I especially appreciate the words “we have to save the people whose culture we want to save”. I never learned this perspective, it makes me think. Thank you Mark Hylkema and the channel for this workshop.
Very good and informative lecture Mark. I have known Mark Hylkema for over 47 years and have seen his dedication to the preservation of the Native American people and their cultures increase immensely. His knowledge and intellect in these areas is astounding. I have never gotten tired of hearing him talk about the history of California and its people. Good work Mark, 'mon.
Thank you very much for posting this video on this RUclips channel, I was on the live call last week and found it illuminating and have since shared some of the information with others who would be interested. I am grateful that you are using this platform for spreading important, so often neglected historical information. Unfortunately, this coming Friday I will not be able to attend live, I hope that the class is recorded and posted here so that I can catch-up before the last class. I would also like to share this knowledge with others, so having these classes available to the public on an easily accessible forum like RUclips is a great gift. Thank you!
I wasn't able to attend this first session and greatly appreciate its availablilty on RUclips. Something to return to and watch again; it's a fascinating but deeply sobering part of our history. Thank you.
Thank you for posting this talk here. As I walk the trails, I have been hoping to learn more about the land and the native people who lived and live here. Could you also post the resources of tribal organizations you spoke about at the beginning?

Has Mark Mylkema ever discussed his thoughts on Junipero Serra? If he has can anyone direct me to it? Thanks.
¿Me puedes informar de lo que piensa sobre Junipero Serra?
