Ishq mein tere kohe gham, sar pe liya jo ho so ho
Aish'o nishaat'e zindagi, chhod diya jo ho so ho
Mountains of agony, I bear in Your love now, come what may
The luxuries of life, I forsake now, come what may
Mujh se mareez ko tabiib,haath too apna mat lagaa
Isko khuda pe chod de,bahr'e khuda jo ho so ho
In the fervor of love, the threads of being seared
Oh doctor, don’t touch a patient like me,
Leave it for God; for God's sake come what may
Aql ke madrase se uth, ishq ke maikade mein aa
Jaam'e fanaa'o bekhudi, ab to piya jo ho so ho
Leave the madrassa of reason, enter the tavern of love
From chalice of annihilation and self effacement, drink now, come what may
Hijr ki jo museebatein arz kiin uske rubaru
Naaz'o adaa se muskura kehne lagaa jo ho so ho
The pangs of separation, I bared before the Beloved
With a smile of pride and elegance said Hu, "let it be"
Hasti ke is saraab mein raat ki raat bas rahe
Subh'e adam huaa numoo, paaon uthaa jo ho so ho
In the mirage of this body, one dark night after another passes by
When finally the dawn arrives, be ready to step forward, come what may!
Dunia ke nek'o bad se kaam, humko niyaz kuch nahin
Aap se jo guzar gaya, use kia jo ho so ho
I care not about the good or bad of this world
One who has gone beyond the self, did what he did

meanings....with interpretation
Hasti ke is saraab mein raat ki raat bas rahe
Subh'e adam huaa numoo, paaon uthaa jo ho so ho
Adam in general means the end.It is antonym of Azal(eternity).specifically it is used for Qayamat (the judgement day).
Subah means morning.
So Subah'e adam will mean the morning of the judhement day.
The complete sher will thus can be translated as-
Only spent the night in the mirage of existance,
The morning of judgement day has started,put your step foward let what happens.
Mujh se mareez ko tabiib,haath too apna mat lagaa
Isko khuda pe chod de,bahr'e khuda jo ho so ho
Mareez = Patient,Tabib = Docter
Bahr'e Khuda = Khuda ke liye,For God's sake
So the literal translation will be:
Oh Docter, don’t touch the patient like me,
Leave it for the God; For god's sake let whatever happens
Hijr ki jo museebatein arz kiin uske rubaru
Naaz'o adaa se muskura kehne lagaa jo ho so ho
Hijr=Separation, museebatain=dificulties,problems
rubaru=infront of,Naaz'o adaa=pride & elegance
When I expressed the difficulties of separation,
Smiling with pride & elegance he said-let whatever happens.

What a presentation...It's just awesome...the meaning of lyric just penetrates in to constitution of listener by this; whether they have musical background or literary background or not...such a great and marvelous presentation I never watch...Another amazing thing is that...just with two other one is for tana and another one is on percussion unbelievable...just it is the confidence of this great qawwal and his school of learning...From Nusrat saab to recent times qawwali mastros like Fareed Ayaaz saab I never listen such a great presentation....I prostrate in front of his feet...

Quarter to 3 AM. Discovered this heavenly piece.
Wah, going from shair to related shair across Ghazals and poets and eras. Seamlessly threading together poets from ghalib to niaz to rumi to jigar. Such skill, such zauq!
Thank you for including such articulate and poignant translations. The translation always captures the essence of the poetry and makes so much more accessible, especially to south asians from my generation, whose understanding of the Urdu language is not as nuanced as it should be.

Wow..I just have fallen in love ..this style of vocals have deep impact in my soul..I have listened Qawali from various ustads but this voice has some roohani asar which I only felt in nusrats voice..the classical touch and the subtle and fine Sur which goes perfectly with words.. I couldn't understood for a while this voice is really coming out of his mouth..hats off to ur effort to finding out these gems of music to us..thnks

In shairy there is Ishq-e-Haqeeqa (Allah and religious) and Ishq-e-Majaazee (love between humans) and the beauty of Shairy is that sometimes it can be interpreted either way. So apply the first few Ashaar of this ghazal to someone who cares about you or you care about her: Meray Yaar Tu Salaamat teray dum say har khushi hai….

@@maaz87 I know Indian Sub continent is called that for a reason and its influence goes beyond the sub-continent anyway. For clarity my heritage isn't from the cow belt as you call it. I'm Gujarati and 2nd generation diaspora but I haven't forgotten my heritage and being abroad has broadened my outlook.
