Best blues song EVAH! There's 1000s of versions of the blues. That's the beat you recognize. The washing clothes thing, no, women were expected to wash the clothes. Basically, be the domestic servant to their man. This genius is saying he doesn't want her to do a damn thing. He will do it FOR HER. That was HUGE back in the day. Imagine how many ladies threw themselves at these 2 fine ass, blue eyed, musically gifted KINGS! OK? Ok.

@stellamartinez6636 Girl, let me tell you... I get into the music. It can cure any mood, change your mind, change your aura, make you fall in love, comfort your soul, take you back in time, it can fire you up, and can get you in The Mood, it can give you hope and courage, it can calm you down. It can lower your pulse, help you and your body to self heal, even! Why do angels sing? Because it's divine magic. Created by a power greater than us all. But we got the gift. And what a gift!

Great reaction!! For more Righteous Brothers, I suggest live versions of "Summertime" (Bobby solo), "What'd I Say" with Andy Williams, their cover of "Bring It on Home to Me," and "Just Once in My Life." Bill and Bobby were...something else. Whew. :)

This is the Righteous Brothers' cover of a song Muddy Waters released in 1954. I believe Etta James released a version in the early 60s. I had the same reaction the first time I heard this song. Like, what? All he wants to do is wash my clothes, cook my bread and make love to me? Hmm... OK! 😊

Sweetie, I'm 69 years old and I never knew any man that wanted to do laundry if a woman could do it for him. However, this song, I'm sure didn't get any airplay. They were very strict about that for most of the 1960s. But even though I'm 69, my heart goes pitter pat when I listen to this song...it's so sexy and raw!

I'm also in my late 60's. But I was mostly raised by my stepdad. He washed the clothes, food shopped, made dinner, got me up for school in the morning. I learned laundering as a teenager going with him to the laundromat & helping to fold clothes. My 1960s were all filled with him doing domestic chores as well as running a small business. Mom worked nights, slept mornings, and stayed home weekends while he took my little brother & me crabbing & fishing every Sunday morning.

Late to the party, but wanted to say a couple things. (Besides loving your reaction & also saying hello to a fellow Towson student):
First, my stepdad was one of these men. I was a child and teenager in the 1960s, so my memories go back a ways, but my stepdad did the laundry and most of the family cooking. Also took me and brother out in a rowboat on summer Sunday mornings fishing & crabbing near the Chesapeake. Once there were such men.
Second, to those fellas considering stable relationships today, nothing seals the deal and captures a girl's loyalty like making her life easier. You want a joyful partner in bed, then make her life easier everywhere else. When you treat her like a queen, like you are PRIVILEGED for her to ALLOW you into her life, you will have all you need in life. So pick up a broom, get busy in the kitchen, volunteer for laundry duty, ask what she wants from you. This is the secret to a happy life.

I'm late to arriving to this one so I apologise. I love your reaction, though! There's so much to say!
There are still some men who have no problem doing things for their partner. I'm one of them. My wife has a hard day at work and I've been home, I'm filling her a bath to relax in, a glass of wine and her favourite book to read while she comes down. Meanwhile, I'm making dinner so she has no worries. That's what love is supposed to be about.
The song, oh yeah, the song! That progression you first heard and recognised is common in Blues, though it never gets tired.
It's performing songs like this one that earned the Righteous Brothers their name, given by black Marines who had to tell them they and their music was "righteous, brothers!". Their sound was referred to as Blue Eyed Soul because few white singers can get this amount of soul in our voices. We're all equals but their are subtle differences and the tone of our voices is one of them. The Righteous Brothers were one of many acts who proved that music knows no colour.
The song was written by the great Willie Dixon, who wrote hundreds of fantastic songs for a multitude of artists, mainly for those who recorded for the Chess Records label. The original was done by Muddy Waters, a legend in what became known as Chicago Blues. Dozens of other versions have been recorded, including Etta James (check out I'd Rather Go Blind or At Last - man, that lady could wring every emotion out of her voice!) and even The Rolling Stones.
Until The Beatles broke open the doors and the British Invasion began, the Blues and even R&B were almost strictly considered to be black music. UK groups like The Rolling Stones, The Animals, The Kinks, The Who and many more pushed Blues into the front of the spotlight and brought so many of the great old Blues performers the fame they rightfully deserved. It also paved the way for acts like The Righteous Brothers to find success with songs like this as the Blues was now seen as the building block of Rock 'n' Roll that it always was.
Great music is great music, no matter who makes it. ♥
I look forward to seeing more from you!

That's a standard blues beat. Have you reacted to "Bad to the Bone" by George Thorogood? If not, you should! One of my all time favorite songs. Other places where you might have heard this song, or this particular beat, include your mother or grandmother. The song was written by Willie Dixon around 1954 and first recorded by Muddy Waters. I also like Etta James' version. A group called Foghat did an uptempo version that was very popular, too.

HI VALENCIA, THE LYRICS WERE SO APPROPRIATE AND THE MESSAGE NEEDED TO BE GIVEN OUT TO MALES WHO WERE NOT RERAL MEN, BUT MERELY BOYS.
AS A GENUINE "BORN AGAIN" CHRISTIAN MAN, ALL THAT WAS STATED IS COMMON PRACTICE FOR ME AS THE UNDERLYING POINT BEING "HOW WOULD JESUS TREAT A WOMAN".
YOU KNOW VALENCIA IN MATTHEW 7:12, JESUS SAID "DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE OTHERS DO UNTO YOU".
THEREFORE, HOW MUCH MORE FOR A MAN TO PRACTICALLY SHOW HIS LOVE FOR HIS WOMAN !!! TOO MANY PEOPLE THESE DAYS ARE SELF CENTRED. THEY LACK EMPATHY.

You got a kick out of washing clothes... but it is even more of a statement given the time it was sung since washing clothes back then was a more involved process than today where you simply put them in a washer and then into a dryer. ;)
