at the same time (like me) or are racing, that leaves you with analog or hdzero (because of the 1-way link), if you fly alone most of the time and not racing, DJI and walksnail and others are the better options.

Do you have problems with listening and understanding? I mentioned in the video that this is not MY CONFUSION and I don't find it hard to google things. I said that for people who are JUST STARTING with FPV and this is their absolute first time having goggles or digital system - it may not be that obvious. People coming to fpv now may be less tech savvy than when I was starting. And I never had to do a software update on my analog goggles or vtx 😉
This is why I rate just go straight to the original digital company DJI for variable latency. Made the mistake of getting clone analog goggles. Now on good ol fathsharks and they just work.
I'd say "stay with what makes you happy and makes sense for you" I am really trying to stay away from DJI to support fpv business instead of a monopoly company 🫡
Love your work. Not only are you absolutely stunningly beautiful but so intelligent and just an amazing pilot! As soon as I saw the black sandy beach I knew you were in Bali.... But are you telling me that CASA has jurisdiction over Balinese FPV/ Aviation? Not surprised considering the proximity to Australia although surprised it's not under the Indonesian DGCA. Do the DGCA have authority over your flying and operations in Balinese airspace or is it CASA? Keep up the amazing work! Also I'm an amateur linguist and can usually guess the native tongue of non-native english speaker. You have outstanding English... And considering that and your photonic phrases can I assume you are native Dutch or Danish speaker? 😊 Also there is a Dutch FPV pilot RUclipsr in Bali as well .. he flies using the DJI 03 system.... Have you ever met him?
@@CÆSSIUS32 casa has absolutely no jurisdiction over Bali 😅 And I am not futch nor danish 😅 Thanks for your comment! I don't think I ever met a person you are talking about
@MaiOnHigh 😂 god that must seem so stupid... Sorry. I just assumed you mentioning CASA observing your flying meant that. Obviously the DGCA has the governing regulations for you in Bali? I just received my first FPV Quad. The EMAX TINYHAWK III Plus Freestyle in Analog. Obviously with casa you cannot fly fpv with goggles unless you are a Aero club member of the MAAA. But with this kit the goggles rave a removable Monitor so I can still fly legally without goggles until I receive membership of an Aero club lol... Are they that strict in Indonesia? Didn't mean to offend you about being Dutch or Danish sorry.
@@MaiOnHigh oh good 😊 I'm so happy to see a beautiful intelligent woman like yourself standing out in the FPV community. I applaud all your work. Do you ever travel to Australia to fly fpv for fun or racing? Wish CASA was more relaxed about FPV. Oh and I have a question from a Noob, to a professional like yourself. The TinyHawk III Plus freestyle I have just received has Emax branded 2.5 inch tri-blade props. Now when I put them on upside down (I know 😳 😆) I had to push them on quite hard. Without even having put screws in, Upon trying to pull them off the stator I literally couldn't. It took so much effort to remove them I really am confused why they seem like push on props and are so difficult to remove. Any ideas? But the worst thing is that when I got them on (the correct way) I tried to put the prop screws in and it was so difficult and took so much effort I assume something is wrong with the screw size or size of the screw holes? Or is this normal.... Because when I tried to put the same prop screw in upside down they went iin so easily compared to the correct side. I'm so confused 😔
You keep making fantasic videos, thank you! I'm consider myself new to all aspects of the drone hobby even if I tried both Analog and HDZero (only becourse I was gifted a drone for that system). My biggest problem in the hobby is to find information and hearing that you have similar experiens feels kind of like a relief and scares me at the same time as you've been in it for so long and still it's the same. In my opinion the arrival of HDZero and Walksnail was about the best thing that could happen as they offer cheaper alternatives to DJI and will allow more people to try digital FPV. Not sure if I've got it completly right but Walksnail is the good looking system while the HDZero is the fast system. Guessing there are some truth in it as HDZero marketing themselfs for racers.
