  • EE Harold Gauper talks about radio interference problems at the start of the consumer electronic age in the 50s-70s. Up until that time manufacturers were not careful about how they designed appliances and things in the 50s became chaotic.

    Oh yeah - I've got both my amateur radio and commercial radio licenses. I'm pretty fully versed in RFI. Funny story - back in the day Ford used TRW alarm and entry systems on cars. Friends and I found out pretty quickly that 5W PEP on the 2m band would set off every TRW alarm. The other thing I discovered because I owned a Ford Tempo at the time was that the remote - it sometimes worked on my car as well as another car too.
