The thing about BC2: Vietnam is that you actually feel afraid when running though the jungle, relieved when you find team mates, angry when you see a team mate gunned down in front of you, and genuinely happy when reviving fallen team mates. I can still remember on Hill 137 when taking a position outside of the caves a group of snipers had my squad pinned and I made a break for it to distract the attackers, I jumped into a trench and found my self with a completely new squad that I didn't even know about. We cleared out the caves, secured the river, and drove the NVA back to their spawn. I dunno why it was just a really fun experience and I guess that's what makes this dlc so good. Team work, squad tactics, and relying on each other to win.
I always played in hardcore mode. My friend and I would use Russian weapons when we played as vietnamese, and western weapons when we played as the Americans. I loved playing ride of the valkyries and massacaring the enemy team in my tank. God it was glorious.
The game that we absolutely deserve a remaster of but instead get the servers shut down soon. Rest in peace battlefield, I'll miss you. Screw the zombie walking around called 2042. 😔
It's always hard to make a robust case for old games being better without people accusing you of having rose tinted glasses but this really is undeniable. The difference is simply that this game and bf3, even bf1, were made with love and passion, not just to do a job. Once you lose that in any creative pursuit, it's curtains...
Looking back now battlefield 3 was quite a step back in the wrong direction and was the beginning of the end. Destruction didn't even match up at all to Bc2. It was already a shell of what it once was.
this was my favorite fps back in the day... so raw.. felt so rewarding. Loved the maps, sounds and music. just an epic game. Cant wait to play it again
+*Endo Kraken* Yeah, I'd like a game to have a good singleplayer set in Vietnam with open environments and the Viet Cong popping out of trees, bushes, and trenches. It'd just have to be designed in such a way that the Viet Cong wouldn't have too much of an advantage over the player because otherwise the gameplay would just get tedious and annoying.
I can't believe this is 11 years old....this was when gaming was at its peak and i had just discovered BF. I played the first 2 COD games on PC ... COD 4 was awesome but notice it was taking a direction that i knew the game was going to be a thing of the past when it came to S&D on PC. BFBC2:Vietnam and vCoD:United Offensive on PC were some amazing DLC!!!!

I remember playing BF2 Vietnam on my Xbox 360. before they had any music streaming services on console i had my CD of from Good Morning Vietnam and Forrest Gump burned onto my 360. I love the soundtrack already on the game especially the ambience that played from afar from the radios. But hearing extra tunes from my burned soundtracks made this DLC so much more special! I remember on HIll 137 id get me and my friend to get on a gunboat and blast the shit outta the Charlies while listening to "Raindrops keep falling on my head" "Hound Dog" and i believe "Rebel Rouser" as well. Shit was so fun to do i remember the Charlies just running and dodging while i was just sitting on the guns laughing as i killed em dead. GOOD TIMES
Miss this BF2BC2 Game... especially this Vietnam expansion... Really wish they would re-release the Battlefield Vietnam game with updated graphics and gameplay...

I think this map was based of Hill 937 or most commonly known as "Hamburger Hill" , I know this because on the intro for this map on one of the game modes the commentator on the radio says "U.S Army regulars will assault Hamburger Hill" or something like that. Btw nice video and I loved that game to bits :D on PC and on PS3

"An american troop was destroyed today by NorthVietnamese regular soldiers,the american soldiers who survived called this hill Hamburger hill for the Slaughter and Massacre that took place there" or something like that.
one of my all time favorite bits of dlc... sucks they didnt add the option to unlock alot more guns or alot more maps,but what it had was still great....

@90abcde6 There are now visual healthbars but you have a certain amount of hp. In "standard" mode you have regenerating hp if you avoid getting shot once taking damage, in hardcore mode you have to get a medic too heal you. In hardcore mode bullets do more damage.
Man I was 10 years old playing this back then and it’s insane to think back that I was literally dropping 70-100 kills per game as a fucking 10 year old on my uncles PC where we shared an account to play this game on and we would take turns playing while the other watched and we both would laugh and bond like crazy… I miss these times honestly