Wow... Thank you so, so much for this comment. I was always being told that "you know better, so why won't you do things properly?" Well... I know... But many people don't and flv companies seem to suck at customer service. Adding a note with information wouldn't break anyone's bank. Would it? I am preparing a full,-blown course with all the information step by step, so people can get stuff all in one place, and access to community of people who can also help. This will include live Q&A sessions and more. Be on a lookout for that through my newsletter www.maionhigh.com/newsletter I just made a beginner training program too! 💜 And I agree - the learning curve and problem-solving may be one of the reasons for a slow growth.
HDzero isn’t just fast, take a deep dive in the camera modes, you’ll find the ‘fast’, but also settings for general purpose and a high def. And I think there’s more in the works. It’s complicated, like a lot of things in FPV, and I’m still figuring it out, but that’s part of the joy I guess 🙂😉
@@Daniel_SWE from the top of my head, and IF your camera and goggles can handle all of it, it should be in the OSD camera menu, to switch between 1080p, 720p and 540p with different frame rates.
Well I am explaining why I personally struggle with the change, and also use an example of a podcast episode of onigiriandco, where more people have shared similar thoughts. It's not a different breed it's just people get used to things 🤷🏻♀️
Great video! I have been into fpv for a year now, flying analog. And i just decided last week to try digital. And i went for the walksnail system. Git the gear only have to build into my quads yet 😊 Can't wait to see the beautiful hd picture and hoping for no black screen of death
Still on Analog since 2014 and finally looking to upgrade to some original HDO's. I know, I'm still behind the game. Hopefully someday I'll switch to Digital once my bank account allows it. You wouldn't have some HDO'S you'd like to donate? 😂
I love the great value walksnail offers for analog users moving to hd. I have the vrx and it fantastic for better flying experience and dvr. Delay isn't a problem for me as I don't fly fast 😆
Yes, Walksnail has gotten better, but still has its issues. That being said, it has been on the market for over a year now to finally get to a usable point. I personally have to go with DJI, while it is in some ways an evil corporation, the video quality is miles ahead of any other system (plus I already have the goggles). I would try walksnail, but I’m not re-buying it for a Gen 2 DJI experience. The only lacking quality of the DJI O3 system is low light and ability for use with micros. It’s the only thing close enough to ditch the GP in some situations and stay under 250g. I am glad we do have an up and coming rival system, to push everything forward.
@@MaiOnHigh of course, if I could I would love to experiment with WalkSnail for 1S micros, like for HD tiny whoop footage. Something that is undeniably safe, and would be able to get usable footage. I personally just cannot justify the cost, as I’m already waaay too far down the DJI rabbit hole. 24 digital quads(5 with the O3 system). As much as I would love to have every system, I have to stick with what I have. And like I said, the hardware is amazing, even though the company isn’t sometimes. Hopefully you can get the WalkSnail to work for you. No system is perfect. Best wishes!
updating your gear is a given. hardware in this hobby has a service life measured in months. firmware life is measured in days. a drone built today will be obsolete in 3 months. you HAVE to update firmware's.I have been flying walksnail since the VRX came out. V1 and V2 vtx. I have never had a black screen once. you will get a red border on your screen when link gets weak. I have had stutters on early firmware but even those are rare now.
I am more than aware of this, but as I mentioned in the video - I can bet money on people not knowing. FPV needs to learn basic customer service and adding a note with a qr code and clear instructions won't break anyone's bank. I also agree with steele on this - if shit works - we won't update or touch it. 🤷🏻♀️ I saw red border once before pixelation... But just once. I had lags, pixelation and black screen without it 🤷🏻♀️ bug?
I agree with you, If something straight out of the box needs Firmware updates there should be instructions. Good working digital is great but the lack of warning when signal is about to be lost is a problem. There needs to be a good signal indication and they need to fix the recording in the Goggles so it keeps recording when signal is lost. Hope these are things that are easy fixed.
