Thanks for visiting the Salton Sea--my childhood stomping grounds! My father raced boats there and won trophies. We camped there as often as possible, and the grown-ups skied for days. We had to wear shoes to get into the water because the salt crystallized into sharp stalagmites along the sea bed. They were as sharp as razor blades. We had such fun in the late '50s and early '60s.
We use to go there in the 60’s with my grandparents. We had so much fun! We would swim and fish, skied. I remember Grandma always made sure we were well bathed to get the salt off of us before bed! It was so fun. Sad to think it’s all gone. I remember the sand from when I was a kid. Not like normal beach sand. Great memories!
As a teen living in southern California in the '70s, I remember some of the infomercials on TV showing the resorts on Salton Sea, people skiing and the celebrities who visited them...a lot of talk of "America's Riviera." Sad to see what it's become, though I still enjoy camping in the area.
Heyyyyy!!! Tanya and Dave! Love the video and loved seeing you on @That Crazy Disney Lady Live stream the other day! I’m happy to see you guys are still hitting the pavement and driving those miles traveling the States ❤ Til the next video 😊
Hi Tanya and Dave, 😢 What a place? It's SO SAD! As much as I always admire you two, well I'll leave this one alone! Please Be Safe and I'll Pray for The "Spirit of Protection" for the both of you and the kitties! 😻 I look forward to the next video! TO THE BEST COUPLE 👩❤️👨 IN THE WORLD! 🌎
13:15 for some reason, I feel like I could smell whatever it was too! Somebody call John Waters, we finally achieved Smell-o-Vision! Speaking of, if ya ever hit the east coast come do some camping here in Maryland at Assateague Island, home of some of the planet’s last wild horse populations!! Also a series of you guys doing the AT would be amazing!! Thanks for another awesome educational and light hearted video, I love watching your stuff when I’m really stressed or just need a break from the darker heavier content I watch 99.7% of the time! Happy traveling and cheers to yall and the kitties !
Hello from Bombay Beach! It was fun to meet you guys. Glad you enjoyed those patty melts (epic cheese pull!) Stop in and see us again sometime. Safe travels! Jimmy from the Ski Inn ✌️
That was an awesome looking meal. I bet if we ever come that direction 🤔we will be stopping.🥰 thanks so much for sharing Tanya and Dave. You guys are such a great inspiration.❤❤❤
Hey there Jimmy! So great meeting you and the staff at Ski Inn. Absolutely enjoyed those Patty Melts. Turn It Up World approved. Hope you’re doing awesome. Give your doggie a hug for us. God bless! ❤️🤘
Hi Jimmy!! Wow so this is where you are hiding out!! When are you coming back to RUclips we miss your beautiful photography and of course little Olive. Happy to see you met Tanya and Dave. They are such cool people aren't they? Take care Jimmy and keep popping up in videos, lol. Hugs.
Another great video. Thank you for sharing another part of the world but for ye two we would never see. Love you guys. Keep safe. Best wishes from Ireland 🇮🇪
Hi Tonja and Dave. What an interesting place but once you mentioned the " critters" I lost it! Ha ha especially Tarantulas. No, no, no!!!! I'm glad you're moving on!" Thanks for sharing all your great adventures! ❤❤
Hey there! Yeah, when we heard those tarantulas were there I had a little bit nervous reaction that they could get up inside the RV! LOL. Overall, we had a great time and thank you so much for watching. ❤️🤘🙏
A few years ago my son and DIL took me to that little town to listen and participate in a live radio show visiting from Arizona. It took place at that bar/restaurant on the back patio with maybe 100 show followers. I too have a dollar bill with our names on it at one of the booths. At that time there were several homes folks were living in full times. We enjoyed an epic sunset that evening then headed to our hotel in Palm Desert.
I camped at that campground in Dec 2014! The whole area looks so different in this video than when we were there. It smelled some but not as bad as it must now bc we spent one night there. Walking on the bones is kinda creepy and kinda cool. We actually rented a kayak and took it out on the lake and paddled around it which was really cool but definitely avoided getting in the water. It’s amazing how quickly it is changing.
It really is sad to see how desolate that area has become! We did however enjoy exploring and learning about the area. A lot can change in ten years! Thank you for watching! 🙏❤️
Been enjoying these videos from this area! Went on a trip a few years ago, going to a lot of the same places (Slab City, Salton Sea and Joshua Tree). Cool to see another perspective of it and just enjoy your videos generally. (Also, y'all are not exaggerating about the smell at the Salton Sea. Can burn your nose hairs right off, I swear!)
Been binge watching, unfortunately l'm bed bound at the moment. Love yer puddy cats, l have a house cat..Inky Pinky Poopie Pants" he's a Scottish fold..living here with me in a tiny bungalow in Scotland 🏴. I was wondering...do you have harnesses for your fur balls ? I have one for Inky, he likes a wee explore, but, only for a short time, he gets nervous..Also, l wonder if you have ever thought of buying one of those plastic bird feeders with suckers? You put peanuts in them, stick them to your windows, birds come down and your the cats will love it...just a wee thought. Anyway...most important thing of all..look after your health ❤
Back in 1962/63 I visited the area. I even went swimming once and I had so much salt on me, I had to take two showers. The water that feeds this lake is from the runoff of irrigation.
With a patty-melt you need to dip it in thousand island dressing. It's. My fav! Grilled onions always.... that looks so dang good and you both look great as always. ❤
There's kitschy and quirky.... and then there's just really, really sad. For me, this one falls in the really sad category. Don't think I'll ever visit there, myself.
Love the Pat’s shirt! From Boston and a fan my entire life - pre-Brady and post! lol. Awesome video as usual. Walk in peace and keep the videos coming!!
Salton Sea was an easy overnight stay in our motor coach as kids. We would take our boat out to fish. It was never a great place in the 70's but it was available. Seeing how it has receded and all the graffiti is really sad.
I'm hoping to hear a comparison between Slab City and Bombay Beach - I suppose one difference is the population - some at Slab, almost zero at BB. Without good water, the future of all animal life is limited. This is what drought does...
This place was so beautiful before people came to trash it. The ranger had to clean everything. The people that lost their mind and destroyed everything, she be cleaning up the mess that they started. They showed disrespect for this land.
It receded because the rich diverted the water and that is the result. It did not recede by man’s own hand. I believe they water was sent to Palm Springs, CA
Not only. Lately. We did a month in Japan. We did a road trip all the way up to the east coast! Check our playlist section for all the adventures. Thanks for virtually joining us on the adventure!
Nothing wrong with it but i was just wondering do you call your camper home because you have no other home or do you have a home base home place you call home?
Thanks Sheila! We travel and live in our camper van most of the time. We have now rented a small apartment in the Vegas area since we film so much Las Vegas content for our Turn It Up World channel, which is kind of our home base in the Vegas area, although we often still stay in our camper van even while in Vegas.
Wow! I love your videos and cats. I was just curious if you stayed in the camper year round. I'd love to have your way of life. I'm at home a lot. Still lots to see over never seen before. your videos with you and your husband relax me. Keep the videos coming I'll keep watching. That food you had where the dollar bills were hanging looked amazing. You two rock and your cat babies. I love them!

