  • 🫀HEART SOUNDS
🫀The heart's job is to pump blood and this can create some noise.
🩸1st sound (S1): "LUB". This sound is due to the closure of the AV Valves (bicuspid/tricuspid). It happens when the ventricles start to contract "Systole".
🩸2nd sound (S2): "DUB". This sound is due to the closure of the SL Valves (aortic/pulmonic). It happens when the ventricles start to relax "Diastole".
    ✅S1 + S2 = normal heart sounds✅
🩸3rd sound (S3): caused by increased atrial pressure leads to rapid ventricular filling.
👤Found in: HEART FAILURE with older patients, normal in younger patients less than 40 yrs.
🎶Sound: KEN...tucky, KEN...tucky. Very similar to the sound of a horse competing in the KENTUCKY derby.
🩸4th sound (S4): caused by a forceful atria contraction against noncomplaint/stiff ventricle.
👤Found in: Patients with stiff ventricles from hypertension, aortic stenosis, ischemic heart disease.
    🎶Sound: teNNE..ssee, teNNE..ssee
HEART MURMUR: normal blood flow is smooth with ⬇️ noise, heart murmurs are turbulent with ⬆️ noise.
🩸Mumur of Mitral Stenosis: caused by mitral valve narrowed.
👤Found in: Rheumatic Heart Disease, Infective Endocarditis
    🎶Sound: whispering the letter "R"
🩸Murmur of Mitral Regurgitation: caused by incompetent mitral valve.
👤Found in: Weak Valve, Ischemic Heart Disease, Infective Endocarditis, Rheumatic Heart Disease
🎶Sound: Being freezing and saying "Brrrr" 🥶❄️
🩸Murmur of Aortic Stenosis: narrowed aortic valve.
👤Found in: idiopathic age related calcification of valve
    🎶Sound: Touching lips to a fuzzy microphone.🎤
🩸Murmur of Aortic Regurgitation: caused by incompetent aortic valve that causes backflow of blood.
👤Found in: Connective Tissue Disorders (ex: Marfan Syndrome)
🎶Sound: diving and hearing noise underwater 🤿💦
    Hope this helps!
    XOXO Amanda

What about a murmur from a PDA? Does it fall into either of those categories? Our daughter had one as a baby and the nurse found it when she was a year old. She had to have open heart surgery soon after. I am so grateful for good nurses. ❤

My boyfriend keeps getting the brush-off from doctors and his heart sounds the most like S4 with a very occasional pause or delay. Where it races just a bit to catch up. I keep a stethoscope and know how to use it (I used to have to room patients but mostly it is now for livestock and hearing lung sounds). He had long-haul covid pneumonia back in 2021. He gets these "episodes," dips in SPO2 where he will plummet down 85% (that's the lowest I've seen with our SPO2 monitors, using both to double check). I'm just getting so frustrated because I KNOW something is wrong. He is always fatigued. His hands are warm, but his nail beds are always blue (cyanosis). Sometimes his lips even start to turn bluish. They just keep ignoring him and saying he has sleep apnea, but the C-PAP machine hasn't helped at all over a year and these episodes also happen WHEN HE IS AWAKE AND UPRIGHT. He had one appointment with a cardiologist. He looked at the "sleep apnea" diagnosis, didn't do anything as far as testing, said he probably has a premature heartbeat but it's no big deal, and no imaging or further testing. If it is no big deal, WHY does he get days his SPO2 can't get over 95%? Why does he still have blue nail beds? Why is he still plagued with fatigue? DO. YOUR. JOB. 😡😭

      @StarMercurian 10 месяцев назад +1

It sounds like he there is definitely something wrong with the way his heart is pumping blood through his arteries. His body is not getting enough oxygen which would explain why he is exausted and lethargic. I would change doctors in all honesty.

What does it means if it does lub dub lub dub then doom doom lub dub lub dub doom doom. I listen to my heart and I noticed that. I’ve been scared all weekend. I noticed that my jugular veins are pounding and feel a pause at my wrist pulse. Maybe I’m paranoid but just maybe I need to find a doctor.