Yeah exactly! The user-friendly setup is THE KEY! And I hate to say it but I bet dji just informs about a need of an update? 🤷🏻♀️ FPV REALLY has to step up its game in the user-friendly setups and basic customer service 🤷🏻♀️
Have you used this system? There's a four bar signal strength indicator in the bottom right of the screen and a red border flashes around the screen when your signal is critical. Poster of this video is clueless.
@@wattage2007 I saw the red border once before a lag. The black screen and, freeze and pixelation happened without a red border, hence I mentioned it. And with the "full signal strength" so as you may imagine - I am not trusting that signal strength indication after those situations 🤷🏻♀️
You make some great points here, which I fully agree with (Never DJI 😜)!!! I’ve gone with HDzero due to the lack of latency, and compatibility of the goggles. Might add WS in the future for specific applications, but I’m pretty happy with what I’ve got.
Yeah I only have a bit less then a year but I’ve gone thru so many quads with the dji hd system and it will get blocky but never ever all black. Dji isn’t a great company morally but their goggles v2 are way better then walksnail imo you have a good chance to get signal and never just blacks out.
@@MaiOnHigh right I hear you there. I’m trying to work closer with some companies but you seem to have a good communication with them and that’s super important. But yes frustrating is what fpv stands for right?! I’m glad your making content again!
you may wanna give the DJI O3 a try if you wanna try a more rounded and well developped digital product. Walksnail is kinda the last DJI system but with firmware that feels like it's coded by 2 persons... updating it should help a lot already, they did a ton... but quality- and latency wise it's nowhere near an O3. plus that thing records in 10bit onto an sd-card for you. With the Vista generation I flew digital a lot but always got back to analog. the constant stutter, lag, blockyness, selectively blocking out my wood way cause you need the leaves above in hd more right... the freeze frame and 4s to recover... all stuff that sucked and made analog so much more immersive despite it's looks. now you also got HDZ with their revolutionary 90hz cam which truely does 90hz and 4ms glass to glass and not just interpolates frames like dji at 32ms. the breakup-behaviour is also much smoother but still breaks up faster and less expectable then analog, but you pay for this with image quality of course. analog still has a fine place in the fpv community... so robust, matured, cheap and the pcb's are tiny. and with the HDZ goggles it looks better than ever before... Long story short: Much more to try and give that poor WS set a chance by updating it. I hope they expressed a cable to you asap :)
Haha I will update it back in Dublin. 😅 We kinda solved the issue, I think I just got a faulty set - it happens. But I think I needed that rant anyway 😅 it's not only about walksnail, it's just general thought
@@MaiOnHigh The old FW apparently blacked out a lot though. Break-up pattern now is more like a smear all over the picture… not too much better. The O3 apparently freeze-frames once it breaks up as Falcon Rad experienced in the latest flight. But yeah… all those systems have their quirks. I have the feeling I'll keep flying analog for quite a while still, lol.
I found myself 😇😍 and the crash on the beach was actually super dangerous. I just noticed that you can fly straight into yourself 😵 Luckily nothing happened to you - except for the broken camera and the magnetic sand in the motor.
I love my analog, just as much as my digital. I have M.S and dizzy all the time. If im dizzy, ill fly analog. Easier on the eyes. Digital is great except in a hard crash. I've lost video several times, and it doesn't come back. Never had that is with analog. I wish I could try out more systems. Dji has already taken all my money. I have 10 vista's, and haven't broken one
Fully invested in V2 goggles and vista's 9 ,and 1 air unit. I would like to try the walksnail system sometime in the future. Kinda waiting to see who takes the crown between hdzero and walksnail. I am not too big on the 03 system but I haven't tried it either. I kinda have a tiny face too.🤦🏼♂😂 Keep rockin Lexie!!!
Yeah it's pretty hard isn't it? I kinda try to refuse using DJI 😂 wanna support fov manufacturers more. I hated the module for hdzero (maybe I need to try their goggles) and I pretty much love walksnail setup. Except the issues mentioned in the video 😂 we solved some... But still 🤷🏻♀️
@@MaiOnHigh I agree I would rather support an FPV company way before DJI and I will be moving forward. I'm sure they will work the bugs out of the WS system soon.
