I’m from Europe and yes kids as young as 3,4 are identifying themselves as the opposite gender as they were born as. We know babies that young don’t even understand what they’re so the parents are encouraging that mindset and dressing them in dresses when they’re boys. There’s a famous case in the UK in which a 4 year old was taken away from his parents because the school and social workers decided that the little boy saw himself as a girl and therefore the parents were not encouraging his way. 4 years old don’t know or understand what’s going on so obviously society wants to use these children as experimental and I think that’s child abused!

Jazz’s story is like this because of the copious amounts of media attention and hate she got. She rejoices in the fact she transitioned how she did to this day, the problem came from the media coverage of it. I remember myself going though posts of her when her show was still airing and very popular and it was filled with hate, no less to mention the hate she received from right-wing personas. I agree with Neyo. Nowadays as soon as you are not agreeing, you are assumed to be disagreeing. I like how he didn't walk on eggshells or tip toe around his words. He spoke very precise in what he feels. Not everybody is going to be extra sensitive to those who live in between the world of gay and straight people. Kids have, will have and will continue to make decisions. But those about life choices for the long haul at such a young age is coerced by their parents or guardians or by what they see out in the world.

It's also a possibility his kids have already asked him questions regarding this topic. Regarding gender, as a child, I also only understood it as male and female. Look, I can’t speak on the UK, but here in the US, you can’t just decide you want a sex change and go in and have it right away, there is a long process that they go through, and that’s as adults, with children under the age of 18, this just doesn’t happen. Now, if you are talking about hormone therapy/blockers, before the age of 18, there is a lengthy process to be done then too. But at the end of the day, this is these children, their parents, and doctors conversations and decisions to be had, not the government or strangers, or pop stars. You don’t want this for your children and want to go a different route if this situation comes up, then fine. But let’s stop bashing parents who are going through the proper avenues to do what they feel is right for their children/families. And also, as a black man, it wasn’t that long ago that it was considered naturally and biblically wrong for races to mix, blacks to be free, and a slew of other indignities that POC had to fight for just to LIVE. Let people live their lives and you live yours, as long as it’s not hurting you or the people involved.

As somebody who is gay I can definitely confirm that the gay community is definitely very much intolerant and also judgmental especially of each other. A classic example being that I'm not into giving or receiving anal sex and a lot of gay guys believe that if you either don't give or receive anal sex then you don't belong in the gay community and you're not worthy of being in a relationship. I've had a guy tell me that I'm not gay because I choose not to do anal sex either giving it or receiving it. Well I guess I'm not gay then if that's how it's gonna be. Well, I don’t agree with most of what Ne-yo said. The only thing I did agree with, was that a lot of parents want to be their kids friends and not their parent, you can have a healthy dose of both, but parenting is the primary responsibility. That being said, as a black man, I absolutely HATE when people (and especially my black peoples) use the same tropes and phrases to disenfranchise a group of marginalized peoples. Making statements like “…you can call yourself a goldfish, but don’t ask me to call you that…” is just wrong!!! It wasn’t that long ago black men were not look at as or referred to as “Men” by the white majority, or our women as “Women” or all of us as even “humans”. We as a people need to check the things we say about others, and give PEOPLE the respect and grace we want too. Let people live their lives to their fullest, not to what we think they should live it as because it makes us uncomfortable or because of our own personal beliefs. If they are not hurting you or yours, let people live their lives the way they want to, and without hostility or aggression.
I agree fully with you. As a Finn I think our cultures are somewhat different but some basic things are the same. Finland has black minorities but mostly Muslims from Africa, and naturally people from all over Europe. It's sometime difficult to navigate with all the different cultural backgrounds but if you try it can be done😄 Sexual minorities is not an issue here really - I'm glad that our culture is very excepting for the mos part. Race and sexuality may be two different subjects, but the end results are the same. I can agree with Neo that two and three and four and five years old is much too young of an age to talk about transitioning. However there is a difference between being two and three and four and five years old versus being 12 years old. I believe that if a kid wants to transition that there needs to be a serious conversation happening to make sure that this is something that the kid truly wants Because what if later on down the line the kid ends up not liking it and wants to reverse it? I think what Neo is missing and other people are missing and it's based out of ignorance, what they're missing is that kids aren't making the decisions completely by themselves. Kids have to go through massive amounts of therapy and they're working with a team of doctors and other professionals along with the parents. I say if the kid wants to transition, try something that is at least reversible so that if the kid changes their mind they can go back to what they were. There is a difference in allowing kids to be who they want to be and gender modification in kids. Most kids aren't mature enough to know when and how to bathe themselves, much less to choose a different gender. Parents are there to guide and protect their kids--even if it's from their own ignorance.

I'm older than him, and the existence of other genders in various cultures has always been here (specifically Indian), or hermaphrodites. HE may not have known that, but then that's HIS bubble. Being a parent is difficult, but if you love your child unconditionally, you protect them, and assist them with the necessary survival, growth and mental help needed. I personally feel a child should pass puberty before making such a permanent decision about their bodies but that's just me. I also find interesting that he only used a boy as his example. There is no such thing as true hermaphroditism. Humans can have atypical sexual development, which is called being "intersex." It is fairly rare, and there are a lot of different ways sexual development can be atypical. Being intersex is not a third gender or third sex. It's a disorder of sexual development. It's interesting how we can separate males from females when describing every other species on the planet, but when it comes to human animals, it's suddenly "complicated."

