I had read a book YEARS ago that said Smith had forbade his wife to go to revival meetings. She went anyway, would stay all night there and when she'd get home she'd see that Smith had locked her out of the house. She'd stay outside on the porch and when he opened the door in the morning she would go inside and ask him what he wanred for breakfast. Her behavior supposedly won him over.
And I think Robert is anointed with the Holy Spirit. 2 Peter 1:4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
Learn about his love for you through his Word and divine promises and he will multiply to you his grace and peace. 2 Peter 1:2 NLT “May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord.”

I wanted to hear about Smith Wigglesworth. If I wanted to hear a sermon, I would go to church. This is supposed to have been a documentary, not a sermon. He probably does funerals and weddings the same way.

Smith said about himself, "Poor Wigglesworth. What a failure to think that people have their eyes on me." I think in this case, you want a biography that shows you how he accomplished the things he did, not one that goes into his detail. He walked in the power of God. How did he do this? Robert Pears has a great mix of the 'how' and also encouragement and warning for your own life. God be with you in your journey!
I don't know if they are related but check out John G. Lake and nowadays Curry Blake- who often speaks of both these men and took over John G Lake's ministry.
Thank you for the history of Smith Wigglesworth. It was a bit frustrating listening when the presenter continually went off into preaching, which was unnecessary. Just tell the story. Adding his thoughts on how something applies now was, honestly, annoying. In fact, it was so often that actual history was reduced to fast moving slides so the presenter could add his extra. Cut the extra out and this would be more enjoyable.
Maybe Mr. Pears intended for you to hear the Word of God, the Truth, as he presented his presentation on Wigglesworth. The irony of you condemning the "preaching" as he is telling the story of Wigglesworth is too much. Blessings to you, I pray that you continue to find "preaching" of the truth in your searches.
I love your passion and no nonsense approach. I know Smith quite well from research. If I may suggest, when trying to reach out, puh-leeeeese exclude pet Christian phrases over and over. The biggest blunder is this repetition of the word blood. It almost made me turn this off. It is a big Christian phrase that smacks of gore and guts, not needed. It is bordering on the hype and dramatically reduced credibility. Keep to the unemotional story, present the facts in a credible manner and we will be convinced by the history. That's all that is needed. I would edit those sections out for brevity clarity and integrity.
I keep meaning to respond. I truly appreciate where you are coming from. I know Roberts for many years. I was able a few years ago to ask him regarding the past and he had truly repented. The Roberts I knew when I was young (and he is two years older than me) was a powerfully blessing. He changed for a season and I actually stopped listening to him. I lost a lot of friends over it. But I felt he had become harsh and lost the love. It has been refreshing to see the old Roberts back. I have had the chance to meet many so called famous leaders. They are usually very nice to deal with. I will say this about Roberts, when you work with him he treats you like royalty. I am a no one but he acted like I was some one famous and he was the best to work with of all the people I have dealt with. I, like, you find today that many of the leaders I looked up to and respected over the years I am concerned about. I refuse to watch most on TV or buy their books. I am not going to name names or judge. I believe we all must make a decision on who and what we listen to. If we are not sure, then we should not judge or publicly criticize but we can decide not to listen to etc. We have the individual responsibility to be "not deceived." I pray for those leaders and love them, but I am careful and don't have to feed off of them. If my spirit man has a red flag it is ok. As long as we are not judging. So I understand where you are coming from and with many leaders I am the same. Warmest blessings