Assume o3 will blow your mind and quality of onboard camera .. you’ll forget about walksnail . I was on vistats. Decided hdzero. Got googles .. understood how I was naive :) tried o3 .. hdz resting on shelf now .
It's funny some ppl think it's a dying hobby. I don't know where they get that bc we have kids and teens girls and boys are always at the flying field.
I think a lot of stuff that we do (as community) and manufacturers do (with an ease of getting information and user friendly interfaces - is slowing down the growth. It's not dying for as long as we, the community are helping newbies and stay supportive and informative
That's how I feel and I like to help new pilots out but some will not give them the time of day. It's sad to see someone turned off by the hobby bc someone laughed at them or just brushed them off. Sicking🤬
They typically do... you aren't accounting for the fact that these boxes can sit on shelves for months or even years AFTER they are shipped from the factory.
Yeah … that menu is the worst. Navigation is so haphazard. And not recording the OSD along with the video in the DVR sucks. Two things the 03 with Goggles 2 does way better. I fly both, BTW.
@@MaiOnHigh you might should be fan of DJI, cuz analog, HDZero, and WalkSnail all of them have snow static and that's very annoying... But for DJI HD system, it does not have one bit of snow static and it just show little bit of pixelated which is way way much better than analog, HDZero, and WalkSnail.
@@indroneswetrust1 As a person who's flown analog for a decade I like the snow it lets me know when I'm losing signal I also use audio and it goes before video. I can fly long range right on the edge of the signal comfortably knowing when I'm reaching the limits, I've also have never had a problem doing a trick or hitting a gap because I couldn't see it in analog.
@@indroneswetrust1 please don’t spread false information. Walksnail does not have snow static. DJI has stuttering and Walksnail has smearing. You just decide what you prefer.
Mai first off walksnail is very buggy and really not a good fpv system i have had the worst crashes using that system as have others that i know digital is good Dji is the way to go for digital not walksnail we had a piolet here crash a drone using walksnail in to a child and that child lost her eye the person flying that drone had black out happen with no warning just quick blackout that system needs to be fixed and stop been sold until its fixed, so if you want to switch the digital go Dji or hdzero or just stay with analog stay away from the very buggy walksnail system.
Stock antennas are awful, they just don't work they have poor penetration and poor range, quality antennas = no black outs, i haven't experience any with quality antennas not the stock ones throw them in the bin 😀
Not ashamed, no... Just noticing why I personally struggle and giving it an informed thoughts. I am not the only one feeling this way 🤷🏻♀️ a lot of fellow pilots that started at a similar tome as me have it the same. We discussed it in the podcast episode
@@MaiOnHigh maybe I'm running all the systems and the new dji googles 2 are way better then the v2 google and I never had any problems with either now hd zero is ok but not for my evey day flying and the walk snail is good but dji 2 is way better still even on the caddx nebula pro.
I was flying on max power and not standby mode (which btw... What's the point of standby mode 🤷🏻♀️)
I'm currently working out how to setup a GPS on my quad so I can have it return to home if I ever black screen, or fall out of range.
It's super easy hook up to spare UART, set gps on ports tab and then set and test gps failsafe there's plenty of helpful videos out there.
@@thirtythreeeyes8624 From the vids I've seen yup. I'm just not the best at soldering. =P I'll get it done.
I guess it also depands what software you are running. Soldering is the least of a problem 😅😂
Lol y’a it’s pretty easy in beta flight. But the connections are SOO Tiney 😅
Have you switched to digital or have you atarted with it right away!? Do you have similar thoughts about the topic? 🤔
👀 Watch me next!
Haven't decided to leave analog for good yet, but I'm thinking about it (BTW, I still have Orqa's from you) 😄
And about the walksnail - I haven't tried DJI myself, only once or twice as a spectator, but walksnail is pretty good, and what I like in it is that the delay is pretty consistent.
