Hi Ma'am. I'm 19 years old in my first year of college taking English Comp 2. Before this year I absolutely hated English. I despised every short story and old-English tale I've ever been forced to read by teachers in the past. Reading the Storm the first time was boring for me. What more can a story about a woman sleeping with a man be about? After finding your videos, not only are my essays better, but my understanding of literature has improved drastically. In fact, I love it. I keep finding myself going back to your videos to further understand a story and say "hey that's pretty awesome and revolutionary of Kate Chopin (or any writer) to write about". Thank you so much for helping me open my mind to the vast and beautiful world of literature!
Great analysis! I like how you looked through all the aspects of the story and you've helped me gain a better understanding of the themes, in general. Thank you for the video! :)
Hello my name is Megan Bloom. It is currently the beginning of 2018. I just looked at the date this video was publishes so I have no clue if you are going to read this. I just wanted to take this time to write a thank you to you. This has helped me so much for understanding the story itself. When I was reading the story myself I had no clue what was going on in the middle of it. From all the graphic details to what she was actually doing. I am currently a student in high school but I take all my classes at a college near me. (duel enrollment) With that being so it was very unexpected that the story was about an affair. Thank you so much for the help!
MY ANGEL I'm so glad the video helped you! I teach at a college with lots of dual enrollment students, so I see what you mean. :-) Good luck with all your courses, educational goals, and your English class especially!
Thank you for this in-depth commentary. It's so helpful to hear you covering all the different perspectives of the story and the conciseness that you do it in. Keep going, please. I have listened to 5 or 6 of your different commentaries for essays that we have studied in our Composition 2 class and I always feel so much more prepared when I listen to you first. Thanks.
We just finished class and my Honors class English Comp 2 professor had watched your commentary on "The Storm" and really appreciated your work in dissecting and analyzing it. He said that you brought out more points than he had even considered. He's always encouraging us to watch your videos on essays he assigns us. I just thought I ad that to your already good day. 😊
You really are helping me Ace my Forms of Literature class in college :)))))))))))))))))))))))))) !!!!!!! You make it so easy to understand the stories. THANK YOU.
karen alanis Yes! Just type in Rebecca Balcarcel for my personal page. There's also a Sixminutescholar page. My website is rebeccabalcarcel.com. Too much info -- sorry!
what makes it outstanding in your opinion?...........all she did is regurgitating the carnal content of the story over and over and over............there is no analysis here
@@biancagadi786 First of all, you're replying to a 6 year old comment. Second of all, she didn't just explain the plot of the story, she explained what the story *means,* how is that not analysis???
Wow you really helped me to understand the story! I wouldnt have never imagined that there were so many interesting messages to analyze, Thank you so much :)
Could you please make a conclusion about this story about what’s happened in the story? And also what are storm is? Am so stupid. So, i can’t understand easily.
More like she was being energetic so her husband wouldn't be suspicious of her. Also, you seem to be omitting the fact that this same system oppresses men as well.
+DionLaurent1 she's giving an analysis of a story set in the 1800's, the story is called "The Storm" Written by Kate Chopin. This whole video was made to explore the meaning of the story written in question. It's a literary analysis. An analysis is when the book or movie in this case a book is explained in detail, themes and motifs are discussed. The themes discussed are the ones in this story. I hope I clarified some stuff for you!
I thought she could have talked about Alcee more rather than just saying his part was with an affair. Even if it means being chavenistic. Your critical analysis is good but I feel like you could be more indepth with all things.
Bitches be like, "Sorry, babe. It was my animalistic desires that made me yell at you and cheat with my ex. But I followed what my heart wanted and now I'm chill 😚✌️"
blablabla.......this is a professor?.......in ten minutes of "analysis" she only makes one point (honor your sexuality, no matter how) and drags that out over and over and over. when I listen to a professor for interpretation of a piece of "literature" I want reference to: historical context, political context, bio reference of the piece to the author, at minimum mention that the story was not published until about seventy years later and why. these are just a few little aspects that pop up in my little 'non-professorial' mind................today's quality of thinking is stuck at the pre-pubescent stage.
Your analysis is full of holes, that you patch on the fly with the most superficial explanations, principally, it's society's fault. If I had a space ship, I would fly it to the moon, but I don't, so I think I'll have an affair instead since you did actually say that the protagonist could not marry the person she would have preferred, so her having a tryst with him is society's fault. Weak. What say you?

sheldon lac You make a good point! I focused on one or two main aspects and left out Albee. Maybe I need a part 2!
This story sounds like a movie. Lol
Bitches be like, "Sorry, babe. It was my animalistic desires that made me yell at you and cheat with my ex. But I followed what my heart wanted and now I'm chill 😚✌️"
Strange to absolve the cheaters of any responsibility because "le evil society made me do it!"
I dont understand the meaning behind the ending. "So the storm passed and everyone was happy"
do you think calixta is insecure?.
marie villarreal Mmm. Maybe? I will think about that!
She is what we call a Molly
false advertising. The channel says "SIXMINUTEscholar" but this video is ten minutes long :(
