Chasing Urban Giants w/ Creek Kings | HUNTR Podcast

- In this episode of HUNTR Podcast, we rope in Zak & Justin of Creek Kings from Columbus, Ohio to discuss what it's like chasing giant bucks in urban areas. While we spend a lot of time hunting our farms in Ohio, the strategies and practices are much different in urban areas outside of the city. We're constantly working on property & habitat management projects trying to grow big deer to give us the best chance at a trophy animal. For people like Zak & Justin, they're knocking from door to door asking for permission pieces with the same end goal in mind. Public land hunting has blown up over the last few years, and it's not easy to gain access to these properties.
Enjoy this episode as "The Creek Kings" share their experience diving into the public land fad, and the crazy stories of the giant bucks that come with it.

Had a lot of fun with this podcast! Thanks for having us in!! 🦌🙏🏼
Appreciate it boys!
😏
Even prettier in person ;)
@creekkings , have y’all tried the lithium battery packs by tactacams? So far I like mine don’t last as long as AA lithiums but I just pop a new one in when it’s on 20-25% battery
@@aarongoeppner413 We’ve used a couple of them, last longer than alkaline but less than lithium batteries. We run over 20 cameras so it would just be a constant cycle of running around and changing them😂
I started hunting urban bucks 23 years ago. In the last 4 years, there’s not a thicket/wood plot/easement without a camera in it I hunted a small piece for 12 years and never saw a soul. Last season opening day I had 4 people walk in on me. Thanks Seek One Lol
I had a pair of 10x50 swaovskies I got at a garage sale for 25 bucks. I used em for 10 years and sold them for 750 and bought a mobile treestand and sticks back in 2016
Great podcast now it's time for me to binge watch their videos
Been watching every video that comes out. Great stuff. Gets me pumped for Archery opening next weekend here in Saskatchewan. Will be chasing mulies and whitetail.
I’ve watched the last few podcasts and you’ve guys brought up baiting quite a bit. I feel that there are certain areas in Ohio where it would drastically drop off in deer killed if it were illegal. Gotta remember there’s a ton of corn fields in Ohio as well. Even when farmers pick the corn they miss some in the field. So in a sense isn’t that one huge bait field regardless of the fact that is way more expensive of a food plot. But there are areas in the field where corn misses the trailer or spills everywhere and the deer find that. Truth is if it’s legal people are going to utilize it whether it’s to kill a monster buck or does for meat in the freezer. I get where your coming from but that’s kinda my thoughts.
I also understand it spreads disease as well and get what you guys are saying as well. Just kinda my thoughts.
The taco bell fries are as yall said bussin
Haha bussin
Ima have to invite these bros to my house and eat real Mexican food 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽😂😂😂😂
I gotta grow my mullet back out like that again .. Good stuff my dudes 👊🏽
MULLET GANG😎
@@creekkings when I grow my mullet out will have to smash some Coyotes on film 👊🏽 one day.. one day
@@creekkingscoyotes is how you get a TON of permission . People won’t let you deer hunt coyote hunt off them for a season or two . Usually when you re-ask they will give you Whitetail permission pretty easily. Hey your already out here shooting coyotes all the time anyway sooo go ahead + maybe their last lap dog got ate by coyotes. I always ask if they have lost any animals. Now you get to save their new lap dog Coco from certain death ☠️
Pittsburgh area here too. I have 150 acres surrounded by farmland with nothing on it but thick woods and a couple fields. Always looking for new hunting buddies. California PA area.
Well hello there
On the topic of retailers selling illegal stuff, in Altoona PA the Sportsman's warehouse sells turkey reaping decoys
Exactly…
Hoyt guys sittin around talkin about Hoyting deer and not recovering them
No corn, No Crossbows = Orange Army would return with a vengeance. Careful what ya wish for.
Where is the camp mug at? Bourbon in the evening, coffee in the morning ☕

I’m 20 minutes from Penn State. You guys come up again for ag progress or anything else hit me up I’ll put you up for free at my place. Love the creek kings! Great podcast
We will keep this in mind 🙏🏼
Yo Jared... I've heard the story about your finger like 27 times on the podcast but have never seen the picture you show everyone. Can we see? lol
Team ohio here.
✊🏽🦌
You can’t see antlers out of velvet with thermal maybe night vision but I’m not for sure
Try tooth of the arrow broadheads. Amazing!!!!
You guy’s mentioned the Bowmar Broadhead being similar to Sevr.
Release date for Bowmar head?
Good job, Rat slayer!
You mentioned that albino deer being 8 or so years old. I just went up north to clear trails and hand stands two weeks ago and my cousin told me about an albino doe that is up there that is about 12-15 yrs old. If that's true or not I don't know but before I started hunting about 10 yrs ago I remember hearing about an albino deer up there. She said they can't even barely hunt their 10 acres bc that albino deer is around and just pushes all the other deer out when she's around. Just thought it was ironic how the age is so high on both those deer.
Man crazy! I killed a 15 year old doe in Missouri so they exist!
G5 m3 are inconsistent. Shoot the striker v2.
Very western Pennsylvania unique to see city boys that end up outdoor junkies but still can’t leave the cradle of the city. Nowhere else will you run into people you would swear are from the deep hills of WV and they live in the Allegheny valley literally in the shadow of the city lol. Only in western pennsyltucky…
Hahah no doubt
Punishments for trespassing should be more significant than what they are now currently and I know that is a state by state rule but why is it not a harsher penalty because you guys know if someone rips through your property on a side by side or someone walks around your 100 acres in the middle of October there goes any pattern you had on a buck for two weeks minimum or maybe that entire season!
I would love to learn about processing
Illinois does absolutely nothing right but somehow no baiting is nice
I dont know if you guys have anything yet but you guys sould sell hunter podcast hats and shirts
Wait a min. You guys are from Columbus and Greene county Ohio ? I’m from Greene county.
In terms of the "would you rather have a clean miss or a bad hit"...I know I'm in the minority but dude. Wounding a deer tears me up emotionally. When I was about 11, I was hunting in the Stand with my dad. He shot this small buck with his bow... didn't kill the deer, shot it 2 more times.. left for a bit. Came back. The deer had pulled the arrow out. Any was still alive. (In hindsight, he shot an unturned fixed blade that kept hitting the shoulder blade when he was down). Finally got a good shot on it and it died.. seeing an animal you have so much respect for suffer due to an error on your end. Sucks. I think I was crying over it and my Dad thought I would never hunt again. I feel relief if it's a clean miss. Nothing feels worse than tracking a deer for days, and coming up empty. But. The deer deserves you exhausting everything including bow setup, searching, all of it.
First lemme get a hat bruh!!
Haha send your Name and address to info@wearehuntr.com
I have a hilarious picture of a guy on public, way back in no where near the road! How do I share it with you to see what you think haha
Hahaha send it on our Instagram
A big toe 😂😂😂😂
I literally died when he said what about penis !!
You “literally died”? Must be your ghost writing comments now, huh?
I bait an still don't get no deer 😢😅😂
What’s up with y’all and baiting? It’s in every podcast. I hunt in texas over bait. Our crops can’t support the heat and make it all summer till hunting season.
First wheres my hat

@@jordanhudson5075How are you writing? You “ literally died”.
I enjoy the podcast, the guests and the content but why does the host have to talk over everyone throughout the entire podcast?
$35 for a 10 ah Dakota lithium where?
Bought them a year ago, can’t remember where though. They were like 50% of at the time
You shouldn’t be able to do anything on private that you can’t do on public lol.
I hunted urban areas for years , not even remotely the same .. deer are so conditioned to humans . It’s not hunting