Yeah that's what I heard and saw, so I was like "stick with a 4s"
In case of HDZERO if you update the firmware on your first use in some cases you would actually brick your goggles
Oh great 😂
HDZero pilot here - there is a flash recovery procedure if there is a problem.
I changing to walksnail too , but now i got nazgul v3 analog , if you dont mind would you do the video soldering and other stuff to change the vtx module . i think it use blitz f7 board . thanks 👋
Hi! I may be doing another build video in the future, maybe the soldering for the vtx, but I use fettec boards atm 😅
I understand 🤔
We have different preferences!
Agreed with you @geeH2oS
Hey, I have never had a black out with walksnail. There must be something wrong
We solved it with walksnail 😅 although it took some time.
I got something similar with DJI vista which suddenly lost signal.
Oh! Did you ever solve it?
For unique problems like yours. It would be HDZero goggles with Walksnail VRX. Can race on hdzero, and actual digital on walksnail for the cine stuff
Interesting. Haven't checked if walksnail can get my hdzero stuff
Wow... just stumbled about your channel and loved it from the 1st minute I watched this... New fan and new follower! Keep this up!
Haha thanks a ton! 💜
Also idk if this will help you but in dji goggles the temp control when your quads plugged in you can shut it off and it should allow you to record thru and thru unless your battery is unplugged, I know it’s a different system
Oh yeah I knew of that! 💜
I always had the same issue with digital systems and wondered if we could not come up with "analogue" back up? Like a fail safe mode? But first let me go through your other videos...
That would be actually an interesting solution to be fair 🤔
no delay with hdzero
You get break up before losing video too.
@@thirtythreeeyes8624 yeah that's great. especially for people used to analogue
But when I got my HDZero goggles last year, I absolutely fell in love with the system (especially with the Runcam90 camera)
It made me into a much better pilot, and made me love flying more than I thought possible!
Also, I use Avatar for long range and complex environments, and absolutely love it for that. Firmware is huge, as the system was in no way ready when released, but is honestly quite amazing right now.
I fly HDZero 90% of the time, but Avatar definitely has its place in my tool chest.
More like ZeroHD 😆
Black button next to the record button is the back button to get out of any menu im pretty sure
Doesn't work 😅
ngl im more confident with analog breakup rn,; bom for me is liek scouting with analog to get some muscle memory when dealing with the ... slippiage of the stuttering packet loss orwhatever. also, whats stopping walksnake from producing hdzero goggles? heh rhetorical q
*walksnail
I feel more confident with analog too... It's weird to say but "in case of stuff going wrong - I see more on analog 🤷🏻♀️"
Too many cables, too heavy, really struggled (that was before the hdzero goggles)
Plus when I was flying it - it wasn't really lifechanging ...
It turned out that I actually had a faulty vtx 🫡😂 issue is not happening with a new one.
And yeah... I'll look for the osd files
Loving my DJI O3 and HDZero no complaints from either.
I disliked the HDZero module. Do I need goggles to be happy again? 😂
I also don't want multiple goggles 🤦🏻♀️
@@MaiOnHigh Yea, I think having a module kinda just makes the setup too bulky. I like the HDZ Goggles have been flying micros; but I guess you can do the same with WS too.
All I know is dji 03 and I could never downgrade to worse video quality after starting the hobby with dji 🤣
@@BeautyBeastRC Yea the quality of the o3 is great; my daily driver tho has been an HDZ 75mm whoop and a HDZ 5" Freestyle
@@BeautyBeastRC I'm blown away by the o3 quality every time I switch to it tho.

I find the 100fps mode to be less smooth and sometimes nuasiating to fly.
