It has the background vocals in it, the ones you thought were Wish's re-engineering. You may want to listen again to StarMusic's releases of the audio version, the full band version, and the digital concert performance video and you will hear those "echoes" or reverbs. On the other hand, the live band performance you mentioned that you prefer more was shot in the Philippines (not in the US), with the 3rd Avenue band, so the arrangement was a bit different. Just for your info and your viewers. Prior to this Wish bus performance, Morissette was so busy with a lot of performances, in TV shows, corporate events, and jamming sessions with other artists. She is "in-demand" these days, and she is promoting her new single. You can just imagine how hectic and demanding her schedule is nowadays. After her come back (which I never even knew she was resting for a while) she was already scheduled to do "threelogy" in the US for two months(I think) and as soon as she got back from US she was immediately invited to sing in the MU Philippines and was invited to VARIOUS events where she is required to perform, then after a day or two, she dropped her new songs "Undangon Tani" and her hit cover of "Gusto ko nang bumitaw," and of course she had to promote that killer songs (DUH), she was invited to promote her hits in various platforms like the wishbus, youtube, tv shows, ect. Wassuuppp OVELA! MORISSETTE unleashed another Beast from her a vocals! Yeah! You're right for me, I prefer the one when did it with a band live ! in Studio. A lot of famous Vocalist in the Philippines tried the climax and cover the MORISSETTE Version of GUSTO KO NG BUMITAW ' Katrina probably still trying cover this song too! Perhaps, She's still practicing the climax! If I remember it correctly, She had a hard time covering MORISSETTE's ' AKIN KA NA LANG ' She was able to do that but, She couldn't just killed the song ! I wonder if She can with this song.
Fact: This is one of those days when her voice is not at 100% condition. But as professional as she is, still give her best to deliver that very hard song.
I like her Wish Bus versions more than most of her live versions. I feel that she tends to oversing a little in some live performances, and often the sound quality is not as good. The Wish Bus versions are very subtle with great dynamic range and, of course, excellent sound quality. Also, she often backs off from the mic to avoid overloading it (which happened in her "Defying Gravity" video). But I agree that she backed away a little too far a couple of times here.
She still delivered it solidly and did amazing job despite that she was not 100% well. But for me, I prefer her other video of this song. Where she was with the live band. The videography and how she sang it standing up, it's more expressive and catchy I think.

Perhaps, She's still practicing the climax! If I remember it correctly, She had a hard time covering MORISSETTE's ' AKIN KA NA LANG ' She was able to do that but, She couldn't just killed the song ! I wonder if She can with this song.

This is one of those days when her voice is not at 100% condition. But as professional as she is, still give her best to deliver that very hard song.
I like her Wish Bus versions more than most of her live versions. I feel that she tends to oversing a little in some live performances, and often the sound quality is not as good. The Wish Bus versions are very subtle with great dynamic range and, of course, excellent sound quality. Also, she often backs off from the mic to avoid overloading it (which happened in her "Defying Gravity" video). But I agree that she backed away a little too far a couple of times here.