This is a very sensitive topic. However, people need to learn how to separate logic and emotion. I really enjoy your channel @Graeme ONeil, but you are also a cisgender male (regardless of sexual orientation). Therefore, how are you an expert on trans issues? All Ne-Yo did was give his opinion, just like everyone does on a regular basis. You claim it's none of his business, but did you forget Ne-Yo has children? It's also a possibility his kids have already asked him questions regarding this topic. Regarding gender, as a child, I also only understood it as male and female. Moreover, Ne-Yo never made any remote reference to "going back into the closet". That's off topic because we are talking about gender and not sexuality. I understood the goldfish comment, because there are a lot of clowns on social media. I can't take anyone seriously who now identifies as a plant, frog, bear, air, etc. I don't have the data at the moment, some people have done reverse surgery after transitioning. Look, I can’t speak on the UK, but here in the US, you can’t just decide you want a sex change and go in and have it right away, there is a long process that they go through, and that’s as adults, with children under the age of 18, this just doesn’t happen. Now, if you are talking about hormone therapy/blockers, before the age of 18, there is a lengthy process to be done then too. But at the end of the day, this is these children, their parents, and doctors conversations and decisions to be had, not the government or strangers, or pop stars. You don’t want this for your children and want to go a different route if this situation comes up, then fine. But let’s stop bashing parents who are going through the proper avenues to do what they feel is right for their children/families. And also, as a black man, it wasn’t that long ago that it was considered naturally and biblically wrong for races to mix, blacks to be free, and a slew of other indignities that POC had to fight for just to LIVE. Let people live their lives and you live yours, as long as it’s not hurting you or the people involved.

As somebody who is gay I can definitely confirm that the gay community is definitely very much intolerant and also judgmental especially of each other. A classic example being that I'm not into giving or receiving anal sex and a lot of gay guys believe that if you either don't give or receive anal sex then you don't belong in the gay community and you're not worthy of being in a relationship. I've had a guy tell me that I'm not gay because I choose not to do anal sex either giving it or receiving it. Well I guess I'm not gay then if that's how it's gonna be. Why would I want to surround myself with that type of energy anyway. whatever happened to Les is more. I think anal sex is absolutely disgusting and it reminds you of being in prison. Well, I don’t agree with most of what Ne-yo said. The only thing I did agree with, was that a lot of parents want to be their kids friends and not their parent, you can have a healthy dose of both, but parenting is the primary responsibility. That being said, as a black man, I absolutely HATE when people (and especially my black peoples) use the same tropes and phrases to disenfranchise a group of marginalized peoples. Making statements like “…you can call yourself a goldfish, but don’t ask me to call you that…” is just wrong!!! It wasn’t that long ago black men were not look at as or referred to as “Men” by the white majority, or our women as “Women” or all of us as even “humans”. We as a people need to check the things we say about others, and give PEOPLE the respect and grace we want too. Let people live their lives to their fullest, not to what we think they should live it as because it makes us uncomfortable or because of our own personal beliefs. If they are not hurting you or yours, let people live their lives the way they want to, and without hostility or aggression.
I agree fully with you. As a Finn I think our cultures are somewhat different but some basic things are the same. Finland has black minorities but mostly Muslims from Africa, and naturally people from all over Europe. It's sometime difficult to navigate with all the different cultural backgrounds but if you try it can be done😄 Sexual minorities is not an issue here really - I'm glad that our culture is very excepting for the mos part. ETA: I tried to say that while countries are different, we are much the same. I hope I didn't offend anyone since it seems quite easy to offend absolutely everyone.
Respectfully, I think that you're drawing parallels between two very different topics coming from two very different intentions. Ne-Yo has never sought to demean, control or hate on "trans people," which is a loaded term in the first place. If pushing people toward irreversible and un-necessary surgery and and drug addiction isn't hateful and anti - people with gender dysphoria, I don't know what is.

Race and sexuality may be two different subjects, but the end results are the same. Also, no one has ever forced a child or an adult to get the permanent surgery, or take drugs for the purpose of switching genders. I can agree with Neo that two and three and four and five years old is much too young of an age to talk about transitioning. However there is a difference between being two and three and four and five years old versus being 12 years old. I believe that if a kid wants to transition that there needs to be a serious conversation happening to make sure that this is something that the kid truly wants Because what if later on down the line the kid ends up not liking it and wants to reverse it? I think what Neo is missing and other people are missing and it's based out of ignorance, what they're missing is that kids aren't making the decisions completely by themselves. Kids have to go through massive amounts of therapy and they're working with a team of doctors and other professionals along with the parents. I say if the kid wants to transition, try something that is at least reversible so that if the kid changes their mind they can go back to what they were. I can't believe I'm hearing stories of people so called detransitioning. How do you detransition? How do you undo something that you don't like once you've removed certain body parts? I think the goldfish remark was him showing his ignorance and I believe he had a lapse in judgment with that one. other than that I can see his point and he's definitely a lot more reasonable compared to most people in the black community. there are people in the black and brown community that are just straight up anti-LGBT.