Haha lack of trust? 😂
It turned out that it was actually a faulty vtx I got 🤷🏻♀️
@@MaiOnHighso now walksnail is great? 🎉
@@francorobredo9567 still mixed feelings 😅
Yeah it turned out that I had a faulty vtx 🤷🏻♀️😂
And I have to long press the button to get out of the menu - with a delay still. That's why I couldn't figure it out
@@MaiOnHigh phew :) and yeah i'm using the v1 vtx beacuse i broke 3 v2's on first flight, weirdly the v1 seems rock solid and bando proof! hopfully they make the v2 bit more sturdy - also super jealous of bali 😎

thank you for watching
Hate it or love it, DJI is king. Walksnail just doesn’t have the capital to grow with the times it seems like 🤷🏻♂️
Yeah which is exactly why I am saying we have to buy from fpv manufacturers to support them in the process.
DJI has unlimited capital for this 🤷🏻♀️ it's creating a monopoly on digital
I know ppl have to review different things, but using anything other than DJI (unless for financial purposes) is just baffling.
PREACH
I personally choose to use fpv manufacturers over dji 🤷🏻♀️
Financial and personal reasons
Why? The o3 is 12gr heavier than hdzero and 8gr heavier than walksanil.. it matters if you fly microfpv
Thank you for another video, and looking forward to full review, those black outs would have me freaking out.
Yeah totally freaked me out. In my mind it was more dramatic than in the video. But I guess a lot happened in my head 😂
I like OSD but I'm used to OSD being on my dvr recording. So... That's more like a HUD 😂
@@MaiOnHigh ya I saw a video on how to add it on to videos using the tool I rather it would just be part of the video in meta data instead, but I think due to patents they had to make an osd to video imput tool.

All in all - It was not as lifechanging as I thought to switch my racing quads to hdzero... But it's lifechanginf for walksnail when it goes to quality. If it makes sense 🤔 maybe a comparison video?
HdZero is good, but it wasn't THAT LIFECHANGING for me when it goes to the way it looks 🤷🏻♀️🤔 and I hated the module. Maybe I just need goggles 😂
DJI "air unit" with v1 goggles. I see no reason to switch to anything else yet, it just works and looks fantastic.

@@MaiOnHighI fully agree with you if it comes to the black screen, this definately must not hapen. However rest of your confusions are ridiculous. You have a separate button to move back in the menu. Or open the vendor's website, navigate to "support" tab, then download center? You will find the latest firmware and clear upgrade procedure, the only requirement is reading comprehension skills. i would look at this the following way: if you regularly fly with a bunch of people at the same time (like me) or are racing, that leaves you with analog or hdzero (because of the 1-way link), if you fly alone most of the time and not racing, DJI and walksnail and others are the better options.

Could it be more simple then that? Regarding your issues with looking for firmware, is it so challenging to put in Google "Walksnail firmware" and click first page on the list? Or open the vendor's website, navigate to "support" tab, then download center? You will find the latest firmware and clear upgrade procedure, the only requirement is reading comprehension skills. It is so logical that everyone who at least is able to open banana will manage it, without QR code 😆. Do you also have a problem with washing in the bathroom because you have two taps to turn on the water and you have to figure out which is hot and which is cold?
@@MaiOnHigh That's fair - was just looking at it from a product performance perspective
😊
Also there is a Dutch FPV pilot RUclipsr in Bali as well .. he flies using the DJI 03 system.... Have you ever met him?
@@CÆSSIUS32 casa has absolutely no jurisdiction over Bali 😅
And I am not futch nor danish 😅
Thanks for your comment!
@CÆSSIUS32 haha not offended at all.
Indonesia is pretty chill about fpv, so no worries there
@@MaiOnHigh oh good 😊 I'm so happy to see a beautiful intelligent woman like yourself standing out in the FPV community.
Is the fpv footage suposed to be this blurry?? Even myanalog is wqy sharper lul
🤷🏻♀️ later in the video - that's on me. My lens unscrewed a bit and I didn't have tools at the site. 😂
Man i also had the update black Screen and i was going crazy
It was insanity to be fair... So scary and dangerous
@@MaiOnHigh im not really Happy With the system i gotta say.
