Thanks mate really appreciate it. For those ppl who cant get a 10mm hex drive I managed to do it with a 10mm allen key, mine was done up really tight but there is about 30 degrees of movement you can get on the long side for extra leverage you'll just need to whack it with a bar since moving an arm down there with force is near impossible.
Hi Jeff. last weekend we purchased a used 2007 T31, 2.0dci manual and was looking at performing the oil changes this weekend for gearbox, diff and transfer case. Your video has been a great source of inspiration and very good guidance. Keep it going mate and good luck on your youtube venture.
Hey mate just to let you know there is a fill plug for manual box on the left side of the car, so with wheel removed and looking in, it is located on left side of wheel arch. You need to pop out wheel arch cover and it's right in front of you. It is level with the midpoint of the CV axle at the gear box end. It is a side plug so with car level you fill until you can see oil just starting to come out of filler, obviously using this plug you can't overfill as it just spills out. Good Video just the same. I have workshop manual in pdf for engine and gearbox if you want to drop an email address here.
@@wildboby1 Give me a couple of days mate and I will dig it out. It's on a spare hard drive or pen drive somewhere. I got a bust leg at the moment so I'm not at my office. If you don't hear in few days give me another reminder on here. I will have to upload to a cloud and you can download from there as too big for email.
Hey Jeff! Great video, so helpful!! Anyone knows how many washers and which kind of washers do I need for these changes? I saw Jeff used two different types and now sure how many of which kind to order.
Hey Jeff, i own a Nissan Xtrail M9R automatic Diesel 2.0l where could be the gear box opening because its not in the exact place you have directed like this.
Ive had the best look online that i could and cannot find a gearbox with a different fill location. In my video it was to the RHS of the hose with the rub mark.
My T31 has a notchy manual gearbox too, especially 1st & 2nd gear, also exacerbated in the cold weather. I changed the fluid to Redline MT90 but it has made absolutely no difference at all. Seems to be slowly getting worse, only 7 years old now with low 105,000km's. Shame really, it's been such a great car otherwise over the last 3 years that I've owned it.
You have the exact issue as mine. Lots of city driving. The syncro between 1st and 2nd gear. will cost about $1k to fix. They don't rebuild gearbox's completely now a days.
Hi Jeff, great video and very detailed. Will carry out an oil change on my T31 this week following your instructions. Just want to know however if it solved your crunching gear change problem?
The gear change is worn syncro. 195k of city driving made first to second crunch. Winter it becomes more obvious. On hot summer day it is barely noticable.
@@jeffprest4588 Hi again Jeff. I followed your instructions for the oil change and all went well. Saved me a lot of time finding the correct filler positions. I also found out that you could remove the top filler bolt for the gearbox by removing the front left hand wheel and getting access directly without using the extra long extension rods on the wrench. May save you some time next oil change. I too have a problem with the gear change when cold and have done about 95,000 miles so I guess it is the syncro like you said.
This saved me a huge learning curve on the location of the fill and drain plugs plus I copied your technique. Many thanks.
This is by far the best video on T31 transmission and diff oil change on RUclips. Hats off to you. Thanks.

Extraordinary well done mate! It's gonna be a walk in the park for me to change the oils. Thanks for pioneering!!
A great and usefull video. Enabled me to made sure I'd got every thing required before hand to do the job. Thanks Jeff
thanks for the vid Jeff, planning on changing my gear oil on my T31, I know where to start now. Cheers mate!
Great video, thank you for doing a real good tutorial! Just bought a pre-used T31 M9R-Engine. This saved me a ton if work. I'll now get right to it!
bloody legend Jeff!!!... about to do do this on my exy...cheers mate
Muchas gracias, llevaba años detras de un video como este. MUCHAS GRACIAS!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the tutorial.
Hi mate. is the sump of this gearbox facing the front?
Thanks mate. Great help!!!
Well done, thanks!
Great video. thank mate. How did it drive after the oil changes?
A little better but problem seems to be common.
Is this the 4wd 2.5lt manual? Thanks

What about the automatic one , not cvt ?
Any idea how to change the spider gears in the rear differential without removing the entire assembly?
Can you use the same oil on the transfer / diff as on the gearbox

Is it absolutely necessary to replace the transfer & diff oil when changing the qearbox oil?
Nope, I just did the lot because that only cost $20.00 for the oil
changed gearbox oil but having same problem. Won't change into gear when motor running? Any ideas what might be causing that problem?
Clutch problem
I've got a T31 2009 Petrol. Is it the same process ?
Im not sure. Watch my vid while looking through your engine bay. I suspect it may be different. Let me know result. Will be interesting.
What I know there is an overflow nut on the side for Nissan xtrail. But for the T31 not sure if it has one. I own T30.
hey mate Where the Gear box drain bolt
The gearbox drain is shown at 8min 47 secs into vid. After tackling the grarbox i do the transfer case.