It’s so interesting to hear about the history of the Salton Sea!

Wow! Must have been something to see then. Thank you for watching and so glad you enjoyed the episode. We really appreciate you. 🙏
@@LetsTurnItUpWorld "Ponderosa"...I like when Tanya pronounces words in spanish. Sounds fun. She has potential to learn and speak spanish.
Hey guys, Joshua Tree is cool at night watching the stars, milkyway. Its cool
The Saltan Sea is a place you go to then suddenly realize why no one is there. Adventure on, you are so fun to follow.
Heyyyyy!!! Tanya and Dave! Love the video and loved seeing you on @That Crazy Disney Lady Live stream the other day! I’m happy to see you guys are still hitting the pavement and driving those miles traveling the States ❤ Til the next video 😊
Thank you Always fun turning it up with Tonya! Glad you’re here
When I was there last year, only a handful of campers too and also a few people picnicking by the beach.
Don’t think I would stay there if it smelled like dead fish! Happy Camping and Safe Travels!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️😺😺
You're right! It was definitely a little funky. 😄
Tanya and Dave Always informative, a lovable fun couple! 👍
Glad you enjoy the episode. We appreciate you. Thanks for joining us virtually on this adventure.
There is truly nothing like Bombay Beach in August when it is 107 degrees.
It's the closest thing to experiencing hell without actually going there.

It was a little spooky, but we had a blast! Thanks for watching.
Our family used to vacation there “Salton Sea” in a camper. It was the first time I ever fished. That was back in the days.
Wow, thanks so much for sharing! Great memories!!
You two are Adorable, Love ya!
👏♥️👍
😊 thank you

How is that hell beautiful??? I am seriously asking.

