I believe there is one which is operational at the Tillamook Air Museum in Oregon. I met the owner, at least I think he was the owner, and clearly a serious and well off enthusiast pilot. Do a web search. They are moving their operation to Madras, Oregon (drier climate), but it will be a focal point for collectors of means.
Hello everyone sorry about the music working on a new documentary with the Neptune 273 Sub Hunter for this year have been ill the past few years diabetes problems sourcing my footage to recut the video have produced a dvd on the neptune now available through jacaranda films media kind regards Robert Producer
Small world! My dad worked on the avionics for the P2V, S2Fs out of Whidbey in the late 50's and early 60's. Seeing it brings back lots of great memories. Wish I could hear those radials without the guitar... :-p
Is there a slightly different model with a "deeper" bulge underneath? The one I saw at Tillamook had a longer under-hull bulge, but everything else looked the same, including the nose and the huge 2000 HP engines.
normally the Jets are not used on patrol missions because of their high fuel consumption. (crews called them "High speed inflight defuelers") the jets are used on takeoff and in emergencies when more power is required. (to get away from enemys faster, or on an engine failure)
Thanks mate👍🇳🇿
Brings back great memories as a flying crew member out of Brunswick Maine back in 1968, 1969. Loved flying the nose position.
VP 56?
Ships company Operations Maintenance Division - we had 2 P-2's (ex VP-23) along with an HU-16 - a US-2B 2 UH-34's and a C-117D
Flew in one of these in Puerto Rico and Cuba in the 60's with VP-18. Really crowded inside.
VC-8 Roos. Rds. PR 1970-'72. Night flights riding bow over water cannot be described in mere words.
my dad was in patrol squadron 2 Whidbey island 1958, than off to Iwakuni Japan 58-59 part of crew # 8 co pilot and also survival officer.
Love the sound, air crew on LA 2 VP 5. 1964-1966

Nothing wrong with the music, unless you're a doper.
My old man flew in 273 out of Townsville in the 70s.
VP-17 out of Whidbey Island Washington. 1964-1966.

beautiful plane.
@Tillerman56 agree what we want is engine sounds not " hold music" for some bank !
No music, only Wright R-3350 noise :(
The music ruins the great video.
Well said!
I would prefer to hear the machine.

3500 hp
Very nice, but I woulda found some more music. Still liked it.
Too bad music ruined great sound.
@tobagotb10 Uhhhh, those are CW-3350's on the Neptune. Not dissing the Prat's mind you . And once again a good video fucked up by music.
Do they use the jet engines at all?

Clip but twitch the music
The music here is more appropriate for a truck show than an air show. Let's hear the real "round engine music", please! Just "plane" irritating!
Does this thing even have a rudder.
Don't know why they have to ruin these videos with music. I want to hear the sounds of the plane, video is of the aircraft, not a musical.
I have two "flight ready" neptune engines available for purchase. Are there any specialist websites that you could point me toward? thanks
Bumpkin music doesn't mix with airplane videos dude.
@SgtGrant23 sorry sgt grant-- you must be an alien to hear engines over the music its one hell of a distraction -- still nice vid !
We need to hear engine sounds, not some hillbilly music...
i hate music with aviation videos.
CUT the guitar strings. SHOOT the drums. Lemme listen to the 3350's.
Beautiful aircraft; horrible music.
Pleeeeeeease ditch the music.
music is ok just not when the radials are singing !
Another video ruined by stupid music. Arrhhhh.
