Well took three years. I have now built primed and base coated the knight I promised my fiancé (who bought me the kit a few days after this came out) I would complete when I had learned enough and practiced enough for me to be happy with my work. Thank you Miniac. A real journey !
The amount that I've been BINGING you and Scott the past week or so, my list of ideas is exploding and so is my shopping list of supplies. I love seeing you guys encouraging each other. And I mean BINGING, too. Like 8 or more hours of content a day just between your two channels.
At the beginning I kept thinking....did this guy actually score a voice over from Cate Blanchett? Dude seriously the person you got to do the VO work is incredible. Oh and the mini looks good too and stuff lol.
I found that added a gloss coat helped immensely for both adding decals, and oil washes. The oil wash applied through an airbrush is called a filter, at least in model railroading terms. ^_^
This captured the anxiety of a casual commission painter, so fking well. They pile up until you feel like you’re drowning. To witness you crawl out from that pit and walk free is truly inspiring. Thank you for this glimpse of hope!
Miniac - Here is a new, magnetic painting handle I'm using.... 25:26 - Miniac is making sure that painting handle stays 'fingerprint free' by holding the model he's painting.

I love how well this video has been made, I always have it in the background when I paint, and has inspired me to spend my 14th bday money to make a knight of my own! Thanks Scott!
Fuuuuuuuu- is right, Scott. Not because of the chest scroll, but because this is EPIC in every way. Whoa! Whoa!! WHOA!!! So impressive. The age of Miniac is upon us!

Just a tip. You can make laser burn holes in the models with a soldering iron with a small tip. Just get it hot push it through and it will cut the hole while making a "melty" ridge along the outer surface giving it more depth.
Just finished the video……..standing ovation. That knight is hands down the dopest dope. You gave a ton of ideas and stuff I haven’t thought of. Thank you!
I feel like I should close my channel, there is just no way I can get anywhere near this level of professional video production. I feel like I'm watching something on Netflix! Awesome work on that knight too, I just love that conversion work.
I know this video is almost a year old now but I just happened to catch it today. I'm mostly into Star Trek and Star Wars ship modeling but I've watched a lot of RUclips modeling and painting videos and this is probably the most impressive work I've ever seen. Well done, sir. You are absolutely right to be proud of this.
A couple of tips for decals: They go down really well over a gloss surface, even for a matte finish, a common practice being to lay down a gloss coat or three before decaling, another coat before washes, then a few flat coats to flatten it down. Second, never, ever, EVER use Micro-set and Micro-sol with Tamiya decals, they really don't agree (I'm speaking from experience as an aircraft model-maker).
If you don't have an airbrush, buy an airbrush. I've just started using mine and it is a treat. Even priming becomes a heavenly experience. The paint goes on so thin, even when you think you've overdone it. Say goodbye to patchy priming.
Well I don’t have any Dr Pepper in my house, will 2 liters of coffee do? Also this is definitely one of the best videos I have seen on RUclips recently
Scott another great vid , I wish I had more money to do patron for you and as soon as I can get back to work I plan on doing just that. I hurt my back and am restricted to the floor, I'm now a rug. Being in this state now for 3 months waiting for surgery. I have been out of the hobby for over 20 years, so I needed to see what was new and changes to the hobby, and that lead me to finding you. Your insight and how you go over the subjects that you cover is excellent. Just wanted to say thank you for all you do your editing alone must be exhausting, with that being said your pride in your work shows. Best wishes and stay safe.
One trick a painter told me is to first use the base color when spraying onto a stencil. So if there is any micro gaps, the color being "leaked" is the same as the color on the base. You end up with an easier time of clean up.
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet,, but a tip for using guitar and bass string for ribbed cables: Twist it a bit counter coil direction with some pliers on either end and pull the solid core out of the center. The outer part is super slinky and bendable without the center wire. Also some of the thicker strings and bass strings have multiple windings for double the cables per string you pull apart.
If you do the wires on the gun again you should try twisting together thicker gauge 2 wires, you can use a drill chuck with the wires on one side and some flat pliers at the other end and twist it up, makes great barbed wire or cables and is sturdy yet pliable, great conversion man! I have a dominus I want to convert to chaos, these are some great ideas!

2 things coming from a 1:72 wwII plane modeler. 1) before applying decals, lay a light coat of clear acrylic varnish with a gloss, I use mopnglo or pledge clear coat (for floors) because its cheap and works (old modelers tip) or a paint brand name. 2) when painting a stencil, or a masked line, put a thin spray of the same color as the part on first, then paint the color of the stencil. Makes for very clean lines. share the knowledge!

One minor detail that adds that little extra is charring/powder residue around the tips of the barrels.
