Operated by Diorama Shokudo Shelter Cats Co., Ltd., the café serves as a platform to support and promote the adoption of rescued cats. The organization provides a safe and nurturing environment for stray and abandoned cats, working towards finding them loving forever homes.
Through initiatives like crowdfunding on CAMPFIRE, Diorama Shokudo raises funds to cover the costs of veterinary care, food, and shelter for the cats. Visitors to the café can interact with these cats in a cozy, playful atmosphere, helping them build trust with humans. This connection often leads to successful adoptions, offering a second chance to these cats while raising awareness about animal welfare.
The café’s mission is to blend a love for creative dioramas with compassion for animals, creating a community that supports and celebrates the bond between humans and cats.
Diorama Restaurant is a cat cafe where you can find a foster home.
Many cats are waiting for you.
First we will play with the cats in the diorama room, then we will take you to the cat shelter next door. Lunch time and tea time are available. There is a dinner time on the day before the holiday.

My first cat used to sit for hours watching my model railway. He never caused any problems, other than once trying to drink "water" out of a stream! He would carefully walk around the layout , but did meow a call for the breakdown train if there was a derailement. He adopted a corner which which never got "developed".

Fun backstory. This man owned a failing cafe with model trains as decoration, he was close to shutting it all down when he found a box of abandoned cats, he took them in, let them chill in the cafe and this video went viral and the attention not only saved his new cat cafe but also allowed him to start a cat rescue charity.

i love the fact hes obviously taken great care creating the eviroment / models / trains / toensfolk yet lets his cat freely move around. that takes a good amount of trust and understanding that something would and could get broken.

The vibe is straight out of a Ghibli movie lmao. Can you imagine, you're taking a train through the countryside and you see a giant fluffball just casually resting on the hillside. There's a village nearby but everyone's just chill with it being there. And this magical creature occasionally feels like watching the train and giving it a gentle smack as you chug along.

This is hilarious. My Dad had a model railway in our house's basement and our cat knocked the train off the tracks in a tunnel and I could hear my Dad yelling from upstairs.
I had a Hot Wheels motorized track thing where the cars went around in a figure 8 and crashed into each other... my cat would sit in the middle of it and slap them off of the track. It made me so angry as a small child, but now it's just hilarious and cute.
