I saw guys at a trade show selling these. They had a crowd of people throwing money at them, I knew it was a con, I just didn't get how. Now I know, Thanks Shwood! You're the man!
I want to say thank you for this one! I have foot problems and went to a HIGH price orthopedic insole place in town. At nearly $500 you would think they were gold. Then the lady had me do a before and after the insoles using this method. I took note on the direction of her pushing on my hands and amazingly it was the same as this! I should have called her out, instead I quickly left. Thats $500 I saved...more money for my scam stuff! THANKS!
I'd do this to somebody by having them take their phone out their pocket, instead of putting a wristband on. They'd think that their phone makes them uncoordinated.
a friend of a friend did the first trick the other day to convince me into buying one of those. i knew it wasn't the "magnetic bracelet" doing it, but couldn't explain what he _was_ actually doing. I thought it was just a placebo effect. Nice, thanks!
I’ve had a couple people do these tests on me and I was very skeptical. I felt like they were using different forces when pressing on me, but they appeared to truly believe, so I couldn’t fault them for that and tired to be respectful of their beliefs. After watching this video and learning the truth, I realize they were rotten souls. It’s amazing how someone could lie to your face especially when selling a mystical belief. I would love to understand their rationale.
A chiropractor my mom used to go to and make me wait for her to finish had a test similar to the arm pushing thing, but they show that these certain elements make it harder or easier to push your arm, and I always knew it was bs, but he persisted.
THE CHIROPRACTOR IS NOT SELLING A PRODUCT (other than his continued services) This is like saying the neurological exam my dr gave was a fraud, There are good and bad uses for many things.
... except that chiropractors are NOT medical doctors so they do have plenty to sell like for example the illusion of efficacy and safety of their methods @@Cdray24
HAHA we used to have to sell them at my workplace. I refused to sell them and told the manager I would only tell people they are bullshit. OH WOW... turns out I was right
Richard Saunders with the Australian Skeptics did a very similar video debunking this "applied kinesiology", look it up. Brian, thank you so much for this video, it's clips like this that make skepticism cool and fun!
I was at a gun & knife show there was a salesman with those powerflex bracelets . I borrowed one then went off to another vendor and borrowed a portable scales to test the difference and there was no change . Powerflex vendor would not use a scales to prove that there was a change when bracelet was on and that spelled scam
PowerBalance was forced to admit in court (French, if I remember correctly?) that they have no proof at all that the bands do anything. I have a lot of friends who have bought into this crap. It's a scam itself.
it kinda sucks that probably for legal reasons, they aren't allowed to say that the real ones dont work..but these are really the same exact thing. people are so deluded that they will still claim "BUT THOSE ARENT THE REAL THING!!"
I like what this guy does. He kinda reminds me of Darren Brown. Being an entertainer, helping to expose the bullshit of entertainers, and being excellently entertaining all the while!
ahaha!! Thank you!! Somebody was doing this to me at the mall, & thanks to this I was able to point out what was wrong with it & how they were doing it. :P
You nailed it! Good Job. Ideomotor effect causes so much confusion in the world of real muscle testing methods vs. fantasy crap. Muscle testing is a real functional neurologic method if done correctly.
What I don't get is how people don't get home and ask someone to do it, then totally prove it wrong... or do people just watch the person demonstrate it and never try it themselves? To me, that seems like half the point in getting it.
dude all my friends have these so what im gunna do is when they are wearing them im gunne make them fall over and then have them take it off and make it so they are balanced so it makes it look lik the power bands are a fake
I just watched the "tests" that they did with the "real" energy band. They used almost the same tests shown here! Now I'm wondering if it's real or not...
If you do something that causes severe damage, like work in a construction yard or mechanics office then shoes won't last long unless you invest in a good pair. However, most office jobs and day to day walking tasks are hardly taxing on a pair of shoes.
Hello from 2023, where there’s a new company selling this exact same product again, with the exact same scam. Can’t remember what they called it this time around, but I just saw it at a runners expo in Jacksonville Florida.
Hatman! Awesome show btw, it´s hard to believe people fall for the other bands, but look at how many sportsstars wear em. Skepticsbros and the Australian Skeptics did a great job showing that Power Balance Bands don´t have any effect. The company in Australia had to take down all claims on their website
Yes, but a 30 dollar pair of shoes will do the same job as a 125 dollar pair of shoes. Thus, overspending for a band is as dumb as overspending for shoes.
Brian they have one of these set up at the mall here and Belive it or not I almost got suckered in to buying one they did the exact same tests on me but now I'm glad I didnt buy one Thanks for the Video.
I just saw @alphathought on instagram trying to sell his "frequency changing magical grounding necklaces" using one of those tricks and now I'm messaging all the people who liked his video, telling them it's a scam and including a link to this video.
Keep it up guys! I think right now you're more preaching to the choir than anything but hopefully the subscriptions will pick up and you can make a decent dent in human gullibility.
I learned a thing from this video, that Squarespace has been around way longer than I thought
Same
Damn same here,
Lol I am now in the same boat as you guys!
Know it’s on site when I see you , in workin at squarespace b
😂😂😂😂 my exact thought

Milk Man and then steal their phone when they aren't looking

Wonderful presentation Brian! Really enjoyed that one.
Are you still alive?

So much respect for spreading the sceptic mindset!
The last one is stretching as well. The second time, you've stretched the muscles involved so they're able to go a bit further...
HAHA we used to have to sell them at my workplace. I refused to sell them and told the manager I would only tell people they are bullshit. OH WOW... turns out I was right
What workplace?

Saw someone at the Mall at Robinson in Pittsburgh PA selling these. I so wanted to scam him back.
Just found out it was Australian court.
PowerBalance was forced to admit in court (French, if I remember correctly?) that they have no proof at all that the bands do anything. I have a lot of friends who have bought into this crap. It's a scam itself.

This is gotta be the best show in the internet! Just found you guys, I'm happy there's people doing rational shows.
11:55 Awesome face
"Don't make them fall down and crack their head, that's not fun." - Yes, Brian. It is.

Great video Brian, now I can just link to this instead of spending time explaining to idiots why those bands don't work.
You nailed it! Good Job. Ideomotor effect causes so much confusion in the world of real muscle testing methods vs. fantasy crap. Muscle testing is a real functional neurologic method if done correctly.
finally dan has made it onto scam school! i was wondering when he was gunna be on ;3
Wow 9yrs later n utube recommends this

someone did this poorly on me in a mall once
whats the differents in spending $30 on a band and $125 on shoes and jeans?
I just watched the "tests" that they did with the "real" energy band. They used almost the same tests shown here! Now I'm wondering if it's real or not...
I used to see commercials and adds for those bracelets everywhere when they first came out
This has been on the national news!
is that dan brown at 2:23 ?
please never delete any video
that was a good show. you are an excellent showman
on the commercial what they do the first time is pull out and when u pt the band on they push down

@lewter4 since when is it illegal to trick suckers into anything?
Brian they have one of these set up at the mall here and Belive it or not I almost got suckered in to buying one they did the exact same tests on me but now I'm glad I didnt buy one Thanks for the Video.
why is dan brown on scam school...?
This is awesome. I hope the idiots who believe in those bands see this... although I'm sure they'll keep believing the bands have power.
