Ishq mein tere kohe gham sar pe liya jo ho so ho
aesh-o nishaate zindagi chhod diya jo ho so ho
Aql ke madrase se uth, ishq ke maikade mein aa
jaame fanaa bekhudi ab to piya jo ho so ho
hijr ki jo museebatein arz kiin uske rubaru
naazo adaa se muskura kehne lagaa jo ho so ho
hasti ke is saraab mein raat ki raat bas rahe
subhe adam huaa numoo, paaon uthaa jo ho so ho
This kalaam and voice take me to a place where violence, hate, and all other blemishes of the world we live in cease to exist. Thank you writer of this kalaam and Abida for gifting this world such a pure and beautiful escape.
Mountains of agony, I bear in Your love now, come what may
The luxuries of life, I forsake now, come what may
In the fervor of love, the threads of being seared
Oh doctor, don’t touch a patient like me,
Leave it for God; for God's sake come what may
Leave the madrassa of reason, enter the tavern of love
From chalice of annihilation and self effacement, drink now, come what may
The pangs of separation, I bared before the Beloved
With a smile of pride and elegance said Hu, "let it be"
In the mirage of this body, one dark night after another passes by
When finally the dawn arrives, be ready to step forward, come what may!
I care not about the good or bad of this world
One who has gone beyond the self, did what he did
come what may!

When I write off Abida for being too weird, she comes back smiling, so you think I was gone, think again, there is no LIVING SOUL on this Earth like me. I bow and say with humility, yes Goddess Perveen, you have no parallels. Period.
Since I loved someone which actually transformed from physical attraction to spiritual divine, and it ended like one sided with loads of woes and wounds with my heart, it was Raqs e Bismil by Abida who covered my into its arms and allowed me to cry on limitless.

I have liked her a lot (for almost 30 years) and disliked her weirdness sometimes, but I never thought she is not BEST living artist of our time, she is right there with Umme-Kalsoom & Reshman.

A very true depiction of the concept Islamic spiritualism, shaandaar kalam, shandaar gaiki by Abida Parveen sahiba, and the introduction of the song with the couplet by Hafiz..... Just uproots from this world..... And transports to a world of Ishq e Haqiqi..... Be khatar kood Para aatish e Namrood men ishq, aql he mehve tamashaey lab e baam abhi...... Ishq e Haqiqi ki had wahan se shuru hoti he jahan pe aql ki had khatm hoti he.....

abida is one of the best voices of our times.
i remember listening to her about 30 years ago and i think that she has come a long long way since then. the repertoire has changed to wonderful sufi poetry. she transports one to a higher plane if you listen carefully.

It also includes other poets like Hasrat Niyaz Shah, Hazrat Zaheen Shah, Asghar Gondvi, Hasrat Mohani, Jigar Moradabadi, etc. And also includes the intro couplets of Amir Khusrau and Rumi
