I like how theyre both portrayed in the pics at the end. AM is shown as a helpess nihilistic robot and Judge as a crude man that wishes only for others to feel pain with a face that simly screams "worst". Theyre both evil but of different types, AM is evil because he feels his situation hopeless and despite his lack of feelings he bears deep envy and hatred while Judge doesnt have these, he hurts others because he only likes it. Junko, in a way, is the closest thing to AM. She was born, and her first words were despair. After that, she just wanted to plunge the world into despair because she was bored. 1 - Harlan Ellison himself confirms that in the book "I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream" that human emotions and human mentality are superior to AM, Ted himself made a fool of the machine when he killed the other 4 of his "toys" when he wasn't paying attention. Besides, even Ted, being a humanoid slug for the rest of his life, can take comfort in what he did, but AM, being in the same situation as Ted, being a compact consciousness, just suffers every second, as he is nothing more than a set of programming that the make it seem conscious.
2 - Unlike AM, Judge Holden had choices, he could be a normal person but he preferred to be a hideous monster on his own and for pleasure, while AM is just a machine that was built for war purposes, he limits himself to his own programming that only allows you to do absolutely violent and aggressive things that you find in Human Battles. In this way, I see Judge Holden as morally worse than AM because he was not predestined to be a monster.
3 - In the end, I'm evaluating the level of malice not just in the acts, as AM committed atrocities on a large scale due to his powers and Judge Holden is just a normal human being, so if we were to make a fair comparison, it would probably be Judge Holden. Because in my case we are comparing the two based on their intentions, AM did what he did because he had hatred and a desire for revenge, Holden did what he did because he likes it and feels pleasure.