You’re welcome! Always an adventure with us!

You are making me miss the west and southwest so much! I can’t wait to go back exploring and hiking there again.
Callville Bay at Lake Mead looks a lot like that cg now. Two sections abandoned, just one loop left.
😢

Look at all them Chem trails. 😢
Nice video! Some things i may never get to. Thanks😊
Thanks for watching. We had a great time camping there and sharing this experience with you.
I grew up all around that area Niland, Bombay Beach, Slab City.
That’s pretty cool. What are your favorite memories from that area?
Back in 1962/63 I visited the area. I even went swimming once and I had so much salt on me, I had to take two showers. The water that feeds this lake is from the runoff of irrigation.
Hi guys 😃 nice to see Jimmy
Thanks for watching. Great meeting him and the Slki Inn team!
I just wanted to say hi for Alpine az love you both you have so much fun my God bless you both
Now know by the locals as the Salton Sewer.
Suzanne, ouch, that’s gross! It’s such a shame what the Salton Sea has become.
We call a 1/2 tea and 1/2 lemonade an Arnold Palmer.
Thanks and it was delicious!
With a patty-melt you need to dip it in thousand island dressing. It's. My fav! Grilled onions always.... that looks so dang good and you both look great as always. ❤
We love thousand island dressing too! Thanks for the tip and enjoy the video!
Ooooo! Do tell where you stayed with the fab pool!
There's kitschy and quirky.... and then there's just really, really sad.
For me, this one falls in the really sad category. Don't think I'll ever visit there, myself.
It was eerie! Glad he did it and we’re able to share this experience with you. Thank you for watching.
Awesome video love you guys Adventures 🤗
Wow what a amazing video. 1905 state can't even imagine. Ty for the share.
Love the Pat’s shirt! From Boston and a fan my entire life - pre-Brady and post! lol. Awesome video as usual. Walk in peace and keep the videos coming!!
Thank you so much! We’re big fans too and it’s great to see fellow Boston supporters out there!

Yes sir that looks like a real tourist attraction😂😂😂
They should rename the Salten Sea to the Dead or Toxic Sea. I'm shocked at how much the area has changed.
Once a place full of love and life. Now it’s desolate and empty
It sad to see a place that might’ve been thriving at one point and be so deserted but sometimes you gotta just move on and find that pool!
True!
I can't believe you two stayed there with such a bad smell.
It made me think
of Burning Man too. Love Joshua tree.
Opening the yellow door, saying the world is your home.😂
Such a shame when areas once lovely become shells of what they once were.
It really is thanks for tuning in!’🫶
You made it to Joshua tree. My favorite place in the world. ❤
Dave’s not here.
No man I’m Dave, man
Y’all missed a golden opportunity 😂😂
Great video once again from Dave and Tanya hell kitties
❤😊 .
We appreciate you watching! It was pretty funky out there. Thanks for virtually joining us on this adventure.
Where are the bikes? I enjoy your videos.
Thanks Madeleine for watching! We left our bikes in our small storage garage before we took this trip because we knew we would not be using them.
I'm not sure if I would have eaten at this restaurant. How was the food?
The food was pretty good. The staff were wonderful too. Thank you for watching!
I'm hoping to hear a comparison between Slab City and Bombay Beach - I suppose one difference is the population - some at Slab, almost zero at BB. Without good water, the future of all animal life is limited. This is what drought does...
Did anyone bring Gram Parsons music... even a Flying Burrito selection?
Hope you went to the Int. Banana Museum! 😊
😂🎉 You're brave people😅
This place was so beautiful before people came to trash it. The ranger had to clean everything. The people that lost their mind and destroyed everything, she be cleaning up the mess that they started. They showed disrespect for this land.
wow the food looks awesome😋🥘🥫
It was a surprisingly great find!
One year salt and sea had high winds that we could smell the lake in lake elsinore ca made are town stink
That’s sad!
❤❤❤
That place looks desolate, I wouldn’t camp there.
It was pretty desolate
❤️❤️❤️❤️
I visited Salton Sea. It smelled bad.
It receded because the rich diverted the water and that is the result. It did not recede by man’s own hand. I believe they water was sent to Palm Springs, CA
Do you only stay to the west coast? I’ve been watching for about a month now.
Not only. Lately. We did a month in Japan. We did a road trip all the way up to the east coast! Check our playlist section for all the adventures. Thanks for virtually joining us on the adventure!
God I feel like I smell that smell!? Lol