Echt enttäuscht
Be on a lookout for that through my newsletter www.maionhigh.com/newsletter
I just made a beginner training program too! 💜
And I agree - the learning curve and problem-solving may be one of the reasons for a slow growth.
@@JekleFPV How do I find those settings?
@@Daniel_SWE from the top of my head, and IF your camera and goggles can handle all of it, it should be in the OSD camera menu, to switch between 1080p, 720p and 540p with different frame rates.
I am curious what hd zero will do in the future. I prefer feeling fly than top image quality at all
You make it sound like analog fliers are a different breed of people. It took time to learn analog, it will take time to learn digital.
Git the gear only have to build into my quads yet 😊
Can't wait to see the beautiful hd picture and hoping for no black screen of death
Yeah be sure to update it, check everything twice and get out of the standby mode 😅
Excellent video. Topic analysed thoroughly 🙂
Linked the podcast and I have found it hilarious that the timing aligned 😂
Indeed! Haha! Sometimes it just works out ❤️
Still on Analog since 2014 and finally looking to upgrade to some original HDO's. I know, I'm still behind the game. Hopefully someday I'll switch to Digital once my bank account allows it. You wouldn't have some HDO'S you'd like to donate? 😂
Unfortunately not 🥹
But I totally get this point. This is why I was with analog for so long too
I love the great value walksnail offers for analog users moving to hd. I have the vrx and it fantastic for better flying experience and dvr. Delay isn't a problem for me as I don't fly fast 😆
I guess it's whatever floats people's boats 😂 something to get used to
Yes, Walksnail has gotten better, but still has its issues.
Yeah I am starting to believe that I'll have to really put my money into DJI 😔 but I really want to support the fpv manufacturers 😭
@tonyhadiputra you might want to lend her vtx usb cable. And show her around with fixed wing planes while you're at it 😅
I solved the issue without that, actually 😅🫡
@@MaiOnHigh how come? The socket at te vtx side is not that easy to find. Unless you happen to have similar cable from other component
updating your gear is a given. hardware in this hobby has a service life measured in months. firmware life is measured in days. a drone built today will be obsolete in 3 months. you HAVE to update firmware's.I have been flying walksnail since the VRX came out.
I saw red border once before pixelation... But just once.
I had lags, pixelation and black screen without it 🤷🏻♀️ bug?
i'm still stuck in analog.......but wait - it's worse than that.............i still use frsky!!!
😱 omg I hate frsky binding process. I refuse to take review units that run frsky 😂 (the hate is so far, yes)
You might have better experience with HDZero
I have HDZero in my racing quads, but I HATED the module 🤷🏻♀️
@@MaiOnHigh tx or rx?
@@martynah99 the rx module was annoying on top of other goggles
Analog absolutely does have “delay”.
Not comparable 🤷🏻♀️ still, unfortunately
No 6s battery
Thought so 😂
I agree with you, If something straight out of the box needs Firmware updates there should be instructions.
FPV REALLY has to step up its game in the user-friendly setups and basic customer service 🤷🏻♀️
I used hdzero in my racing quads but I hated the module on top of my goggles ... 🥹
Maybe I need the hdzero goggles
@@MaiOnHigh I love the goggles, especially with the 90fps camera. Pretty sure any racer will absolutely love that
Yeah I only have a bit less then a year but I’ve gone thru so many quads with the dji hd system and it will get blocky but never ever all black. Dji isn’t a great company morally but their goggles v2 are way better then walksnail imo you have a good chance to get signal and never just blacks out.
Generally we solved it with walksnail after a lot of brainstorming, so this is ok, but still - uncool.
@@aphinion we actually solved the issue a little (it's a longer story) so... Haven't had a blackout since.
Still pretty scared
@@MaiOnHigh did you do the FW update already? What are your thoughts now?
It could be overheating

Yeah! You'll find yourself in more videos! And yeah... I was sure I was going up. When I saw the footage... Wow

Sicking🤬
